this is going into the Off-Topic because i dont just mean depressing games or game moments, i mean games, movies, books, cd's or songs that you have or have read or seen or played or listened to that are depressing. and i mean the MOST depressing ones preferably.

mine would have to be..

Game: Gear of War 2...after everything that ensues in that game, the one part with Dom and Maria was just over the top. honestly, it made me cry.

Movie: What Dreams May Come or The Nines. ((it's kind of a tie)) both are really good, WDMC is with Robin Williams, and his kids die, then he dies, then his wife commits suicide, and he's in heaven and tries to get his wife back from hell. The Nines is with Ryan Reynolds, and he lives different lives..he's 3 different people at once, and he starts going insane..and it's a pretty good mindfuck

Book: Gears of War: Aspho Fields...it tells the past of Dom and Marcus and Dom's older brother..and it explains how Dom's older brother dies while they are trying to get the Hammer of Dawn tech. during the Pendulum Wars. it's really damn depressing, and again..it made me cry

Cd/Song: Into Eternity ~ The Incurable Tragedy...lead guitarist Tim Roth wrote the album about his 2 friends and his father, who all died of cancer within 2 months of each other...the very end of the album is an EKG Machine beeping...then faltlining...and that's the song about his father..it just hits really hard

What Dreams May Come was only depressing because it was the film that killed Robin Williams' career finally for good. Seeing an actor committ career suicide like that certainly was depressing.

Game: Lucidity.

Movie: Lilya 4 Ever - or Dancer In The Dark.

Can't think of any obvious book or music ones at the moment.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. If you've seen it, you know what I mean.
I see your Boy in the striped pyjamas and raise you The Pianist.

Although perhaps not as does have a laugh out moment at the end.
"No. Please. I'm Polish. I'm not a German,"
"Then why the fucking coat?"
...Pause...
"I'm cold,"

I had an interesting period where I loved the band Swallow the Sun. Especially the album Plague of butterflies, it is a really depressing, its about being lonely...very sad.
The song "You were but a ghost in my arms" by Agalloch, it is just a really depressing song about loss.

Also when reading Lovecraft I love to just think about it after reading one of the short stories and think about how hopeless we all are.

Thats just me though, these things arent too depressing as a whole, but to me they really get to me

Pretty much the entirety of The Walking Dead Series is depressing as hell. Robert Kirkman knows how to crush your soul a little bit at a time.

Well I don't have a game that I would call depressing. I can't really think of a movie that's depressing, I know a lot that are sad but none come to mind that I would call depressing.

Book: Looking for Alaska by John Green or 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Both books made me cry and just the way they are written is really powerful. Plus the characters are in my age group so it hits even closer to home.

CD/Song: Ludo~Broken Bride/Part IV: Morning In May. The CD is only 5 songs long, but tells the story of a man who lost his wife and is trying to go back in time and be with her. He ends up all through history, hiding from dinosaurs and fighting dragons before making it back to where he wants to go in the last song on the CD, which is the saddest one. The first time I heard it, I cried and every time after that I get teary-eyed. If you haven't heard the CD yet or you haven't listened the band, you really should.

Movies: Hard to say for sure, but Schindler's List is a tragic masterpiece. "I could have saved more..."

Books: Cujo. Seriously, that book is a big downer.

Song: Either John Cale's or Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah".

TV Show: Cold Case. I watch it, but it is more often than not leaving me in tears at the end.

I tend to stay away from things that depress me, call me crazy but I like to be happy.

the gears of war 2 moment was... awkward, I was quite disapointed with that little cutsceen, personally I think that Maria is still alive and that the women Dom and Marcus found was not her.

Metal Gear Solid 2 really depressed me; I absolutely loved it and even today I cite it as one of my greatest games of all time ever. But it depressed me. It made me question my existence. It made me question everything's existence. It made me question if life was even worth it when the line between reality and fiction was so blurred.

LOL. He cried playing Gears....j/k

The only real depressing thing I've got is listening to how amazing a lyricist Big Pun was and realizing that I'll never hear any of his greatness again.

EDIT: There's also Epiphany by Staind. Beautiful business.
