Today class we will be studying Cainism in our Religious Studies. As you know it is the primary religion of most vampires, dating back to the first supposed murder, stemming between a conflict between Caine and his brother Abel. While Christianity say it was a fit of jealousy that caused Caine to murder his brother and be cast from his parent's sight to wander the land of Nod. Cainism has its own theories on this story. Instead he was said to be the first genetic vampire, caused by some divine intervention of God.

It was Satan who tempted Caine and in the first feasting of human blood, the first taste of human flesh and Lucifer's work was done. Caine was taken from the land of Eden and sent into the Land of Nod. Without God's leadership Caine fell to corruption, feeding off animals and as the generations of men grew, he fed off them as well and his strength grew. As did the Beast. The Beast consumed Caine infecting his thoughts and creating a monster that people feared for generations.

It was the before the Flood that Caine realized what he was. Warned by God that his taint would be extinguished in the Great Flood if he did not control himself. That his evil would be washed away unless he sought refuge with the beings he thought of as food. It was a compromise between Caine and Noah that allowed Caine to continue their kind. It was also Noah's offering of his two sons Shem and Ham that created the first Husks to keep Caine sustained over the Flood's duration. According to the followers of Cainism this was the first time that vampire and human coexisted and is the standard they set to this day.

The Marked; a radical sect of Cainism see the story a little different. According to the Marked, the Lord created the flood not to destroy Caine's food source as an ultimatum but to instead destroy all but a few humans to allow vampires to flourish when he found that in the long run the vampire was better equipped for survival in the world he had created. It was made so Caine would use Noah and his family as cattle.

It is this belief that causes the Marked to create Husks without consent and why so many are jailed for this crime. Like the holy Ji'hads of Islam, it is simply a piece of their faith so deeply ingrained that this kind of behaviour would be acceptable by their standards. You will note that the newer generations of those of the Marked Faith have Caine's symbol tattooed on their forehead, while the older generations have it scarred into their forehead. It is a sign of commitment to the faith and its doctrine.

Now I want an eight page essay by Monday on the differences between the two religions and what we could do to accommodate the Marked without making them surrender their faith; any extension requests can be emailed to me, preferably not on the night before the deadline?

(Pardon my errors but a pad is in use right now, a 99 dollar one!)
So if I'm to be understanding what I've read so far you are aiming in this the classic Vampires are real with no real mythological down turns, in a society adapted to there needs and wants to live in a more or less average world?

Minus any intense wars, feuds, or bouts going around in a crazed war between humanity in a dramatic overture or conspirzcy theories?
With people merely playing a part in all this as life would have them be?
This is out of curiosity not animosity, or even belief that this is an atrocity.
From what I can understand, you're wondering whether this is just humans and vampires coexisting together then yes that is what this RP's setting is, to assume there is no conspiracy, and mysteries though, is completely incorrect; wouldn't be a very exciting RP without them.

The reveal of the second of three characters I'll be playing as. Expect the final reveal to the last update before the characters are selected.

"Shit, shit?.shit!" Sarah looked at the corpse on the floor in front of her. Contrary to popular belief vampires only burned when exposed to UV. When they died by other means they just sat there and rotted just like any other person. The problem with them is they never stopped bleeding; even now there was still a small spurt of blood exiting the neck where a silver butcher's knife laid buried. She only realized what she had done when he had stopped moving, what the cost of her little rebellion was.

She moved towards the door, wrenching it open before pausing just for a second. She looked at his body and the succulent blood oozing slowly across the floor. Sure he had been an ass, but that blood inside him was as good as any other. She closed the door softly, the latch quieting clicking behind her as she knelt to the floor and caught some of the pooling blood in her hands. The blood was cold, but she didn't care as she put her hands to her lips and drank deeply. It was as if her mind came alive again, an immediate clarity that made her love life again.

Her plans become a little more coherent after her drink. She left through the window of his house instead of the front door, a soft paranoid voice saying that allowing for the potential sight of her leaving was not an intelligent idea. Her house wasn't far from his, a couple blocks maybe; maybe that was why she had found it so convenient, and maybe that was why she had allowed it to go so far. It didn't matter anymore, what mattered was that she needed a new vampire before the withdrawal symptoms hit her again and she did something stupid.

