I've been a fan of the Splinter Cell games since the day the first one was released, and like most, I consider Chaos Theory to be the pinnacle of the series' quality.
I didn't actually mind Double Agent, but it was definitely a step down from the Chaos Theory, and Ubisoft Shanghai took some liberties with the universe that they shouldn't have, like killing off Lambert and Sarah.
The first looks at Splinter Cell: Conviction were rather frightning, as it looked more like a beat-em-up than anything else. Sam was running around in his hoodie flinging tables at cops. Thankfully, they apparently scrapped the game shortly after that, and not much has been said of it since. However, it has apparently been brought back to life and may be released this year or sometime next year.
So what do you want Conviction to be? Personally, I think that the Conviction subtitle should be dropped and the entire storyline started from scratch; the whole "Sam was so deep undercover that the government is after him" thing sounds really stupid and impractical to me. It is also my opinion that the game should be entirely stealth-focused, like Chaos Theory, and the whole brawler-gameplay should be thrown in the trash (if it hasn't been already).
That said, this game would be something of a reboot to the series, so it would be better not to be a Chaos Theory clone. Is there any way Ubi can breathe some more life into the SC stealth formula? What do you expect to come out of the gameplay, the plot, the singleplayer and the multiplayer? Better yet, what do you want to come out of it?
