There are a lot of Bioware Fans on this forum (myself being one of the biggest - the company has sold me all 3 of my xboxes), so I was wondering about your guys's characters in each of their various games. We spend a lot of time with these characters and I'm curious about everyone else's thoughts. Feel free to share whatever character annotations or battle stories, or just anecdotes about how you make characters in general.

Baldur's Gate: Didn't play much of the original Baldur's Gate, but in Baldur's Gate II my main character was a monk. I called him Rory the Dragonpuncher, and he lived up to his name entirely. My friend and I were playing BG2 online, just 2 characters, seeing what we could do.. how far we could get.. He was playing an Elven Mage named Kassoon the Omnipotent, I was playing Rory the Dragonpuncher.

We got to the black dragon, and Kassoon says "Ok man, you go in, distract him a while, while I get ready to cast these awesome spells on him." So Rory jumps to it, and starts punching and kicking, and within only about 35 seconds, the dragon is dead, Kassoon having hardly lifted a finger. He was a little steamed about being left out of the fight, and when we got to the red Dragon, Mr The Omnipotent made sure he got the first attack.

Another thing about Rory that I enjoyed was the fact that he moved so fast. Kassoon would show off his spells like Horrid Wilting and Finger of Death, and I would just cry "Oh yeah? Look at my STRONG POWERFUL LEGS!!" and run circles around him like an orbiting planet as he walked around. We laughed about that for years after we played.

Neverwinter Nights: At the time Neverwinter Nights came into being, I was in the middle of a D&D game in which I played a half-orc Druid/Barbarian named Dench. He wielded an Ironwood Halberd and had a wolf companion. I put a lot of work into the character, and tried, unsuccessfully, to bring him into BG2. I managed to with a character trainer, but it wasn't proper and it was clearly a hackjob. In Neverwinter Nights, I was able to bring Dench into the flesh, so to speak. I could play a Half-Orc Druid Barbarian without a single hitch, and he could even wield a regular halberd without having to jump through the Ironwood Hoop, because of how the game handled weapon proficiencies.

The only Notable thing other then the fact that Dench could even Exist in Neverwinter Nights was getting to the point in the game where you have to talk to the Druids, and there's a Half-orc Druid there, who, despite Dench BEING a Half-Orc Druid himself, acts like he's some wonderful thing, and Dench is being a bigot for not believing that Half-Orcs can be Druids. I thought that was a little funny.

Knights of the Old Republic: Main character was a LS Soldier/Guardian. Was the Bald Black Character, and wielded 2 lightsabers. I can't remember any specific stories, but when the twist ocurred in that game, I actually didn't see it coming until about 30 seconds before Malak reveals it. I was just sitting there saying "No way... No, it can't be.. OH MY GOD IT IS! HA! THIS GAME IS AWESOME!" One of my best gaming moments. Not specific to the character perhaps, but still on topic.

Honorable Mention because KOTOR was short, KOTOR2, which wasn't a Bioware Game, but I'll count it for now, I played a Hardcore Sith Lightsaber Expert (Sith Guardian/Warlord I think). My character would kill first, ask questions later, which seemed like a good idea to me.. But what it meant was, I made a lot of the "Skip this dialogue" choices and missed almost all of the story. In fact, when it came time to fight the last boss.. she basically gave the dramatic "Do you want to know why I did what I did." and I think my response was something along the lines of "Fuck you *****" and I killed her without hearing any of her story.

I had to reload and be a LITTLE bit more amiable to make heads or tails of the ending and get any satisfaction from finishing.

Jade Empire: I'm not sure where my character in Jade Empire turned Evil, but I'm pretty sure it was right near the end. Oh yeah, it was when you get Death's Hand. All of your team mates object, and you have the opportunity to let Death's Hand go, or Dominate your team's destinies against their will so that they had to obey you. I loved Death's Hand, and I wasn't going to give him up for Sky, Dawn Star, or ANYBODY. So I dominated those jerks. Even though I was pretty good leading upto that point, I turned into a royal badass right near the end, and ended up getting the evil ending.

