I guess it's 1984. I haven't read any new books, but I read that one for the first time this year. It was mighty epic.

My favorite book that I read this year was probably Judas Unchained by Peter F Hamilton

My favorite book would be the Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin

Released this year? That would be "The Gathering Storm" by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, the twelfth book in the "Wheel of Time" series.

I haven't read any that were released this year, but of the books I've read it would be a toss up between:

Dune - Frank Herbert
A Storm of Swords - George R.R Martin

Both were intense, though I think Dune just wins out for me.

Wow that is a tough question, seeing as this was the year i actually read a shitload. I would say basically any classic I read: Fahrenheit 451, All Quiet on the Western Front, 1984, Catch-22, The Great Gatsby.
Also a book called "The Long Ships," It was an amazing story and i would recommend it to anybody

Not new by any means, but I just finished re-reading Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs. [small]a low culture manifesto[/small]

The best book that I read this year would definately have to be "A Clockwork Orange". I finished it in 2 days, I just couldn't bring myself to put it down and that rarely happens with me and books.

Under the Dome, by Stephen King.

Great book, but the ending leaves much to be desired.
best line: 'I want to die and come back as a leotard'

OT: Best books i read this year??
1) A clockwork Orange
2) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
3) Fahrenheit 451
4) The H2G2 trilogy of five (for the 8th time)
5) It's beginning to look a lot like zombies

Ranger's Apprentice: Halt's Peril

Fantastic and emotional book if you've read the series from the begining.

Either World War Z or Jasper Jones. Both of them I've really only started but they both seem great and I can't wait to keep reading.

Nice to see the people here have such good taste in books. I didn't read it this year, but I usually do. And Zaksav91? To me, it was the other way around, a single page left me so full of reading satisfaction that I needed more than a month to finish it.

I've been watching the series from the start, but I didn't read the Dexter books until this year, and they rule. Especially Dearly Devoted Dexter.

Of the books that I've read, I'll have to go with Under the Dome by Stephen King. I don't care what the literary snobs say, it was a great read.