For the public: Questions Rounds 4 (and 5 because I forgot some):

Husks:

Would a Husk typically live with a vampire or just live somewhere nearby close enough they can be utilized whenever?
Does becoming a husk help counter diseases or physical weaknesses?
Are there risk factors in becoming a husk (for the very old/very young or even normal healthy humans)?
Is it possible to become a husk with only consuming vampire blood but not involving a vampire biting said husk?
Does becoming a husk change one's blood type?
Can husks donate blood?
Can husks have children?

Vampires:

Do vampires usually have perfect eyesight, hearing, etc, or are they prone to weaknesses in those areas just like humans?
Do vampires have a blood type?
Does the vampire's system change the blood they intake into something that's different when it's shed?
Do vampires urinate?

Society and Laws:

To get blood from a blood bank what are the legal requirements (name? d.o.b.? home address?)?
Would there be any kind of 'bankrupt' or 'welfare' or 'blood-stamps' where impoverished husks could get blood?
Is forcing someone to become a husk illegal?
Is there a separate census for humans and vampires?
Are husks tracked? By law or by third parties?
Are there legal requirements for husk/vampire relationships (or even standard requirements in contracts?)
Does 9-1-1 still exist?

Misc:

Do animals react to vampires in any particular way?
Can alcohol and blood be mixed?

[hr]

Vampires...
How often does a vampire have to feed and how often do husks have to get their fix? Normally.

...and Husks
Can Husks eat normal food?
Is the Husk transformation instant?
Is the addiction instant?
Do the enhanced abilities change at all if a husk goes without their fix?
Are the withdrawal signs unique?

Society and Laws
Businesses
Are there any businesses that would seek out vampires/husks specifically?
Are there any jobs or establishments that don't like husks (sort of the 'no colored's) thing?

Police
Is there a black market for blood? For say...starving Husks who can't afford any other options? Blood banks? Equivalents to half-way houses?
Is it illegal to purchase vampire blood on the street?
Are humans allowed to arm themselves with anti-vampire things, legally? Say for businesses and the like.

Hospitals and Support
Are there any kind of emergency protocols for dealing with 'de-toxing' husks at hospitals?
Are there any sort of...support groups for Husks? Either on the 'how not to be one anymore' or 'how to deal with being one' or 'let's all gather together' theme?
Are hospitals required to report vampire or husks crimes any differently than human ones?
Are hospitals required to report vampire blood related crimes to the police?

For the public: Questions Round 4:
Husks:

1. Husks have been known to live with their vampires, even go as far as date and marry them, but it is not required. Many live in the same neighbourhoods and districts though as to remain convenient for both parties.

2. Husks get a slightly boosted immune system as a side effect of becoming a husk, but at the same time due to the nature of their work they can become more susceptible to blood born diseases. After all there is a lot of blood transfer. Things like nearsightedness and whatnot are not corrected.

3. There aren't any real risk save from the actual addiction to becoming a husk. The usual risks usually stem from whether the vampire buggers up and bites too deep when feeding on you, but other than that, usually no issue.

4. The biting process is not needed to change into a husk, it all comes down to the vampire blood being consumed by the individual and passes through the blood system. All other parts are not required.

5. Being a husk does not change your blood type per sec. However blood transfusions generally require a mix of vampire and human blood to keep the body stable during the transfusions.

6. Husks can donate blood, but due to the changed nature of it and the somewhat not understood nature of the changes, they're only used for either husk to husk transfusions or husk to vampire transfusions.

7. Husks can have children but there are severe risks to it while being reliant on vampire blood. Due to the extra hormones in vampire blood, you can wind up with results close to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Vampires:

1. Vampires can have the same physical faults that humans can have such as nearsightedness, blindness and what not. However it should be noted that generally it is heterozygous vampires that have these potential issues and not ones of pure vampire traits.

2. Their blood is indeed different than humans or husks so a new blood type was coined for them, the cliche Type V blood. However this is the only known variant of vampire blood.

3. Vampires change the ingested blood into vampire blood through hormones and enzymes sent into the blood during its circulation.

4. Vampires do indeed urinate; however it isn't more than just a clear plasma since that is the only aspect of the blood that their systems do not use.

