With the Halo: CE We Want Money remake coming out soonish, I looked back and realised that I actually had never finished the first Halo game. So what's your biggest gaming regret? It's either that or buying the Iron Man game. That was just dumb.

The fact that the only thing that really keeps me interested in Halo Reach is the armor customization.
Literally today I played the beginning cutscene twice with two different characters just to see me creation come to life.
Whenever I play the multiplayer, I put myself in constant danger to take every opportunity I can to perform the assassination animations, because I love seeing my character do his sweet moves to the other player.
I've probably spent more time in the customization menu then I have in game.
And I'm not over exaggerating.

My darkest secret: I used a mod for Dragon Age: Origins only to look at the naked bodies of Morrigan and Leliana.
And my biggest regret is buying Spore and C&C 4. I hate both games and should burn them.

My biggest regret as a gamer is my tendency to always try to see what others see as positive in a game. While this sounds like a nice thing to do, it begins to become a frustrating mess when no matter how hard I try, I can't see what is good about a game getting 70+ on Metacritic.
For example, Driver: San Francisco, a game that has gotten a 78 on Metacritic and got a 8.0 from Gamespot (getting the Great Sequel, Oh Snap!, Solid Extras and Unique awards). I can't help but be under the impression that other people seem to be playing a game completely different to the demo I tried. When I'm saying completely different, I mean Bulletstorm and Max Payne different. The demo I tried was filled with generic game-play with a mechanic that is borrowed from a FPS shooter that flopped hard (Jericho). The single player was a collection of clichés and generally poor gameplay, while multi-player was a lesson of how to make a poor multi-player mode.
It gets worse as I buy games that I see as naff just because loads of people love it, thinking that it gets much better since others love it so much. One good example is The Witcher, a game people praise as being fantastic. A game that I don't see the hype at all with a generic "save the world!" plot, with a main character with so much brood that it seemed to of consumed any other part of a personality he could have. Every other character in the game seemed to be part of a sick joke to make Geralt seem like the Sean Connery, while they secretly snigger behind his back on the account of Geralt being as charismatic as a tramp having a stroke. The game-play was dull with controlling him feel as smooth as operating a tank. I seriously bought the first and second Witcher games, assuming I'd like it since it's well praised, especially for it's story (which I find incredibly important in a game), only to seemingly missed the punchline called the hype.

Buying The Force Unleashed 2, it's roughly four missions long, with a dull half arsed story that wasn't needed. It was the final nail in my respect for George Lucas's coffin, it showed that the original trilogy was likely just a beautiful accident that an inconsiderate jerk then went on to completely screw up in every format.
Only Battlefront 3 could redeem him a little, and that's never going to happen, unfortunately.
Another thing that isn't so much a regret but is sad to me is that I'll never be able to recreate the feel of San Andreas when I first started the game up, even on replays when I'd only just finished it and it was still fairly new, it just didn't feel the same as when you popped on a BMX and immersed yourself in an L.A parody. Damn that game was good...damn.

Getting caught up in all the MW2 hype and being a general Activicion/CoD fanboy until the game came out, then realising I hated it so badly that I wouldn't defend it and became a cynic of it instead; had I been more reserved, more critical, the disappointment wouldn't have been as big. I can understand why other people enjoy MW2, but for me it was a massive let-down. On the plus side, I suppose it taught me to ignore hype as much as possible and analyse everything the developers say carefully.
My biggest regret is probably having caught/traded 249 of the 251 pokemon in Crystal. To this day I wish I'd done it just to be able to say I'd pulled it off.
Not having played more than 5 minutes of Thief 2 The Metal Age despite owning it is a secret, I don't regret it though. Mostly playing on easy for games, there are a few exceptions, but... yeah... also a secret.
Regrets would be buying Tropico 3, CnC 4 and Far Cry 1. FC 1 was okay, but still not worth the money.

I have finished half the games I own, if that. Half-Life 2 is one of them. I can't even get past the third stage in that game. But, I just plain suck at any and all FPS, so there is that reason. But yeah, sometime I need to go and clear my backlog of games to finish.
I had the opportunity to play through ff7 and MGS when I was a kid, but due to my own idiocy I never did. I actually tried 7, but my child like mind couldn't understand that I wasn't supposed to attack that scorpion while its tail was up.
I haven't gotten around to playing the first Half-Life (I have played Half-Life 2 and the episodes, but still).
My biggest gaming regret is not keeping better track of my games (really most of them were for my sisters and I but I played them the most), every time I've moved before I moved where I am now I've lost almost all of them and only found some of them.
As for the remake, I would've preferred if they'd waited something more like 12-14 years after the original or like 5 years after Halo 3 or Reach, and done the whole trilogy-- which I guess now would be the original trilogy-- at once or right in a row, but I guess 10 years is enough for there to be people who never played it or barely remember it.
Yes, it's a sophisticated dress-up simulator that you can also shoot people in, and you're not alone (it's not the only reason I play, but it's one of the larger ones).JoesshittyOs said:

I also never finished the first Halo game, only got to the last level with that timed area. Main reason behind not finishing was the Flood enemies, I just found them boring and annoying to fight.
Over the top cheating when I was younger (damn you my younger self, damn you!) rather than having a good story and game-play experience. Mostly due to my (back then) lack of patience and unwillingness to improve rather than take a shortcut.
