Ahoy Escapists,

So I'm listening to some music on Youtube between games of a Dota 2 tournament I'm watching, mostly cos I'm not a fan of the music that's playing on the stream. Techno/Dance music since you ask.

However, on the tube I find myself listening to some old Prodigy tracks and as someone who doesn't really like techno/dance/whatever I'm really enjoying it. I don't particularly like dubstep either, but I'm listening to "Make It Bun Dem" (the Skrillex/Jr.Gong from Farcry 3) and lovin' it.

So here's my question. We all have things we don't like or even hate, but then we generally have exceptions to the rule.

What are yours?

Feel free not to limit yourself to music.

Have a good one.

Well, I'll be honest. I'm not a big hip-hop fan; mostly hate songs that glorify getting drunk, doing drugs, excessive partying, misogyny, rocks and roll all night and party every day, and endless sex, sex, sex; find the whole "How dare you criticize us for offensively violent lyrics! I'm gonna cut you for that!" attitude to be hilariously hypocritical; think that a good chunk of the whole emo/scene kid thing to be hilariously dumb...

And yet I love the Hollywood Undead, even though they epitomize all of the above to the nth degree. Maybe it's because they take it to such a ridiculous level that it stops being offensive and becomes hilarious. Also, their beats are damned catchy. So, chalk them up as a guilty pleasure.

I despise rap, hip-hop, and any other form of that music you can think of. Yet I am a huge fan of T-Pain when he did the musical Freaknik for Adult Swim. I bought the soundtrack on iTunes and play it usually every other day. I'm also a big fan of Hollywood Undead (only their first album) and Deuce. Both are rap/rock bands and I just love them.

Techno is a biggie for me, but damn if Daft Punk hasn't made consistently catchy songs since the 90's.
