Don't know if it would be a "dream game" per-se, but a friend and I had an idea for a game that I think would be pretty sweet.
A 4 player co-op multiplayer (this idea is older than L4D)
The 4 characters are all completely different, like one is a gun enthusiast, so he plays the game as a first person shooter, and can lay different traps (trip wires, hunting traps)
One is a doctor who can (you guessed it) heal and treat injuries, and do other stuff I can't remember.
One is a hacker who can pick locks and do computer related things, be it hacking or just finding info to share with the team, and has access to more puzzles that need to be solved.
I can't remember what the last was, but I'm thinking it was a 3rd person gameplay martial artist, who is more agile and can do some light assassins creed/prince of persia stuff, then help people up to different areas and such.

The whole game takes place in one small town. Each game you start up to play takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, so like sitting to watch a movie.

The twist is that built into the game in this one open world level would be various (slightly randomly generated) scenarios, such as a slasher film type stalker slowly killing everybody, zombies, alien invasion/abductions, an earthquake that opens a hole in the middle of town which creatures start coming out of, forest fires that spread into town, etc

We dreamed up like 30 different ideas for this town. Every time you play you never know what scenario you're going to get, and it only becomes obvious after a few minutes in once you have time to meet up with eachother, learn a bit from NPCs, and explore.

Once the shit hits the fan, you have to work as a group to either solve puzzles, escape the town, survive, whatever. Part of it would be discovering exactly what your objective is, and the whole town would be designed to take advantage of the different characters unique skills.

It's a pretty ambitious idea, but I think that it could be pretty cool.

A game with the first person viewpoint of Mirror's Edge, the map size a few times that of Fallout 3 (except with all of those damned Metro tunnels in the DC area) with you in the middle of a zombie apocalypse (hooray!) and you have to rally up survivors and escape the city. You have a reasonably large time limit and it supports 16-player co-op where everyone starts in faraway areas and can choose to split up and search for supplies to keep themselves alive or can group together, which can attract more attention.

You can find abandoned areas such as supermarkets and combine food items for temporary bonus effects (faster running speed, silent footsteps when walking etc). You can find various articles of clothing from stores such as jackets from common stores or chainmail from medieval stores to protect against bites.

There would be multiplayer modes that pit you against other people to survive for as long as possible and you have the option to contaminate food items for other survivors to eat and infect themselves with or take them for yourself. If you die as a result of an infection rather than bullets, you respawn as an Infected to ruin the Survivors chances of staying alive.

You can level up to 50 and pick various perks Fallout 3 style that passively affect your character or other things more directly such as damage intake and output, movement, time between infection and reanimation etc.

Basically, a stealth based first person RPG. *passes out*

Either Burn Notice: The Game (hah!) or Subversion by Introversion, which is coming out hopefully soon! For my unrealistic request, a VR sci-fi MMO.

Wait, I think I missed something. Stealth? Your idea seemed more like an intense zombie shooter RPG, not exactly a stealth game. Could you clarify?

Ah, my mistake. I had quite a few ideas running through my head when I typed that up.

The idea would be to hoard weapons, ammo and food while, ideally, avoiding detection so you can get through without attracting too many zombies. The option to go guns blazing would be there if you had enough ammo, but the gunfire and zombie moans would attract a lot of attention and wouldn't be ideal, especially if you were playing solo. You wouldn't want to dash through areas and end up having a whole horde after you because they'd follow you until you got very far away.

It wouldn't be something where you should team up with other people and run into an area with assault rifles blazing Left 4 Dead style. You'd sneak around and try and pick them off one by one if need be, clearing a path so you can get around a bit easier. It'd pretty much play as if you were in Fallout 3 and had the Chinese Stealth Armor with Silent Running, except guns blazing is a viable last resort option.

A real zombie game.

You're not rambo, you're just trying to survive, shooting draws attention and more zombies. You have to be quiet, and you have to feed your self and keep your self alive.

You'd probably use close range weapons, or long range weapons.

Maintaining the gun is very important, and so is scavenging ammo.

Just think about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but in a zombie apocalypse, with different settings such as having to get through a city, surburbs, rural e.t.c.

Stealth, and silent take downs are prime. But you should be able to do various things, such as make a choke point and mow down zombies. It'd be CO-OP with LAN, and have some basic RPG elements like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and perhaps a stat system. In fact just rip the RPG elements from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. it'd be near perfect.

I think I'd jizz rainbows for that.
