Giving my SNES to my older brother when he moved as his was broken. I'm not completely selfish or anything, but it's covered in filth and it peeves the hell out of me.
I got another SNES, but not many games back. :/

Lending my Megadrive to a 'Friend' with Micro Machines3. Got back his brother's broken Megadrive with a broken adapter and no Micro Machines3.
Druggie funding his habit. Whole family not taking responsibilty. Hate runs deep.

Playing something that i like to call "the demo disc of doom".
A few years ago i received a demo disc in the mail from PS Underground.
Now i was excited because i only received one disc before this one (the others were all stolen by post office workers) and i was happy that i got one.

I have a ps2 with two nearly full memory cards with thousands of hours worth of data that i had accumulated over my many years of ps2 gaming. So i put in the disc play it finish it and then leave.
I come back an hour later to finish off DMC for the fifth time but it says i have no save data.
I got to the browser screen and check out my two memory cards. I then found out that my cards have been wiped clean of everything.
A few days later i get a note that says that the demo disc has the magic fucking ability to eat data off of memory cards.
I then stopped playing my ps2 for a couple years and got an xbox instead of ps2 games.

I couldn't say my worst, it's probably burried in my memory somewhere, but here's one you'll be familiar with:

Playing Half-Life, fall off a bridge into sludge.
Quickload. I said quickload!
Fall into sludge, die. Quickload.
Fall into sludge, die. Quickload.
Fall into sludge, die. FUCK I hit the wrong key!

Remember kids, F6 and F7 are right next to each other. This is why people now use F5 and F9.

Really? I actually enjoyed it. Of course that was when I was like 9. Now I can't stand it, but it's not a bad game, it's just too grind heavy.
I got addicted.
I couldn't stop playing it, and I got depressed every time I did. >_<

Saving the game underneath a lift on Red Faction. Every time I loaded it up I died instantly before I could do anything, and had to restart the game...

Years ago playing a borrowed pokemon blue on a borrowed game boy while on holiday.
Stood up to go to toilet and i drop the dam thing, making the batteries fly out and losing an hours worth of tedious caves levels where i caught some pretty neat pokemon. It also snapped a bit of the case and had to sellotape the entire thing to stop it falling apart. My friend was not pleased.

Thought I made a mistake buying Far Cry 2. Turns out if you ignore the over sensitive A.I. (dont play on hardcore) it is a decent game. AS50 cal FTW.

Is it actually any good though? Got it free with my new graphics card, but still haven't installed it.

My biggest mistake is either buying a Wii, although I sold it back to the shop I got it from for more than I paid for it in the first place, or giving away my old PS2 and 30 games, only to re-buy one a month ago to play Ico and Shadow of the collosus.

definitely many hours spent on either a total war game, fallout 3, oblivion, and failing to save adequately has cost me many hours of my life

I bought Portal once. I mean, it's a great game and all, and I still enjoy it. BUT, it turned me into one of those idiots who went around going "lol the cake is a lie!" for a few months. I find that terrible.

Would have to be buying a ps3,only to play it 4 times in a year and then having it no long play games......I put it back in the box and now shun it.
