When asked why people craved horror movies Stephen King responded by saying that he believed we are all mentally ill in some form.
A while back I unknowingly stumbled upon my first taste of Creepypasta when I watched the Marble Hornets series on Youtube. I won't deny, at first it creeped me the hell out. I mean, why wouldn't it? It starred a creature with the ability to appear anywhere and everywhere. A creature that you can't fight, nor can you run or hide from. Since then, every so often, I'll glance off my side or take a quick glance behind me when it's dark or I'm alone just to see if Slenderman is there watching me.
Eventually, I overcame that anxiety and went on to watch Tribetwelve and EverymanHYBRID which I found to be very enjoyable but not as frightening. Why? The more I thought about it the less fear the Slenderman began to inspire. From there I found my way to Creepypasta and ever since I've had a few questions on my mind I wanted to ask my fellow fans of the macbre.
1. What is your favorite Creepypasta creation, being, entity, or what have you and why?
2. Have you had any experiences like mine where your favorite entity was so on your mind you swear you saw it in real life it you had a dream about it?
3. Hypothetically, if your favorite Creepypasta was real: a. How would you realistically react to it and b. What do you believe the ideal way to deal with it would be?
Since I've already answered 1 & 2 I'll skip right to 3.
If the Slenderman came for me in real life I'd probably feel pure, raw, unadulterated terror and try to run away as fast as I could even though I know it wouldn't do any good. Ideally, I believe the best way to get rid of the Slenderman would be to find some way to ignore it completely. It stands to reason that it gets most of it's power over a person by inducing fear-based reactions so showing it no fear would probably be the best bet. Thoughts?
