@berenzen: pretty sure youre thinking blood pressure. last i checked erections werent controlled by muscles.
There are a couple muscles in the corpus cavernosa that are relaxed that allow blood to enter it, increasing pressure, and therefore size. When it contracts, thats when you go flaccid. Anyways I have a large portion of my sheet up and I just wanted to see clarifications made before I submit it.

Name: John Morgan

Age: 157

Sex: Male

Species: Vampire

Profession: Lawyer

Appearance: Being a human at the age of 15 when he became a vampire, John failed to physically develop from that point on, rendering him quite short for a vampire and a relatively weak appearance. John maintains a head of thick, black hair kept fairly short and slicked back. John has icy blue eyes and almost always wears a black suit.

Personality: John is known for his sociopathic behavior and for his ruthlessness as a lawyer. He prefers to avoid company and pursue his own interests alone, mistrusting others and staying in the confines of his own home whenever possible. However, through experience gained from his many years of living John is able to be quite charismatic when he needs to be. John is disgusted at the idea of a husk and proudly views humans as lesser beings, he has quickly forgotten that he was originally a human himself. A cautious individual, John always carries with him an old revolver, which he has maintained in good condition throughout the years and some silver bullets, though he knows he can use his supernatural strength and cunning to overcome most threats.

Bio: John grew up in London, and was born in 1873, knowing none of his family other than his mother. At the age of 15 John witnessed his mother become a victim of the vampire known then as Jack the Ripper. John tried to fight his mothers assailant but was unable to overcome the seemingly impossible strength and speed of the man. Before leaving, the vampire left John with one final gift, the curse of the vampire.

For years John managed to keep his existence as a vampire secret, and studied diligently to practice as a lawyer, striving to uphold justice where he could. However, the primal need to feed wore away at him inside and he was forced to seek blood at night. He tried not to kill his meals and was successful at first, but slowly the beast inside him took over and soon enough John had claimed his first life. An accident, he assured himself but he knew that he enjoyed the kill, and more of his victims would turn up dead. John became no better than the murderers he had originally sworn to condemn, warping his morals into those of a hungry, though cunning animal. John earned himself various names as a notorious serial killer, but was careful and his identity was never discovered. John was forced to move locations many times and eventually found himself in New York City, 2030.
In this universe Vampirism is genetic, not a transferred blood curse. So you're gonna probably need to do some severe editing, or a brand new character.

Name: Gerard Gregory Godfrey

Age: 38

Sex: Male

Species: Vampire

Profession: Black ops operative for the CIA.

Appearance: Gerard is 6'4" with brown hair and blue eyes. He is fairly handsome with an unblemished face. He is paler than most people, though it doesn't stop him from doing his job. Gerard is toned, his muscles are there, but not overly built. When he is off work, he typically wears unmarked t-shirts and jeans with oxford style shoes.

Personality: Gerard is typically very quiet, yet is charismatic when he needs to be. He dislikes open confrontation, believing that when it happens, something has gone horribly wrong. He prefers, if someone needs to die, that he be on the butt end of a sniper rifle. Due to his job, he also is fairly paranoid, always checking where everyone is. He is hypervigilant and extremely routine, having an extremely set schedule.

Bio: Gerard was born in Langley, Virgina to a pair of Elders. He was taught the various stealth skills at a young age. He also learned how to hunt during his adolescent years, giving away meat to the local food shelters. In addition to learning English, he also learned the French language. He rarely took blood from another human, though he learned how to do it.

At university, Gerard majored in Political Science and minored in Linguistics. After graduating with a 3.3 GPA, he applied to the CIA as a clandestine operative and was accepted into the Professional Trainee Program. After a couple years of training, he entered the CST program, then eventually became a Operations Officer. When the Blood Riots broke out two years later, Gerard was recruited into a black ops program, despite being ousted as a Vampire. He was stationed in Manhattan to protect the peace, sometimes using lethal force to stop someone from disrupting it. When not on assignment, he doubles as a language tutor, teaching French to those who are willing to learn.

After the Riots, Gerard was kept stationed in New York, living in an apartment in the Upper-East side, though he has several safehouses located around the city, provided by the CIA. He has made friends and contacts throughout the East side, both humans and vamps. He currently has a younger human woman courting him due to his sterility. Furthermore, he fathered a child for a female homosexual friend during his university years, who wished to have a child with her partner. He still keeps in contact with her, she too lives in the Upper-East side. He uses the blood banks rather than husks, believing that making humans into husks is morally wrong, as it creates an unkickable addiction. He will sometimes feed on humans, but only if consent is given and the human is disease free.

Questions and criticisms are welcome. I can edit where needed.