Laws and Society:

1. In order to obtain blood from a bank you need to have a valid ID and home address. And money. Always money.

2. There is no charity for blood, you don't have the cash or someone willing to donate, you don't get blood.

3. Forced husking is a felony and punished under the full extent of the law

4. There are separate censuses for humans and vampires to track the ratios between the two species.

5. At current time, there is no registry for husks, however congress is voting on the issue at the beginning of the RP's events. Its caused a small but vocal uproar about lack of privacy.

6. It is common practice for contracts to be written up between husks and vampires but they are in no way legally binding at this point. It is more of a formality and friendly gesture that terms have been set.

7. Yes 9-1-1 still exists

Misc:

1. Animals are generally more friendly to vampires due to the attractant pheromones that vampires give off naturally.

2. Yes blood and alcohol do mix.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Vampires:

1. Vampires generally need to feed at least once a day to remain healthy. After 3-4 days on average the first symptoms of falling to the Beast become evident and no vampire can be starved more than a week without dying. Husks generally need vampire blood once a week and after that if they don't receive it, the addiction becomes more and more powerful over time.

Husks:

1. Yes Husks can eat normal food, in fact some that don't like the taste of blood will sometimes mix it into the food to dilute the taste.

2. The Husk transformation takes place over 24 hours but can be noticeable in the first 12 hours.

3. The addiction is indeed instant, but it is not noticed until around the first week when it starts to kick in if the Husk hasn't drank vampire blood.

4. The effects of becoming a husk are permanent and without blood become stronger in an urge to be able to attain the needed blood quicker.

5. Withdrawl signs are not unlike coming off meth in terms of physical and mental states. Including sores, depression, paranoia and the like.

Society and Laws:
(Businesses)

1. Night shifts and physical labour jobs are great for vampires and husks due to their increased physical abilities.

2. Blood banks generally avoid hiring husks and vampires for obvious reasons.

(Police)

1. There is a growing black market for blood. Its generally cheaper than the bank stuff but its quality is much less assured.

2. Street blood is illegal to purchase. Blood can only be donated by a straight source with the vampire 'donating' cash back to the husk and vice versa. Buying prepackaged blood is illegal due to the dangers associated with it.

3. Just like some firms have security, they also can have anti vampire weapons such as silvers stakes and the like, but they need to be registered like other weapons.

(Hospitals and Support)

1. There are various protocols for hospitals to preform when dealing with husks, usually blood giving and explanation of the terms are the first steps while advising help to those who never intended to be one.

2. There are AA type meetings that husks can attend to talk to each other about being Husks

3. Crimes are reported the same as if it was a stabbing related visit or gun wound related visit. Basically its been integrated into the 'possible crime report' grounds that the former examples are part of.

4. Trafficking is the only aspect of vampire blood that the police really keep track of, so unless the doctor finds illegal blood on the victim its generally not pursued.

Name: Maximilian (Max) Sorin Hawkesworth
Age: 37
Sex: Male
Species: Vampire

Appearance: Max stands at 5'8" tall, with short black hair, the pale skin normally associated with more stereotypical vampires, and dark blue eyes. Since he sleeps during the day - and is incapable of going out into the sunlight during that time anyway - he enjoys walking the streets at night... though if he isn't going to a party or similar gathering, he tries to keep a somewhat low profile due to being recognised by fans of his work.

Max can commonly be found wearing either a suit with a blue or red tie, or much more casual clothing (usually along the lines of a buttoned shirt, long pants and comfortable shoes). Either way, he wears the same steel-and-leather watch on his left hand.

Personality: Max is usually a cheerful, upbeat person; he isn't one of the stereotypical tear-your-hair-out writers who agonises over every sentence he produces. Rather he prefers to write when in a bright or peaceful frame of mind, even for the darker or more morbid aspects of his work. Max always tries to avoid writing scenes that are relevant to his own experiences or his nocturnal lifestyle, despite the fact that vampires are now much more common in popular culture: you will never see a vampiric main character in his books.

Max socialises well with humans, Husks and vampires in equal measure: he does not fear humans and their violent tendencies towards his kind, even if they might fear him due to his nature. He tries to pass himself off as human when out on the streets or for photo-shoots (for the inside back cover of his books, or if he is ambushed by photographers), public appearances, book-signings and the like: many of his fans speculate about his species in their spare time.

