Don't know if its so unknown, but Wintersun's only album is fucking great.
there is also the album Ghost by Instanzia, Soulless child by Ancient Bards and Eternal Tears of Sorrow's Virgin and a Whore. All great metal albums that's fairly unknown

I like blues based rock, but the now defunct 22-20s only did this one album. while a single from this is pretty well known, afaik few know the album.

Not sure how knowledgeable some people here are on doom metal, but one of my favourite records of all time is 'Will of the Gods is Great Power' by Russian band Scald. Those epic valhallan-warrior vocals, the heavy-as-fuck guitar and those sweet melodic leads. Awesome, awesome stuff.

Yes, I do got to love it! Absolutely lvoe Caravan Palace.

My pick would be Hey Ocean, they aren't entirely unknown (one member voices in MLP:FiM so they've gotten a lot of brony fans lately) but they're not that well known either. Unfortuntely since so many of their new fans are bronies the majority of their videos are flooded with pony spam, and even I as a brony find it annoying as fuck. Their music is amazing, I don't give a damn if she's in a TV show.
The album is called IS by the way.

I'll have to go with 'The Sound' by 'Mar' though it's pretty close between that one and the band's other album 'The Silence'.

Take The Kids Off Broadway by Foxygen.

Click the pictures to listen to the whole albums.

Timelord by Momus.

Niether of these albums has a song I don't like.

One is crazy fun psychadelic rock while the other is ponderous, melancholy early 90's electronica.

While Momus has carved a strange little niche for himself, Foxygen are still criminally underrated. Listen to Foxygen! Now!

If people have heard of He Is Legend they only ever seem to know I Am Hollywood, but I actually think It Hates You is better (except on I Am Hollywood there's the lyric 'I've got to find my princess, she's in another castle'). It's not a metalcore album like all their other ones, but it's even weirder. It's sort of a strange psychedelic rock/metal mix, I don't really know anything quite like it.

I did actually scour through all the posts here to see if I recognised anything, and I hardly ever do that with music posting threads.

Blackbird and AB III by Alter Bridge would be my two favorite albums.
Whoa, dude, Where are you living that Alter Bridge aren't well known (in rock and metal circles at least)? I mean, Myles Kennedy is singing with Slash these days, AB III sold a buggerload and Wolfgang Van Halen is playing bass for Mark Tremonti's side project right now.

Easy.

Brad - Shame.
Founded in late Grunge times in Seattle, shares the guitarist with Pearl Jam, and sounds nothing like Grunge.

"Rocket Ride" by Edguy.

One of the most upbeat, cheerful albums I've ever come across, whilst at the same time managing some pretty poignant songs that have a lot of relevance if played as entrance music when I enter certain rooms...

Inparticular "Return to the Tribe" is a favourite when I come home having been away a while, whilst "Save Me" is the best, if one of the most inappropriate songs I've ever heard played as the first song at a wedding.

I'm rather fond of the Scottish band Jack Butler. No one whom I've ever spoken to has heard of them. Most of their songs aren't even on YouTube or anywhere else, which doesn't help either. It's a shame, because their one album, "Fit the Paradigm" is actually quite good...

Yes yes!! My sister introduced me to them a few months ago, very eclectic and no-one else I know has heard of them.

Hmmm... I'll be gobsmacked if anyone's heard Ilaria Graziano & Francesco Forno's From Bedlam to Lenane (s'OK, but completely unknown...)

I'm not going to say that nobody's heard of it, but none of my friends or anyone I know has...

It's probably Stoneage Romeos by the Hoodoo Gurus

Maybe the odd australian will have, but almost literally no one knows them

Maybe not completely unheard of. But I'm sure most people would not have heard of Aggalloch. And of their albums my favorite would be...

Great album.

Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element.

I believe it is quite an unknown band. Same goes for the album, but it is one of the finest pieces of progrock/progmetal I've ever heard.

You should all just buy it, listen to it and worship it like it deserves.
