Something that dies to the abundance of Earthquake, Stone Edge, and bulky water types (or any for that matter). Rapidash has been my personal Worst Pokemon Ever. Sure, it's quick and even shiny (by the way, blue mane on Ponyta into silver mane on Rapidash...come on, really?), but it's really fragile and almost unusable in my small playgroup. Bounce helps, but only if it causes paralysis on the second turn, and it can learn SolarBeam, but doesn't work well with Rapidash's below average SpAtk stat.

Now if you're looking for an underdog, Farfetch'd is a boss.

Any bug type from the first two generations period, most of the Pokemon from the first two generations in light of power creep, half of Gen 5 on accounts of "looking retarded", and post-GBC Lugia. I swear, whoever was in charge of spriting the old Pokemon for the DS games had something against him; he looks like he's wearing lipstick, and aeroblast is a beam, not a slightly larger Gust!

But the true award has to go to:

It's just an incredibly rare Magicarp that can learn TMs/HMs, which it can't even use properly because it's stats suck so horribly. Add on an ass-backward evolution system that wasn't fixed until Gen 5, and well...

THERE IS NO MIDDLE FINGER BIG ENOUGH!

Making a team of awful pokemon on purpose while playing sapphire.

Planning on having:

Masquerain (I think this has the best stats, but its movepool is just dire)
Sableye
Spinda
Chimecho (haven't gotten yet)
Nosepass
Luvdisc (Haven't got yet)

I completely forgot about mawile, but Sableye is bad enough...

I did want to go for the more unusual pokemon, ones that nobody ever bothers with because they are hard to come by.

Surskit and nosepass especially was the ultimate pain in the ass to get.
Now only if there's an adult-style pokemon game in which the best Final Four or even your Rival actually went up top with the worst pokemon lineup in that certain game's generation and is actually hard to defeat.

Also I want to ask. What tiers are Ditto and Clefairy/Clefable. I just love copy-type pokemon.
Clefairy and clefable aren't known for transforming, the are known for Metronome. I don't even think they can learn Mirror move or Mimic.

Also, Ditto is awful for a strange reason. The only thing that can beat ditto is simple strategy: knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your pokemon. In-game, you can bring it in against the tougher pokemon and give an equal match as the AI in pokemon isn't very smart.

I have to mention this failure again. Just to reiterate his utter failings as a being.
All of its stats are balls, its movepool is terrible, can only fly 'a bit' due to his piddly-little wings and one of his abilities is to run away without fail. Utter rubbish.

If you want a Pokemon which is genuinely useless then it has to be Absol:

Such a wasted design right there
I loved my Absol back in Ruby... it has a pretty high Attack stat. Sure, you might need to boost its Speed a bit so that it actually gets the first hit since it can't take a hit to save it's life, and its move-pool leaves a bit to be desired, but it's not completely useless.

More OT:

The Weedle family. I would've said Caterpie as well, but a lot of people manage to get decent usage out of Butterfree, while I've never seen a half-good Beedrill.

Faretch'd. If he had better stats, maybe. But as it stands, there are so many alternatives that are so much better.

Lickitung. It's so ridiculous that even the way it evolves is insane.

Mr. Mime/Jynx. Terrible Psychic Pokemon.

The Ledyba family. Bugs as a whole are overwhelmingly useless in the first few Generations when compared to other Pokemon.

Togepi. Togetic isn't really powerful enough to justify leveling it, and while Togekiss is powerful enough, its design is also pretty ridiculous when compared to the previous two forms.

Hoppip/Sunkern/Yanma. The first two because they're pathetic as far as stats/moves go, Yanma because it just can't match up to better types and it didn't get an evolution that could until the fourth Gen.

Murkrow/Misdreavus. Both were offset by the introduction of their evolutions in the fourth Gen.

Unown. Just bait for the completionists.

Dunsparce. Its base stats/move-pool aren't exactly terrible, but it gets outclassed pretty quickly because of the low Speed and the lack of an evolution really brings down the fact that it looks like a larva.

Qwilfish. Aw yeah, a puffer-fish version of Tentacool.

Delibird. Pathetic stats, pathetic move-pool, neat gimmick though.

Zigzagoon/Wurmple. Pretty much just Rattata/Caterpie/Weedle all over again.

Lotad's family. Christ, there are no words.