When talking to people in an interview - either as the interviewer or interviewee - Max is cool, calm and collected, preferring to speak plainly rather than dance around a subject. He only trusts people with the fact that he has distanced himself from his work via a pseudonym once he can be assured that they will keep it quiet: this is to ensure that people do not report anything and everything he does to the media. Seeing his own face splashed on the tabloids irritates him a little.

Profession: Max is a novelist. His debut piece was a self-published sci-fi novel titled Victory's Hand, named after the starship which played a pivotal role in the novel. It was first sold in 2017, and soon made it to the #2 position on the New York Times' bestseller list for fiction writing.

Since then Max has produced six more novels, four of which were science-fiction like his debut and focusing on the same group of characters in the same universe. Over the past couple of years, he has begun to delve into the genre of crime and murder mystery. While the first of his crime novels, White Light Shining, did not garner as much praise as his sci-fi work, his second, An Angel At Rest, received considerably better reviews. Max's books have yet to reach the #1 rank on any major lists, but that doesn't stop him from trying.

Max uses the pseudonym "Gideon S. West" when writing, and has done so since his career started. He chose to do this to distance his identity as a vampire from that of the somewhat well-known novelist he has become.

The following is a list of books Max has written, which are currently available for sale:
- Victory's Hand (science fiction) (originally self-published, first sold 2017)
- Heaven's Tears (science fiction) (first sold 2020)
- Delaque's Choice (science fiction) (first sold 2022)
- Ancient's Grace (science fiction) (first sold 2025)
- Redemption's Fire (science fiction) (first sold 2027)
- White Light Shining (crime) (first sold 2028)
- An Angel At Rest (crime) (first sold 2029)

Biography:

Born in 1993 to a vampire mother and human father, Maximilian was part of a fairly well-off family in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Matthew and Adriana Hawkesworth are joint owners of a twenty-four-hour cafe a block away from their apartment, and still run it to this day along with Adriana?s Husk companion, a woman named Joanne Hayes.

It was Adriana who took more care of the boy than her husband: she taught him how to feed on blood, and how to control himself in doing so. From a young age, when Max was old enough to go to school, Adriana constantly stressed the need for caution, being careful about the differences between humans and vampires, and reminding the young lad not to scare his human classmates - and never to feed on them. Max was to restrain himself at all times, never retaliating to the bullies that were inevitably present in such a mixed-species environment: it would only make the situation bad if he bit another student.

Max was a good student in school, and a quick learner. During his time at elementary school, his chief interests were mathematics, dice games and reading. At the schools he attended, he had a wide circle of friends, both vampire and human. Throughout these years, he was always careful not to scare any of the humans he met: in the later years of high school he was actually dating a human by the name of Alizabeth Russell. Their relationship ended when Alizabeth and her family moved to Los Angeles; her father received a job offer just before the end of the school year. Despite this, Max achieved decent marks in most if not all of his finals.

Max took a year's break between leaving high school and going to college: he had studied a melange of different subjects, and was unsure of what he wanted to do. In this time he tried different things, ranging from a short acting course to an introduction to advanced physics... and it was during this time wondering what he wanted to do that he discovered something he was good at, something that could earn him a good amount of money, with the right education and a good amount of time and effort.

That something turned out to be writing. When putting pen to page or fingers to keyboard, Maximilian found countless new worlds just waiting for him to write about them. And write he did: fiction was his preference. Even the smallest of ideas quickly became interesting tales. Most of them were by no means of any quality - Max was well aware of this fact - but he kept at it. He visited libraries to research the subject: how to go about planning a story, developing characters, making sure all the loose ends were tied up by the end of it all... and of course, reading plenty of books of varying genres. Max supplemented this research by investing in literary courses at college, where they taught him to write extended pieces.

After two years of study, Max took a job as a bartender while he wrote, self-edited and finished his first proper novel. The result, a science-fiction piece entitled Victory's Hand, took the better part of three years to write. It was different from his nigh-random dabbling in short stories and suchlike; sticking to a plot and committing to it required much more focus, and it was slow going as a result. The novel focused on a futuristic universe, with heavy emphasis on space travel and multiple alien species co-existing alongside humans and vampires. Victory's Hand detailed a journey across the galaxy, and the ten-man crew (led by Captain Ezekiel M. Delaque) that underwent it on the titular starship. The only trouble was, Max was new to the industry of writers and novels and suchlike. He had no idea where to go to get it published, or if anyone would accept it... so he took that role on himself. As a final touch, he invented the alias "Gideon S. West" to use as the author's name, after doing a quick check to see if anyone else by that name existed: he wasn?t entirely comfortable with having his own name on the front cover.

