Speed is a good enough tie-breaker, I suppose.

Here's the stats on mine.

http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/resources/systems/pennpaper/dnd35/soveliorsage/monstersBtoC.html#bulette

Says they can move 40 ft per turn, 10 feet per turn underground.

A horse moves 50 ft in a turn, if that's any help. ^_^
Hmm, not really used to using "feet" since I live in Sweden and we use the metric system here. But three feet is roughly one metre if I remember things correctly, so I'll count it from there.

Unfortunately I don't have an online resource to back up the stats of my version of a landshark (since it's an old game in swedish from the early eighties, so to consider the source rather obscure would be fair). So I'll have to take it straight out of the rulebook, so there might be an issue over trust in that im not just making the numbers up (which I don't and I hope you trust me on that one).

Anyways, according to the stats of my version of a landshark, it moves twelve metres in one combat round. It dosen't specify if it's above or below ground, but since it's description states that the sharks main method of movement is burrowing/swim underground I assume it means that it moves at that speed underground.

So 12 metres per combat round would roughly be translated to 34 feet per combat round (correct me if you will on the exact method of converting metres to feet and vice versa, but 3 feet = roughly 1 metre is what I sort of recall on the top of my head).

So now the question naturally becomes, how much time does a combat round/turn constitute in each respective game?

It was a while ago since I played DnD (not to big fan of the game which might explain why I've forgotten). So im going to have to ask you to check that little detail for us.

If im not mistaken, one combat round in the game with "my" landshark usually consists of roughly 4-5 seconds. So it can travel 34 feet / 4-5 seconds.

SRS LAND SHARK DEBATE
Yeah, 3/1 is the basic transfer on feet to meters. As for how long a turn in D&D is, only a couple of seconds at most. Enough to drink a potion, swing a weapon, or shout an order. I'd know for sure if I had my books with me, but alas, I am at work. I'd be generous and say it's about 4-5 seconds as well.

So, underground, yours are faster. Above, the bulette rule.

Guess where most of the people eatin's gonna be done? ^_^

Yeah, but I honestly think I could get to a government that would revere me and care for me eventually.

Though, I'm not too keen on the whole clone idea. I'd wanna start up the race the old fashioned way. 6_-

(And yeah, I stumbled across it by accident on this site I go to. I dig quasi-apocalyptic stuff, so it was right up my alley. I'm reading The Walking Dead now, which pwns your face.^_^)

Well, if they're striking from underground, I don't see what relevance speed has, as stealth is gonna be the key attack component there, but I digress. Howabout we split the Earth 50/50? You want Northern or Southern hemisphere?

I'll take the northern one, since I can't be bothered to move. And I like a colder climate as well.

Hehe, I can't help but feel I made quite the deal here. Going from just settling with Canada to instead getting the entire northern hemisphere must mean im quite good att haggling. XD

I would make a serivice that many people like and rely on, like a searchengine. then I would slowly but surely "remove" my compeditors through ad campaigns, bribes and out right threats. I would develop my search engine with a map option, making you able to see all the maps in the world. I would slowly develop this technology, sending up satelites, making you able to search the entire planet. the I would make it possible to zoom, all the way down into peoples houses. then when people still rely on my company, I would create a Operating System with the same name as my search engine, but maybe call it "Steel" or something. You know, just slowly taking over most of the markets in global economy, until the entire world relies on your/my services. Then you have World Domination. (Wait... this sounds familiar...)

The landsharks are good bartering chips, yes.

Also, I figure I can't run everything excepting Canada, so I aimed for a league of evil shark masters approach. That way I can focus better on less.

Still, half a world is plenty.

Indeed it is. Muahahah!

/raises a similar shark-shaped ring, which I naturally wear on my pinky in a manner suspiciously similar to the scarred antagonist of all Austin Powers movies XD

It's the evilest finger. It's science.

So, what have we learned here? That's right. Landsharks equal world domination. Also, science.

with airborne aircraft carriers a bunch of mecha brigades and enough power armoured troops with high tech equipment to scare everyone into surrendering and with one world government there would be and end to wars and petty international rivalries and as a iron fisted dictator nothing would stand in my way of improving everyone's lot in life

Yes. I'll make sure my secretary write thorough notes of this for future reference.

Still... Perhaps we should consider equipping the landsharks with chainsaw wielding bears too. Just to make sure. Remember:

First, I would order a newly hired henchgoon to fetch me a bacon sandwich.

Then I would invest heavily and live a modest but comfortable life with me and my other half.

Then, I would set up a system which monitors my heart rate, and that or said other half, and about 10 minutes after we're both dead (natural causes, obviously), the orbital bombardment commenses.

I'd aim to glass most of the planet, seems like it'd be satisfying.