Well could just use the exact same character with a different origin story.

Also, when you talk about gonads deteriorating, I assume you are just talking about the testes, not the whole productive organ. Am I incorrect in my assumption?
Its been a while since I've done biology so I'm assuming that would be the case, I shall google such things after work and adjust as needed.
I was going to ask about this as well, since it would really blow if vampires couldn't have sex beyond that brief window of years.

@Void: Questions, Round Three (*ding-ding*)

* Are the school systems divided into vampire and human or are they mixed.

School systems are not divided save for some certain private schools which become more rare every year due to increased toleration of the vampire species.
Also on this note, how would the schools operate, since vampire students wouldn't be able to attend during the day unless all the windows were blocked out or specially tinted to stop all UV rays.
To answer all questions regarding the testicles of vampires since that seems to be a popular subject, the gonads are another name for the testies which like Skye said, would not simply shrivel and fall off as hilarious as that would be but rather stop producing sperm. An erection is caused by blood flow so a vamp has no issues getting it up.

As for schools, the windows are tinted bringing the UV down to acceptable levels. On high intense UV days though, it isn't uncommon to have the vampires be allowed to miss school. Vampire school buses run through the underground to allow the vampire to board and have blacked out windows to avoid sunlight. They are then brought to the schools vampire unloading bay, a building that is connected to the school and brought into the building.

This then leads into the question brought up previously about the UV tolerance of vampires. While minor doses of UV might slightly irritate or burn a vampire, only the sun or equivilent UV exposure will cause the sudden and immediate death of the vampire, its the threshold so to speak. In recent years it has been discovered that due to low volume exposure to UV that vampire's tolerance has grown even in the last ten years.

Yeah thanks for telling me :) I wondered about that but I don't think the original post was clear about it and wasn't in the mood for trawling through the posts to find out.

Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

Genesis 4:8

Then the Lord replied to him, "Therefore, whosoever slayeth Cain vengeance will suffer vengeance seven times over. "And the Lord set a Mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. Then Cain went out from the Lord's presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

QUESTION TIME MOTHAFUCKA.

So, how much graphic sex and violence are we talking here? I mean, vampire stories are known for their copious amounts of sexuality and gore, so I'm expecting at least an R. Maybe pushing an NC-17.

In all seriousness, I'm kind of out of it at the moment so I apologise if I've simply missed something reading through the thread, but if a vampire's life span is 150-200 years, do they reach adulthood at the same age a human would and then live out a far longer adult life, or is each part of their life extended? For example, would a teenage vampire have a longer adolescence than a teenage human, or would they both be about the same but when reaching adulthood the vampire's life span stretches longer?

Also, if it's the case where a vampire's teenage years are extended, would they mentally grow with time and simply be an adult living in a younger body, or would they keep a degree of immaturity and impertinence?

Thirdly, how common are vampire/human friendships/relationships, specifically at a young age? Is there a degree of mingling or does each species tend to stick to themselves out of fear or prejudice?

[sub][sub][sub]Also your avatar is just about the best thing ever. Kthxbai.[/sub][/sub][/sub]
If there isn't any hardcore porn within the first page I'm calling this RP a failure obviously.

Anyways most of your questions were answered at some point, until about the age of 20 vampires appear to age at the same rate as humans, its only during and after the mating stage that their physical appearance slows. A vampire thus matures just as fast as a human would.

Vampire and human friendships are a mixed bag, ironically enough its the older generation that became the most accepting since they'd have already known these friends for years before finding out they were vampires whereas kids are less trusting, especially after reading school literature like say Dracula or something.

@Lost Hey! I have another idea. I am currently playing around with a character arch-type I've seen earlier in a literary piece, so he isn't very original, but I really liked him. Cottard, a man with a past of getting in trouble with the law, tries to commit suicide after he had committed an unspeakable act and assumes he is now wanted by the police. He fails his attempt at suicide and is then rescued by a doctor that does what he says and does not call the police.

Fueled by the fears and panic caused by this new developments, he begins to traffic in various goods - for humans, he would sell garlic, silver and also commodities that don't really affect Vampires, but are believed to, actually selling junk for money. For Vampires, he supplies them with various blood samples, information and other junk he claims that would help them in this new world. He basically profits off of the fears of the humans and the vampires, not worried in the slightest from the threat of vampires or the growing civil unrest, because to him, it's business as usual.

I know. But he will also claim that stuff that affect them in folklore does ward them off. Like Alchohol against the plague in the Alber Kami novella.