Getting a friend to help him design the cover, Max printed off a dozen copies of the novel and took it around bookstores, learning where he could find publishers from the more knowledgeable staff. A couple of copies were also left on tables in the cafe at which his family worked, for customers to read while they sipped drinks or ate pastries. Word of Gideon West and Victory's Hand began to spread around, and Max began to become part of the industry. Demand for the book grew, and he couldn't keep up with it on his own. Publishers approached him with wildly varying contracts, and he eventually settled on one, allowing them to reprint his novel with no changes. Reviewers got a hold of it, and Max's debut piece began to climb the charts as reviews piled in and sales were made, stopping at number 2 on the New York Times' Best-Seller List.

Soon the novel began to spread across the globe, as the publisher released it in other countries. Fans of the book began to clamour for a sequel, since Max had deliberately left the ending open to pick up in another book. He started work on a second novel in the series, having chosen not to start work on a new one until the success or failure of Victory's Hand had been determined. It took the better part of a year to write and edit his second piece, Heaven's Tears, but he got it done, and his publisher released a wave of books into the open arms of Max's fans. Over the years that followed, the name Gideon West became a popular one.

It was after the fourth novel, Ancient's Grace, had begun its first round of print in late 2025, that Shane Ashcroft, a close friend of Max's, married his high school sweetheart (a vampire by the name of Melissa Jones) and made plans to move to Canada with her. Shane had been Max's Husk since the two of them had started college together, but love trumped that arrangement. Shane had given Max fair warning, though: a year's notice was plenty of time. The novelist promptly placed an advertisement in the classifieds section of the daily newspaper as soon as he could. There were many applicants seeking to answer the ad, mostly Husks who were down on their luck and in need of a fix, but there were a few ordinary humans in among the Husks who were interested in gaining the benefits from vampire blood.

With a special publicist overseeing Max's search for a new Husk from which to feed, he conducted a series of interviews, with each applicant being asked the same questions: how long they had been a Husk; who they had provided blood for in the past; what were their reasons for becoming a Husk in the first place... it was all background checks in the beginning, to get a general impression of the interviewee. Not many people passed the first tests; they simply could not be trusted with Max's secrets. A large majority of the Husks who showed interest were more interested in finding someone to give them the blood they needed to sate their addictions, rather than get to know the vampire on whom they fed.

Then one day, the next applicant on the list was asked to come in for an interview. Breana Sterling was a fairly quiet - and somewhat attractive - woman, speaking little throughout the interview process; she gave short answers to most of Max's questions, only expanding on them when asked to do so. She appeared to be uncomfortable with Max's use of the term "Husk"... that was an interesting, if touchy, subject. Max did not press the matter in that initial interview, since Ms Sterling had given a less than accepting reaction to his use of the word, especially since it was used to describe her, or people like her: humans with the addiction to vampire blood.

Most of the interviewees had previously failed to meet Max's standards... but Breana was different, somehow. In her, Max saw a woman who could be trusted, one who shared the interests of literature and reading that had inspired him to become a writer. It was revealed that Ms Sterling intended to become a teacher, eventually. Max had great respect for educators; after all, he wouldn't have gotten where he was now without school and college.

The human agreed to a second interview at a later date: it was during this second meeting that Max revealed himself to be Gideon West, the novelist; the name was a pseudonym he had come up with, rather than his proper identity. Ms Sterling seemed a little surprised to hear this, but accepted it, along with the agreement that that knowledge was to be entirely confidential. Gideon's species was up for debate, and Max liked to keep it that way. It turned out that she hadn't actually read any of the four books he had written and published: Max took that easily enough, knowing that not every genre appealed to everyone.

After the second interview, Max and Breana drew up a written contract, and both signed it to show their agreement. It stated that in addition to the exchange of blood between vampire and human, Max would also provide her with accommodation in the form of sharing his residence, and pay her a wage as additional compensation for allowing him to feed off of her. Previously, Max had purchased a penthouse apartment near the eastern vampire district of New York City. The contract also states that either party, Max or Breana, is free to end the agreement at any time should they choose to do so: they do, however, have to provide advance warning.

