One day, walking down the street you turn into an alleyway, where a wizened old man (lets call him 'the Cryptozooligist') stops you and asks "If you could have any two pets, one real and one mythical, what would they be?"
He then leads you into a room containing the DNA of every creature to have ever existed, in the eyes or imagination of man. You walk past some vials labeled 'Cow', 'Snorlax' and 'Bigfoot.' He then turns to you and asks you to choose, saying he will give you all the provisions you would need to keep the pet alive and well.
Lets not get into a discussion about how he has come to own all this DNA, because I made up the story for an interest point!
I would choose Bubastis, from Watchmen, because it looks like a great friendly cat, who wouldn't want one of these roaming about the house.
I would also have a gorrilla, because I could dress it in people clothes and use it as a bodyguard.
And to all you novelists out there, feel free to carry on the tale of the Cryptozooligist!