You seem to be thinking that there's enough of a market for that, there's mild distrust but nothing so extreme as hatred except in something like say simply a hate group, like a anti-vampire KKK or WBC, but like those two groups in real life, they're not that large and thus wouldn't sustain a business. I really do hate shooting down your ideas but in this world vampires aren't the monsters feared by all.

It's fine. I didn't feel comfortable with borrowing a character anyway, but now I know what NOT to do for my next try.

Name: Valerie Chevalier

Age: 34

Sex: Female

Species: Human Husk

Profession: A Scientist at Quest Labs, a research facility dealing with vampire and husk pharmaceuticals. Her are of expertise is vampire biology, so she deals with the testing and diagnosis for a lot of the blood samples sent to her lab from hospitals. In her free time she teaches at a University, usually beginners Biology or Genetics.

Appearance: 5'10", dusty brown hair tied up in a bun, slim glasses more for reading than for actual sight over hazel eyes. Average build, with no outstanding features either way. Her nails are usually painted, and she wears a plain gold ring on the middle finger of her right hand. Since her schedule allows little time for anything other than work, Valerie is often seen wearing her lab coat over a practical outfit such as a black turtleneck sweater, jeans, and sneakers.

Personality: Valerie is a typical scientist. She has little time for things not related to her work, and little energy to dedicate to such activities. Her daily schedule is a rigid routine: wake up at 6:00am, shower at 6:10am, eat breakfast with a small dose of vampire blood at 6:50am, leave for work at 7:00am. All projects must be completed by 6:00pm, at which time she returns to her family's vampire estate in a district on the Upper East Side. Dinner must be ready and consumed by 7:00pm, when she feeds her sister. Bedtime is at 11:00pm.

She craves structure and ritual, rarely deviating from her daily activities. There are areas where she allows deviation, such as during experiments, but if any part of her routine is disturbed it throws her whole day off. Even something small like her bag not being on the proper hook extremely irritates her. The only source of a break in her monotonous life is Maelle, who travels to various parts of the world for her galleries and such.

She treats everyone with the same impersonal attitude: vampire, husk, human, it doesn't matter to her. When it comes to her own state as a Husk, Valerie couldn't care less what people think about her. Being a husk, to her, was just another advantage. She sees no reason why everyone shouldn't be a husk: in her opinion it's the next evolutionary step.

Bio: Valerie was born to heterozygous vampire parents. Her mother Therese and her aunt Madeline were twins, both impregnated by her father. There was no bad blood between them: they understood that both of them could only mother one child each, and agreed to raise them together while their mate went off to father more children. Valerie was born on the same day as her half-sister/cousin Maelle, who was born a full-blooded vampire. As they grew up they could pass for twins, save her cousin's prominent canines and paler complexion.

They grew up as best friends for several years, growing up in the same house and the same room for 16 years. Maelle's childhood Husk died in an accident when Maelle was 10, and Valerie stepped in without hesitation. She was already a husk: the Cavalier's fed her vampire blood when she was very young as a way of bonding, but Valerie was not fed on. The family hired a group of communal husks, as it were, and so were able to forbid anyone from feeding on Valerie.

Being one of the only humans in her vampire family, save a few half-siblings on her father's side, Valerie adopted a lot of their mannerisms. Her parents and aunts treated her no different than the other children, and Therese and Madeline in particular both lavished her and her half-sister with gifts and affections.

They were sent to a private school in Seattle, Washington, until High School, where they were put in classes with a higher vampire to human ratio. Both girls did well until Maelle dropped out to become a well-known painter. Her beautiful landscapes were highly sought after for galleries and private collections, giving her a good source of income.

Without her sister, Valerie was able to put all of her energy into her studies, only serving as a husk to her sister at night. She graduated and went on to become a research biologist, returning to her family's home with sister in tow to find a place to settle down. While Maelle found plenty of suitors, Valerie distanced herself, unsure of what she wanted in the future, and aware (and afraid) that her children could be vampires if she married one.

Instead she immersed herself in her work, researching possible vampire blood substitutes for both husks and vampires to market as enhancements. Her research has contributed to the release of several medicines specifically catered for vampires, including modified versions of ibuprofin, acetaminophen, naproxen, and notriptyline.

Seriously, though, people are still working on character sheets, myself included. Some of us take time to produce our contributions to the role-play.

(Pardon my errors but a pad is in use right now, a 99 dollar one!)
So if I'm to be understanding what I've read so far you are aiming in this the classic Vampires are real with no real mythological down turns, in a society adapted to there needs and wants to live in a more or less average world?

Minus any intense wars, feuds, or bouts going around in a crazed war between humanity in a dramatic overture or conspirzcy theories?
With people merely playing a part in all this as life would have them be?
This is out of curiosity not animosity, or even belief that this is an atrocity.