Max and Breana got to know one another reasonably well over the next three years. Initially giving blood for the other person was a little awkward at first, but that soon passed as they learned more about one another and got used to them. As with the previous Husks who had provided blood for him, Max took great care never to hurt Breana when he bit her. In doing so, he was gentle, respectful and courteous, and always asked her permission before feeding - unlike some of the ruder vampires he had known, who tended to bite first and apologise later. Some didn't even apologise. But Max wasn't like that. In his eyes, humans and Husks are equals when compared to his own species, and are always to be treated as such; this belief holds true to the present day.

During the time Max and Breana got to know each other, the vampire wrote three more novels, occasionally bouncing ideas off of his new friend and companion, or inviting her to read over drafts and critique them. He found that he was getting better at writing over time; in the past it had taken him three years to write one book, let alone two more. With the second of these three, he began to venture into the genre of modern-day crime and murder mystery. After being published and released, White Light Shining was first received as an interesting change from "Gideon's" previous works, but reviewers took it down a notch. Many stated that it was not as good as his science-fiction writing, especially since it was his first attempt at such a novel.

The less than stellar results of White Light Shining did not deter Max, however, as he pressed on with a follow-up to the book: An Angel At Rest, released in 2029. This new addition garnered much higher praise from critics and reviews, easily out-performing White Light Shining in both sales and quality.

These days, Max Hawkesworth has become a well-known figure in the business of writing. Or, at least, Gideon West has. The general consensus on "Gideon's" writing habits - as far as the media knows - is that he spends his days shut up in his penthouse apartment, working. It's long been accepted that he doesn't get out during the day, instead choosing to make appearances at night, attending book-signings and parties and suchlike in the later hours. A fair few people have their suspicions about the writer's species, but his fans across the globe are indifferent as long as he keeps turning out new books for their reading pleasure.

The recent string of vampire murders worries Maximilian a little, and he has taken to cutting his walks on the streets shorter than usual as a result. As a result he has spent a lot more time at home, either working, brainstorming or generally relaxing, trying to ease the mild paranoia he occasionally feels.

Max is currently working on two more books to be published either this year or the next: Ruler's Bane, to continue the Victory's Hand series, and Paraselene as a follow-up to his previous crime work.

Notes: In addition to his usual possessions (wallet, cellphone, keys, et cetera) Max carries a leather-bound notebook and a pen on him at all times, in case inspiration strikes when he isn't working and he needs to write something down.

Additional Note: Max's Apartment:
Max and Breana share a penthouse apartment on the top floor of their building: Max bought the apartment from the building's landlord rather than choosing to rent it. The apartment is fairly large: it houses its own library-office hybrid in which Max works; three individual bedrooms (one for Max, one for Breana and one for guests); a kitchen which has been more or less given to Breana, since she actually uses it whereas Max does not; and most of the other traditionally accepted facilities that humans and vampires need to go about their daily - or nightly - life.

The apartment's curtains and blinds are designed to avoid letting sunlight into the rooms when closed: neither of the occupants want to suffer from accidental exposure.

In political news today, protest increased in front of the Congress building in Washington where a controversial piece of legislation being voted on has garnered attention by the Husk and Vampire communities. Under this law; it would be required that all Husks register their own identities and the vampires they supply with blood. Naturally many consider this a violation of civil rights especially the right to privacy. With more on the story we go to our Washington political corresponding Ron Hather.

Thank you Veronica; the scene in Washington is one of terror and distrust as the Federal Government votes on this controversial bill. As you can see behind me, the demonstrations have become more violent and vocal as the bill gained strength. Now President O'Donnell has promised to support the bill if it makes it through Congress, something that the Democrat party has been quick to demonize the bill stating that the invasion of privacy goes against the very foundations of the American constitution. However with the radical response against it we can expect that Congress will take its ti-

Name: Jack Richardson

Age: 45

Sex: Male

Profession: Detective for the NYPD

Species: Human

Appearance: Jack is a white male about 5' 9." He normally wears a smoky grey suit with a red tie. His pants are freshly pressed slacks with a pair of comfortable loafers on his feet. He tries for a more traditional look, feeling that it makes him look distinguished at his age. He tops it off with a fedora that tries in vain to hide the grey that has begun to show in his hair. He tries to keep in shape by jogging but time has created a small gut that keeps him slightly self-aware. His hair that hasn't turned grey is a dark brown, something he is very thankful for when he looks in the mirror. While he wasn't going to ever score any modeling gigs, not even in his younger days, he has a rugged look about him that his wife claims makes him look very attractive and mature. He allows himself the small ego boost by believing it.

