The decorations are out, the shops are filling thier windows with fake snow, people are bitching that it's come too early again, the snow is conspicuously absent and people are starting to freak out about not having enough money to buy pressies...

What is your favorite memory of late December?

My own is quite humble; laying out all the annuals we had gotten with my old man on Christmas Eve, and feeling the excitement of having lots of new Transformers and G.I. Joe stories to read in the morning.

The year my parents bought me a K'nex set and my Dad and I spent two hours scratching our heads before breaking out the instructions and seeing the proper way to build the rubber band powered Ferris Wheel.

That and the time our oven malfunctioned, resulting in the best twelve course meal ever.

When I got my Spiderman car.

It was so awesome. It could shoot web and had a huge grappling-hook in the front.

I loved it.

When I was about 5 or 6, my entire family was at my grandparent's house on Christmas Eve night. It was close to midnight, and my dad told me that he wanted to take me and go driving around to look for Santa. I agreed, and he drove me around town for a good half-hour, as I scanned into the night sky, looking for Rudolph's signature red glow. When we couldn't find anything, Dad drove me home, when to my surprise, all the presents were already under the tree! Santa must have visited while we were gone! What a coincidence! Then, without any suspicion at all, I happily tore into my presents.

A ridiculously Disney-esque memory..

We found a small, dehydrated, half-dead black kitten years ago. It had been left outside, in the rain, and a neighbour had brought it over for us to take care of (he didn't know what to do).

So, we fed it, cleaned it, and it lived through the night.

The best part was she was full of energy the next morning, and shredded wrapping paper with us, hiding in the Christmas tree and knocking the decorations off.
Zelda is still with us, and still very silly.
