Australia has pretty much had one or two major earthquakes so I don't really think about it. But if I did have to worry I would run to the nearest open space.
Earthquake Plan A: Post on internet, get responses that 90% of forum don't have nor need an earthquake plan.
Earthquake Plan B: Don't live in a geologically active area. If already living in said area, leave now.

The west coast rocks with quakes year-round. Most are small and can barely be felt. We haven't had a serious one in several years. I heard that there's supposed to be an epic "BIG one" coming up soon. It's said that it would be able to sink nearly half of California...or it could just be the media pulling my leg again.
Whatever the case is, my earthquake plan is pretty much something I come up with as I go along. Sounds lame, I know. Other than that, I have a backpack full of emergency supplies that I can grab-and-go in the event of any disaster.

When I lived in California, I was in a couple earthquakes, and I can honestly tell you that when the big one hits, no amount of planning will help. Even a 5.0 gives you a decent shake, and that's enough to confuse the hell out of you. Other than that, I actually enjoy them to a certain extent.

My plan is solid and fool-proof. Hide in the basement of the tallest building. See, 'cause if I hide there, I bet the increased structural integrity would defend me... I'm helping SO hard right now.
given where i live, my earthquake plan is the same
as my general "holycrap" plan:
have a 20 day supply of food and water on hand.
hope that cache survives the emergency situation.
hang on for help, or start contingency planning.

Another benefit to living on the boring East Coast. I don't have to deal with these Earthquakes.Syndef said:

Actually remember East coast US/Mid West ( Mississippi river area) that there is one of the most devastating fault lines there that can put out a 10.0 and make the river completely alter course, it's not a super active fault but when it does go it goes big..and there is also a huge one in New York....though it's pretty quiet but can easily belch out a 8 at any time..
Where I live now in eastern Washington the quakes we would get would come from the cascades, or Yellowstone... to feel any of those would mean the volcano's are blowing...
so my plan for a " Rainer is erupting-Quake" is to stand my ground and wait for the surge of hippies from Seattle and Tacoma to infest my city....
if it's a Yellowstone quake from an eruption......well pretty much everyone in the world is screwed so not much TO do other than survive.
then again...there is the Juan De Fuca Plates, "aka Cascadian subduction zone" if that slips, and slips big it can wipe out places like Portland, Seattle, Vancouver with quake/tsunami.. and I'm sure would get some shaking off of it where I am.

We had a 4.9 here in Reno as part of a series of earthquakes in the winter of '08 and I found them to be a blast. My wife freaked out (she wanted us to spend a ton of money on a disaster kit, to which I said "we're on an upper floor. If the building collapses we're well fucked no matter what, and besides, looting would be fun!"), my pet rats turned into absolute basket cases, but I just laid back on my bed and thought back to precious memories of cheap motels and cheaper women where the shaky beds were because you put quarters into 'em.
