Bad puppy. Go stand in a corner and think about what you said. Think bland empty horrible WoW style MMO that annihilates the Half-life property. You get a pet head-crab and can choose your crow bar colour. Oh I can't wait *sigh*.
Or think Diablo style dungeon crawling set in the Half Life universe from a first person POV. Blizzard do have more than one game you know ;)

I was going to suggest Blizzard-Valve too but reading these posts I think I'd have to second

Atlus and NIS. I want to see the whacky creations that would come out.

Valve/Oddworld.

Valve is hilarious, awesome, and downright brilliant, and I remember just loving Munches Odyssey.

Valve and Ubisoft -- I want the epic, subtly told story and gameplay of a valve game with the sheer size and substance (in comparison to its quality, which is still very high) of a game like Assassin's Creed.

Erm... I don't think you can be both dungeon crawling and sci-fi... You seem to be suggesting just an FPS with like... I dunno... non-fixed levels or something ? Tbh, I don't see how Blizzard is contributing anything.

Also, Diablo really isn't all that. Was great for its day and all, and its still fun of course, but its not like it was ever particularly innovative or interesting. Fun is a good quality for a game, but it was just hack and slash and not a lot else, and definitely nothing that you look back on and go 'Man that totally changed the face of gaming'.

Blizzard don't have any games that have done that quite frankly. Warcraft and Starcraft are both run of the mill RTSes, and although the latter is hugely popular, neither ever really innovated. If anything SC2 is years behind truely modern RTSes (compare it to the first Supreme Commander for example). Even the original Starcraft didn't have a whole lot to offer compared to Total Annihilation. It just had balanced multiplayer and had a cool universe. Nothing innovative here.

Diablo is a cool enough series, but again, nothing you can't see elsewhere.

That leaves WoW, which is the most generic and un-innovative MMO there is. Even when it launched it had nothing unique or interesting to add.

Blizzard has made some very popular, and yes, fairly fun games. But they are a terrible developer. God only knows that popular doesn't equal good (see Two and a half men). If Blizzard partnered with pretty much any other developer, they would make the game worse, and in essence just a carbon copy of something much better done by someone other than them.

In this partnership, Blizzard are dragging Valve down to their level.

Sony and Microsoft. If only because of the mass head exploding that would occur afterwards.

If not, then Microsoft and Squaresoft. Would you call the new company Microsoft or Squaresoft? Microsquare?

Hmmm... either:

Obsidian and CD Projekt RED for maximum RPGing awesomeness

or

Bohemia Interactive and GSC Gameworld to build a game that hates players so much it gains sentience out of pure spite.

ActivBlizz and EA so there can be a struggle for power until the whole thing implodes leaving all the IP's to find new non-dictatorship publishers.

Hmm I'm going to go straight up for action all the way with Team Ninja x Epic Games. I mean...it'd be pretty awesome. I don't know how/why.

Who would compliment Nintendo well? Something that can revamp their games to get a little more... spread. Something that's as family-playable as what they got, but not so... mascot-beating. Someone to add something fresh, and able to be more flexible than Nintendo's current regime.

Valve and S2. Just skip DOTA 2 and make HON have less server issues since the game is great.

Well Valve have made a good shooter but it hardly changed the face of gaming. If you're going on the impact each developer have had on the industry then Valve have a good puzzle game and a good FPS game, Blizzard dominate two genres and are the only Western commercial developer of Roguelikes I can think of. And there's a Roguelike of Doom, there can be one of Half Life very easily.

I agree that Blizzard RTSes have a minimalistic design but I think the philosophy behind that is don't fix what isn't broken and don't add gimmicky impossible to balance bullshit just for the sake of innovation. The fact that they have three completely different races and keeps them all nicely balanced shouldn't be ignored, very few RTS games I've played even have genuinely different races and the ones that have have always had imbalances.

I know Valve do good games but if you're talking about their effect on the industry they've done nothing next to Blizzard, the FPS giants are CoD and Halo, Half Life 2 is quite far down the list and hasn't really shaped the industry at all. WoW is the standard for comparing an MMO, Starcraft and SC2 are treated as the national sport of Korea, your argument there really doesn't hold up.

Blizzard makes roguelikes? Did I miss something?