On that note, I want them to make the next Jade Empire game already, it's been way too long.

Mass Effect: I almost always played a Soldier, Paragon, Garrus and Wrex on the squad, romancing Ashley (although through my many many playthroughs, I did romance Liara a couple times.) Despite it being the game I've played the most on the list, I actually probably have the least to say about it.

Oh, I never once made a custom face and stuck with it in Mass Effect. I wish I could have altered the Vandershep, but I found him more appealing then all of the gross looking custom face options. I tried, but I could never take it seriously. They just looked so ridiculous.

Dragon Age Origins: It took me a long time to get into DAO. As some of you who know me, or have paid any attention to me in DAO threads, I finally settled on a Female Human Noble Rogue. The reason I chose female was SOLELY because I read that if you romanced Alistair as a female, you could become Queen of Ferelden. So throughout all of the game, that was my motivation and goal - I was going to be Queen of Ferelden. And I accomplished that. I generally took the "Good" side of everything in the game. Like I've told Amnestic, I like playing the Hero, generally (Unless Death's Hand is involved, in which case I'm badass.) The only time I chose what might be considered the "evil" choice (although all of the moral choices in DAO were Grey, rather then Black or White), was siding withthe Werewolves rather then the Dalish Elves. My main team was Shale, Alistair and Wynne, and I varied very little in that. By the end, I had all 3 of those characters loving me, and most of the others in good standings. Helps to leave some of them in the camp. Sten for example.

Mass Effect 2: Throughout my last playthrough of Mass Effect 1, I realized that the Infiltrator was pretty badass. I ignored it through most of the times through the game because I despised the Sniper Rifle. But I liked having the Sniper Rifle as an option. I saw Amnestic praising the Pistol, and I saw that if I chose Infiltrator instead of Soldier, I could keep Marksman AND Immunity up 100% of the time with the Commando Specialization. I was sold. That's mostly a Mass Effect 1 story, but it bleeds into Mass Effect 2.

I imported into Mass Effect 2, full paragon, level 60, yadda yadda, name was John I Shepard (the I was for Infiltrator - yeah, original, I know). Stuck with Infiltrator, and LOVED it. the Sniper Rifle didn't suck in ME2, the Pistol was a little worse, but the sniper rifle, more useful tech, and CLOAK made it so much better.

I hammered through ME2 in just a couple days, clocking more hours into that short time then I could have believed I could put into a game. I got everyone's loyalty, managed to keep the peace in those tough times, saved all of the crew.. but in the mission, I lost Garrus and Grunt, all in the span of 5 minutes. I was Crestfallen. I can't bring myself to import that save, mainly because I can't see the point. Importing an old ME1 save in ME1 was useful, because you could reach level 60, and get all of your bonus points in Intimidate/Charm. None of those reasons are there in ME2, so everytime I start playing, I either import John I Shepard from ME1, or start fresh. Working on a Vanduard right now, and after that I'm going to attempt an Insanity run, but this game MEANS it when it says Insanity.

That's about it. That's a lot to read, and if you read it, wow, I'm flattered. You probably didn't though, but feel free to take from it the idea of what I see this thread as, and respond with your own stories.

Baldur's Gate: A kleptomaniac chaotic neutral rogue who had an addiction to pickpocketing people. Whenever I popped into a major city, everyone's pockets started feeling a fair bit lighter. I even picked the pocket of the best and brightest the cities had to offer, including 'legendary' thief Aran Linvail.

Yeah, not such a good thief if you can't protect your own pockets, huh Aran?

Of course, things rather changed once I picked up the Use Any Item ability. Have you ever seen a rogue cast three Horrid Wilting's in quick succession?

I have. And it's funny as hell.

