So, I bought SC2 yesterday, the release day and since then from the bit I've played I really like it. However, after a certain amount of time the screen will go black and kill the entire laptop, essentially causing a hard shut off. This was very disappointing to me, especially since, I had no issues whatsoever with the beta. The problem appears to be fairly widespread given the number of posts on it in the bnet forums.

So, have you ever been excited for a first day release only to have it not go as you had hoped? Is anyone else having the same issue with SC2?

Spore. It wasn't what I thought it would be.

RDR because I'm actually bored with it and can't be bothered to play it.

Assasin's Creed, really. I can't stand the game, I mean, doing the same thing over, and over and over again.

Halo 3 disappointed me because it improved on very little beyond graphics and physics over it's predecessors and the multiplayer was shrunken down to the point where it wasn't about how good you were at fighting but how good you were at memorising spawn locations. The story was also extremely weak, even if it did have some nice locations and level designs.

Gears of War 2 disappointed me because it again, added very little to it's predecessor beyond graphics and in this case the story was all over the place in terms of locations. They couldn't decide where to set it so instead made you go everywhere with no real causal link between the places you went to.

Bioshock 2 wasn't a huge disappointment but I was hoping for a story with as much immersion as the first game. They improved on everything else so it was a shame that they couldn't come up with something a little better.

Batman Arkham Asylum was an extremely well made game but there was nothing "exciting" about it. The story was pretty much going from one area to another in order to confront a boss and beating up bad guys on the way, there was no sense of urgency that you'd expect due to how they made it almost a "sandbox" game where you can wander about as you please.

All of these are great games, I just was expecting more from them.

Splinter Cell Conviction. Simply put, they took all that was great from it's predecessors and threw it out the window and stuck Sam Fisher into it. If it was sold as a game based upon the TV series '24' then it'd be great, but it is not a Splinter Cell game.

Left 4 dead. I got it just a couple of weeks ago and I don't seem to like it that much.
Does anyone have an explanation for it or is it just me.

Modern Warfare 2.
I loved the first one but the story in MW2 was confusing at best and infuriating at worst.

This may be redundant, but is your laptop up to spec?

If so, I'd go with your video drivers being out of date and try to update them If you can.

Hmm my biggest disappointment...probably AvP, expecting so much. Got so, so little.

Godfather 2. Fucking fuck fuck fuckity fuck it. Fuck it to death. £40 on that steaming 12-hour pile of dump. I was expecting something like the (superb) first game, but they gave me a lot of mishmashed game elements wrapped in stupid and covered with failsauce. I'm still bitter, as you can see.

Frontlines: Fuel of War. It had so much potential, but it just fell short of expectations.

How can I be ninja'd three times in one topic? Dammit! Well, I was gonna post Halo 3, MW2, and AvP as being my top three disappointing let downs of all time, but it seems my work has already been done.

Wow, nobody has said that the cake is a lie or Mario not getting to kiss the Princess?

OT: Um, I'd have to say the MGS where they introduced Raiden. Seriously, I have to play as this guy instead of Snake?! I would also have to say FFX (I had heard such great things about the Final Fantasy series and used that one as my entry...haven't played one since. ).

XOT: Dang, that's not good OP. Sounds like something they would have patched over the long time that it took for them to make the game...hope they patch it.

OP
That?s the problem I have with PC games, (don?t get me wrong, I love to play on the PC but) everyone?s PC is different and I don?t think all games are built to deal with that. On top of that, it can be expensive to keep it robust enough to play the latest games. But on the other hand a good PC can really do everything and won?t red ring.
It doesn?t happen so much now that I by my own computers but when I was a kid there were plenty of times when I got a cool looking game as a gift but found out later the family pc couldn?t handle it.

In the spirit of the thread going here I?ll have to say my biggest recent disappointment has been Burnout Paradise. I really love 3 & Revenge but the franchise started going downhill from there. How could they NOT bring crash junctions to the next gen?! Not even in DLC?!

My laptop is a core i7, ATI Radeon, 5870, and I have 8 gigs of RAM @ 1333. I am running the latest drivers released two days ago. My laptop kills everything I've thrown at it thus far, plus like I said the Beta ran smooth as butter at the highest settings.
