So, Escapists, I just got myself a sexy new car! It's a grey Peugeot 206, 1.4L. My old car is a baby blue Fiat Seicento 1.1L. For two years my mates have relentlessly bullied me about the size, performance and colour of my shitty old car and now I finally have a really nice, reliable, semi-powerful car!

So, discussion, tell me your car experiences. What terrible cars have you had in the past? What's your ideal car (which you could realistically afford) and what's your dream car (lottery-winning car)?

Captcha: Holiable science (potential band/album/song name?)

Got a 1.4 seat ibiza, the 2010 model in the flagship 'citrus' colour...I know it doesn't sound like much but its a handsome boy. And my friends are jealous, thats the key part. And girls think I'm 'cool and unique'.

Dream car though is definitely an aston martin of some type. DBS, preferably. Or One-77, nice.

I have two cars at my disposal right now. One is actually mine, the other is technically my mothers but its in my possession. My car is a 95 Geo Metro and the one I'm using right now is a 2001 Buick Century.

I have no complaints about the vehicles. They work, they get me from point A to point B. My dream car would probably be a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback [http://ford-mustang.classicsportscars.eu/1966-Ford-Mustang-Fastback-fa-r-sy.jpg] but more realistically my next car[footnote]being the second car I've bought with my own money[footnote] would be another compact of some sort. Probably a civic.

I'm still technically on my first car. A cute little Barbie car also known as a Suzuki Vitara (er... I think it's called an Geo Tracker in the US).

I've beefed it up quite a bit, Nice tyres, suspension lift, snorkel, bull bar...

As for my dream car, I've got a few. In no particular order:

- Series I/II Landrover
- Mercedes-Benz Unimog (trucktrucktruck!)
- HSV Grange.

Yeah... I aim low. I suppose I'm more interested in a heavily modified 4WD than a factory-condition road car.

I had some money last year, so I decided I wanted to get a project car, so I bought a 4 door 72 chevelle. The engine blew as I was driving it home.

Now, I've almost got the loan paid off, and I'm shopping for the right engine. Looking at a 496 stroker, just a mild build of ~600hp, 600tq.

Ideally, I *could* be mostly done by next year, and just have interior and body work for next year.

The dream car for me, though, is a 1937 cord 812 supercharged convertible. Mmmmmmm so sexy.

Nice! I was taught to drive in an Ibiza.

I've got a 2002 325Ci, I've decided my next car is an M3, not sure about my dream car to be honest, something that looks super suave I guess :p

Really? A mog? God I hate those things. I think out of all the times I've felt miserabe in my life, the majority of those times have been in a mog.

Sadly I'm too young to afford any cars yet :( I'll probably end up getting a Toyota Camry or Honda Fit as my first car, I need good gas mileage if I want to afford anything again.

Realistically, I'd like to have a Mazda 6 in the future, and if I set my sights even higher, a nice new Chevy Corvette.

I'm guessing you're in some kind of military.

Right now I am driving a Mark V VW Golf 1.6L petrol. The last car I had was also a Golf, a canyon red Mark IV. You can't go far wrong with a German car!

The worst car was my dad's Chevrolet something-or-other, it got into such poor condition that when you were waiting at traffic lights you had to put it in Park and rev the engine so that it wouldn't stall.

Dream car would be a DB9.

Yes, well, all of MY experiences involve heavily modified camping trucks (and one fun afternoon in a paris-dakar chase vehicle replica)

*smirks* reliable, peugeot aren't always reliable, wish mine had been.

I've owned 2 106 MK2's, both were 1.1's the first was brilliant (being my first car this was shocking lol) but was written off by a nurse in her boyfriends brand new Audi =( (the Audi came off worse somehow lol), the 2nd one caused me so much stress and over £1k repair bills in the space of 13month...and no i'm not taking the piss out of your car, the 106's use the same engines as the 206's hope yours isn't as terrible as what my second one was.