Knights of the Old Republic: Lightside Soldier/Consular. I'm all about playing the big hero. Of course that didn't stop me from abusing the hell out of Force Lightning and Force Kill, but I was generally a pretty good guy. I even gave that stupid woman on Tatooine a bunch of money simply because she asked.

When the big reveal came about though, I did a complete 180. From then on it was all about being the evilest son of a Sith Lord you ever did see. I crushed starships from within, destroyed entire tribes of people and slaughtered beasts both magical and mystical.

Because I could.

Oh sure, Bastila didn't approve, but what do I care? I would've run her through with my lightsaber at the first opportunity if I had the choice.

Jade Empire: Again, evilest ************ you met. I was generally just an asshole to everyone. Once I got up to Death's Hand and realised that all my evil deeds would totally pay off with a new ally, everything was worth it.

Mass Effect: Infiltrator FemShep with a slightly modified default face (Changed the hair to blonde. My squad was generally Garrus/Wrex because they're my bros. Romanced Oily McHeadsweat. Paragon'd my way through the entire game, to the extent that I convinced Saren to shoot himself in the face. Funny stuff.

Bitches recognise the Infiltrator in ME1. We've got endless Marksman and Immunity, plus a +225% Assassination Spectre Sniper Rifle with two Scram Rail VII and High Explosive Rounds X. That's right bitches, Shepard wields a tank cannon. The Vanguard got endless praise for ME1 but it never held a candle to the Infiltrator for me. You just can't compare to a sniper rifle that good. Plus the whole "endless Immunity" thing meant it was almost impossible to die once you got to that point, even standing in the open against Colossi or Threshers.

Dragon Age Origins: Human Male Mage/Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage. Again, played the pinnacle of all that was right and good in the world. As such, Morrigan didn't spend more than Lothering in my party before I booted her into camp and never touched the whiny cow again. I basically did every 'good' choice in the game, with the exception of putting Bhelen on the throne. I believe in planning for the future, and Bhelen's revisionist ideals are superior to Harrowmont who is rather more stuck in the mud about things.

None of my party died/got killed/betrayed me. I saved everyone, because I'm just that hardcore. I even managed to get Alistair and Anora to marry. When the time came for the ritual with Morrigan, I made Alistair do it. Oh sure, he'd just got married to his hot new queen, but I'll be damned if I was going to cheat on Leliana. My only regret for that playthrough was that my DLC stopped working so I couldn't get Shale.

Oh well, there's always a New Game.

Also, the Return to Ostagar stuff just cracked me up. I jump in to save this guy who gets stabbed, and then it says [Download(Purchase?) Content] Revive whateverthisguy'snameis. I just thought it was hilarious how I could leave this guy bleeding out in the middle of a dirty forest surrounded by the corpses of his attackers until I bother to shell out the £4 or so for Return to Ostagar. Could at least revive him and then give me the [Purchase Content] popup.

Mass Effect 2: My Infiltrator made a return with a bunch of new swanky powers at her disposal (Invisibility? Sniper Slowdown? Yes please!) Once again she rocked up the Paragon, although thanks to the new interrupt system she had a few Renegade moments like pushing a guy out of a skyscraper window. When the big finish came around, not one of my crew members died and I got all my party out alive.

Because I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite store on the Citadel no one gets left behind. No one.

Oh yeah, and I totally dumped Oily McHeadsweat for Garrus :3

Baldur's Gate------------

Haven't played it. NEVER WILL!

Supposedly amazing, but I've been let down by "classic" games too many times when I finally played them.

*glares at Ocarina of Time*

Jade Empire------------

Total dick. Melee styles.

Mass Effect---------

Total dick Soldier first run. Ashley, Wrex lived.

Nice guy Vanguard second run, uses as ME2 import. Kaidan, Wrex lived. Ashley is a stupid xenophobe and deserved to die.

KOTOR-------------

Total dick. Blasters and force, iirc.