Personality: Being a cop means you get to see the worst kind of people. Jack got to see the killers, rapists, the drug lords and the common junkie shanking a guy for a couple bucks. Despite this he remains an optimist about people in general; he feels as if they should always be given a chance to surprise him for the better. "Judge not the downtrodden, but instead help them up," is the philosophy he carries and has carried since he first became a cop in 2005. This attitude is helped in part by his calm demeanour and friendly personality. Most people on his block know and respect him for his community work and that simple hello that he takes the time to say everyday on his jaunt to work. He is a regular church going Christian, but on the odd occasion he does take the time to visit the Church of Cain for another look on life.

He recently decided to become a vegetarian as well, not because of any moral qualm against the eating of meat, but instead on an advisement of his doctor who warned against fatty foods as a caution against heart disease which his family has a history of and because it would help Jack shed those couple of extra pounds he had been looking to lose. His look on life in general is one of acceptance and a drive to understand it. While many of his co-workers have a more cynical look at life due to the people they see every day, Jack looks at the people outside of his work as reason to continue it. With his elevation to Detective in 2015, he was allowed to continue to help people in a more personal matter which only helped strengthen his convictions that he was looking at life in the right way.

That said though, he does tend to become vocal when someone doesn't seem to grasp the severity of a situation he has begun to explain. This can be anything from recent political events, something he attempts to follow closely, to cases that need more attention. The latter frequently puts him at odds with his boss which, especially with the recent vampire murders, has caused tension between them. While friendly most of the time, he is blunt in his arguments, causing him to isolate many that may have actually been on his side if not for his attitude.

Bio: Jack was born in Boston on September 24th 1985. His father was a cop working a beat in downtown Boston and his mother served tables at a mock 50's diner. He grew up the oldest of 5 boys. Things were a little tight because of that, but his parents did their best to provide. School was tough for him; he wasn't a great student, normally preferring to slack off and flirt with girls, even at a young age. He wasn't usually successful but he tried anyways; it was better than learning math that?s for sure.

When he was 15, he experienced firsthand what being a cop's son meant. He came home to his house ransacked and the word "Pig," scrawled over the house in red spray paint. The worse part about it however, was the skinned pig on the dinner table. The thing stank and its lifeless eyes stared at him. His father's expression upon seeing his hard work destroyed was a look that Jack never forgot. His father didn't say a word, he picked up his jacket, his gun and his badge and left.

His father didn't return that night, or for most of the day after. His return was one unceremonious; for once he was in the back of the squad car, the red and blue lights flashing against the darkness the enveloped the city. He was suspended without pay pending an investigation. Jack's father was a quiet man and never explained what he had done, but even as a teenager Jack understood why. A man had a devotion to his family, a drive that he could never let go of. The need to protect, provide and to love his family came before all else. Jack realized this and decided that his job would be the same as his father's when the time came.

Life became a little more tight finance wise while his father was on leave. Jack spoke about them not knowing that it was tough but that was a lie fabricated as to not condemn his parents. The fact was, they knew the pains of hunger more than once, the sobs of his mother as she looked over the overwhelming bills and most importantly, the point where his father began to drink to forget the failures that began to pile up as his job at the police station vanished. The health insurance was the first to go, then the cars and soon even the house was in danger of being evicted.

It was this year that Jack graduated and immediately took a job as a security job to help pay the bills and support his father. Jack hated the man his father had become. There was no more family first man, just a figure that the whiskey had turned him into. A mess of unshaven, unbridled emotion that only served to hurt his mother emotionally and before too long, Jack also noticed the physical abuse. In 2004 his father died. Liver cancer, with no money to treat it, it was slow and it was painful. His father died a bitter alcoholic until the end. The priest that sat with his father said he confessed his sins before dying but Jack had a hard time believing that. His father, after all, had died years ago; it was only now that his body was catching up.