As for my other experience i've driven an 01 focus estate, 97 Fiat Punto MK1, 2000 Fiat Punto MK2 (this thing went through 2 gearboxs and 2 clutches while my housemate had it, very unreliable, and she crashed it twice... it even caught fire when she sold it to our neighbour), another 01 Fiat Punto MK2 (my other housemate had this and the Engine Management light kept coming on even after several hundreds of pounds of new wires and sensors), and finally i currently share my housemates Renault Clio MK2 1.4 Sporting which rivals my 106's when it comes to being fun to drive. I have a fair bit of experience in different cars for a 20yr old whose only had his license 2 and half years, when i think about it.

Currently looking for a "new" car for driving to and from uni next year, i'm guessing it will probably be another 106 but the 1.6 16v GTi version *drools*.

Current car is a 96' Mazda Miata (Eunos Roadster to you island folk) with about 220bhp

Worst car I've personally owned was an 85' Toyota Corolla GT-S.
Terribly fun car to drive, and I beat the ever living piss out of it at drifting competitions. But it only had one seat, the interior was stripped down to the metal, it had cut springs, a welded differential, no radio, manual steering, and had a hole in the exhaust.

I have a real hankering for the new 5.0 Mustangs for my "realistic car". Also would love a 370z.

Dream car would have to be a 2011 Z06 Corvette or a Pagani Zonda Roadster. A vintage choice would be a Ferrari 250 GTO. Though truth be told if I won the lottery it would be hard to keep my car purchases under a dozen.

My current car is a 1974 Mini 1000 [http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n182/loc978/Photos/AMBA0017-blanked.jpg]... It's definitely a project, leaks (water into the driver's compartment) like a sieve, thanks to years of being driven on salted roads in the UK (salting roads is illegal in this state, we care more about our cars and groundwater than we do about our bad drivers here). Aside from that, usual project car stuff. Needed all new tires, headlights, a head gasket, valve springs and coolant hoses when I bought her... but now she runs like a dream.

The worst car I've ever owned was a 1986 Opel Kadett 1.6 [http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n182/loc978/Photos/MycarS.jpg]. Got her off the lemon lot for ?200 five days after being stationed in Germany (same day I got my German license). First thing to go was the starter, then the ignition coil, then the master brake cylinder, and finally the oil pan seal burst and turned her into a miniature Exxon Valdez. That was all in the course of six months. Thankfully I was only charged ?10 to get the poor old thing crushed. About the fondest memory I have of that car was joking that her real engine was the dead bird [http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n182/loc978/Photos/MyCarsREALengine.jpg] I found under the hood the day I bought her.

My dream car... well, this [http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-stuv/Shelby-Cobra-427-silver-black-fa-lr.jpg]... from a kit, with a stage 2 racing 427 small block (GM. 625hp, 600ft/lbs) and... okay, I have a detailed build in mind, and it's a little over $60,000 in parts. Suffice to say I'd have a hell of a time making it street legal and licensing it.

The ones you were in sound like they may have had a bit more money invested into them than my experiences, likely a better vehicle. I've seen them bogged numerous times, not much fun in the back of one when doing off-road and I've even seen one roll, hah.

My first car was my grandmother's '86 Dodge Aries K-Car, but that got smashed up in a drive by shooting when I parked it too close to the projects one day.

Then I had a shitty 1991 Mazda 626 which would lock up and not let me shift into gear randomly at stoplights. I think I pushed that car more than I drove it.

After that I drove a 1992 Mazda Protege, which was really shaky and slow to accelerate on the highway, back and forth 60 miles to college every day.

When the Protege transmission died, I got a 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante in late 2007 and I've been driving that ever since. It got from Pennsylvania to Texas, and it's been nothing but a wonderful car, fast and comfortable.

I've had one car. I never learned how to drive it because a friend died in a car crash and now nobody wants to teach me. My mum had to use it because she'd lent her car to the dude who owned the car my sister totalled.

About a month after I got it, the engine and breaks began to fuck themselves over. Fixed both, and the shocks went. Then I just sort of stopped paying attention and I guess it kept getting worse.
That's pretty much normal, though. Every car my family has ever purchased was used, cheap as fuck and required repairs like every other month. I get the feeling that happens to everyone.