Surskit. Another Bug Pokemon for the pile.

Shedinja. Cool gimmick, rendered useless by the fact that he's weak against Flying, Rock, Fire, Ghost, and Dark, and the chances of any given Pokemon not having one of those types of attacks is pretty slim. And aside from his Attack stat, he doesn't have high enough stats to off-set the 1 HP gimmick.

Plusle and Minun, just trying to cash in on the cute popularity of Pikachu.

Volbeat and Illumise. Look, even more bugs.

The Gulpin family. Fuck those Grimer wannabes, Grimer was already pretty pathetic back in the first Gen.

Torkoal. Only really good if you want a brick wall for your opponents to bash themselves against.

Spinda. The most 'normal' of all Normal-type Pokemon, with it's 60-base stat for every stat.

Chimecho. Doesn't have terrible base stats, but it has a pretty terrible move-set.

Luvdisc.

And the fucking Regis, which are the three most useless Legendary Pokemon I've ever seen, considering how hard they are to get in the first place.

Goddamn Bidoof. You look so stupid. And why is your evolution half-Water?

Kricketot and its evolution, more Bugs for the pile.

Burmy/Wormadam. More bugs, this time complete with terrible gimmicks.

Pachirisu. Again trying to cash in on the Pikachu-cute factor. Why are they always rodents and Electric?

Cherubi/Cherrim.

Shellos/Gastrodon.

Chatot. Farfetch'd with a note for a head instead of a leek for a sword.

Snover/Abomasnow.

Rotom: The Appliance Pokemon.

And I really haven't played enough of Gen 5 to judge it, but from what I have seen: Patrat and Lillipup and their evolutions really don't seem all that useful or aesthetically pleasing to me, and Woobat/Swoobat; Timburr and its evolutions; Tympole; Throh and Sawk; Vanillite; and Emolga (again with the cute Electric rodents) are all cringe-worthy to me.

o_O You're right. That surprised me, I was sure they could learn them. Apparently you can breed mimic onto one but nope, no learning them naturally.

So much hate. :(

Apart from the really shit ones like Luvdisk and ones like Shedinja who are plain unusable (although switching between one and Ninjask can work, it's a pain keeping them both levelled though) a lot of those are actually fun to play with now and then. I get what you mean about the Pikachu factor, Pachirisu and Emolga are both good in their own right though. Pachi has pretty good defence stats and can learn pickup, Emolga's a good special attacker with excellent typing. And this is matter of opinion but flying squirrels are awesome.

Well, I've always had this weird thing with the Pokemon games where I'll find roughly twelve-fifteen that I really like in a Generation, and then never use any other Pokemon ever. In Red/Blue, my team almost always ends up like this:
Pidgeot
Haunter/Kadabra
Gyarados
Dragonite
[Legendary]
[Starter]

In Gold/Silver, it's usually like so:
Pidgeot
Red Gyarados
Tyranitar
Scizor
[Legendary (Usually Lugia)]
[Starter]

Ruby/Sapphire:
Gardevoir/Metagross
Milotic
Absol
Aggron/Metagross
Flygon/Salamence
[Starter]

I'd say Gen 3 has the highest number of Pokemon I'd be willing to switch around, to be honest. Salamence, Metagross, Swellow, Latias/Latios, Armaldo, Altaria, Exploud, Slaking, Breloom.

Though I literally have no idea about the 'competitive' side of Pokemon, so that's why my teams usually are set so firmly in stone by about halfway through the game.

The entire 5th generation.
I kid, I haven't even played Black/White.

This is the definition of shit.
Oh woboffet is the definition of utterly broken design. It's banned in most competitive play just because of how broken it is.

Most people seem to critcize gen 5 for unoriginal pokemon(you know who you are), to this I say people who live in glass houses, gen 1 fanboys shouldn't criticize the other other gens on originality, lets take a look at some gen 1 pokemon to prove my point

Rant over, now my real choice, stunfisk

Seriously look at this thing it's has got the derpest face of any pokemon, it doesn't evolve, terrible attack moves and it's an electric/ground type, yes a unique typing, but it doesn't make any sense with the design, it's a fish and it only learns one water type move, not to mention if you read its description it only smiles when it shocks people, great not only does it have bad stats and moves, a derp face, a typing that doesn't make sense or matches the design, but it's also a sadistic asshole as well.