It was just after the funeral that Jack received a grant to go to university. His mother had begun to make a little more money and his other siblings were old enough to work, so he studied Law Enforcement and after the two year program was up, signed into the New York Police Department. He worked the beat like his father before him. Same beat, different city; downtown New York was a hell of a walk too.

It was never a large outstanding achievement that caused him to be promoted to Detective. It just sort of happened due to his diligence of work and general positive attitude. He was married the same year as his promotion 2015. He met his wife when he was delivering documents to a defendant's lawyer. Was it wrong that he then fell for that lawyer? Maybe, but he didn't care. He simply courted her and then married her. Their first attempt at having a child together failed. His wife suffered a miscarriage in the second trimester causing a deep seeded pain between them. They still love each other, but neither of them wants to go through the pain of losing another child that early. Thus it seems that Children are not in the books for them.

New question for you.

Suppose a vampire were to imbibe a mixed alcoholic drink (such as rum and Coke). What happens to the non-alcoholic part of the drink? How does it affect the vampire internally? Are there any lasting effects besides getting drunk from the booze?

Same that happens when our bodies ingest something useless. Its processed and ejected, usually in a vampires case via urine. In short the pop would take the sugars and what nots into the body and dispose of the remaining water.

I've finished my sheet, but before I post it I'd like to ask a few more questions.

1 - How do illegal drugs affect a vampire, especially ones with more potent and noticeable effects like LSD and Ecstasy?

2 - What are the suicide rates for vampires and husks like?

3 - Politically, how do vampires see themselves? Are there specific vampire parties and vampire rights organizations? Do vampire and human politicians try and cover all species or are they more targeted towards their own? Same question but with husks.

4 - In education, how much time is spent on human and vampire biology? Is it an equal amount or is there more of a focus towards humans? In history classes is there any focus put towards vampires?

5 - Can vampires have certain genetic mosaics and congenital disorders that humans do, such as heterochromia and albinism?
1. Since blood is a large part of the vampire's diet things ingested through the blood and into the brain like drugs and alcohol effect vampires more than humans and husks.

2. You would ask something like this; suicide amongst vampires is hard to track due to sunlight being the most common way to commit suicide. Thus you don't know if its accidental death or a suicide attempt. Husks however are much easier to track. Getting clean is the toughest thing a husk can do and as such most husks suicides stem from trying to get off vampire blood. They say that in every Blood Meeting of 10 at least 3 will either give up or kill themselves in the first month.

3. There are various vampire and husk rights groups but no political parties. Most vampires of the older generations are so used to being invisible socially that they don't even try to create a political party.

4. Human biology is still the primary taught one but the need for vampire research scientists, vampire biology is becoming more popular in the classroom.

5. They ain't magical creatures, nature fucks up with them just as much as humanity is

@Kasurami: I just have one small question about your character... how did he feed, both when he was younger and in the present day? His father appears to have more or less cut him off from human contact in the early years of his life... that would make feeding fairly difficult, I imagine.

@CounterAttack His father, with the funds to support it, purchased illegal pre-packaged blood for his family after the birth of his son.

And now, for more questions -

How common is the use of legal drugs amongst vampire youth, such as smoking and drinking?

Are prison sentences extended or modified for vampires due to their lasting youth?

Are there special prisons or institutions for vampires to begin with?

How common is it for mentally unsound husks to think they are vampires outright?

How are husks perceived by younger humans and vampires? (around ages 8-16)
Usually about the same as human youth due to the mingling of the two species now. Even with vampires peer pressure is a seriously problem.

Life sentences are 40 years by default for humans, for vampires this is extended to 80 years due to extended life spans.

Institutions are the same for vampires and humans though they're generally segregated from each other to avoid...feedings.

Usually this is only the case if the patient is already seriously deranged, the instinct for vampire blood that Husks get with the addiction subconsciously calls for vampire blood so it isn't usual for a husk to believe they are a vampire.

Husks aren't really talked about in public until the highschool years. Generally any teenager turned husk at that age doesn't really know what they're getting into and so they're seen as high chasers and addicts even more so than normal adult husks which somewhat serve a purpose.

Would imprisoned vampires get blood rations every couple of days or so? Just curious.
