Characters have motivations, some better than others, and give the story it's drive. A character with a good motivation can make you connect with the character. However when there is little to none or bad motivations you feel the need o create your own. As a naturally inquisitive person I want to know what your character motivations are, from movies, games, or books.
DAO: Dwarf Noble: My favorite, Strongly motivated to save his people doing whatever it takes to keep as many of their race alive as possible striving to take back his ancestral lad and save his people from themselves. After being exiled the DN is determined that if he is to die than he will kill as many darkspawn as possible, if you killed your brother than he can be depressed and decide to win back your honor by joining the GW.
Human Noble : Revenge is obvious however having been a child listening to his father's war stories he grew some hero worship of Teryn Loghain. Raised by his father he feels that a nobles responsibility is to do what is best for his vassals.
Lord of the Rings: Saruman: A good man doing what he believes will save the majority of life, no matter what he must do.
Skyrim: Ulfric: A good strong leader that can not be allowed to win because of who he leads, yes the nords are good people but there leaders are wither incompetant racist or stupid to believe, and sadly refuses to talk to imperial leaders for the future.
Morrowind: DAgoth Ur: a man betrayed by his brother and friends and seeks only to protect his people and follow his brother's orders.
Harry Potter: Dumbledore: He is incompetant and refuses to go against a prophcy, i mean good god man exactly how many things have harmed your students under your care? Book 1 A man possesed by your archenemy who never takes off his hat, Book 2 A giant goddamn snake attacking random students, an escaped convint successfully entered the school at whim and could have killed numerous students before you knew, Book 4 you let a young illegible boy join a death stakes tornament and than did not check the magical chalice if it had been tampered with( note this is a world wher anything can teleport you), you left a young boy your savior in a abusive home filled with relatives who hate him instead of putting him in a friendly wizading home( where he would not act look a totle fool) because of a spell which you were not there for and would not have worked anyway, and than evectavly commits suicide letting the death eaters enter the school wih children you are supposed to be PROTECTING. Letting Black go to azkaban without a trial based on hearssay from a muggle.
* cough* Sorry about the last one. I just really hate that charcter.
So fill us in with your own takes.
