My favourite game is Final Fantasy 6. Whenever I say I'm a fan of Final Fantasy, people always mention the games 11 and up and parade around about how lousy the series is. When I mention the games 9 and prior, they look at me with the stupidest expression. I hate the newer Final Fantasies. -.-

Every CoD after 4. Seriously, it went from pretty realistic shooter to over-the-top arcade nonsense. I wasted $120 on MW2 and BO but not again, MW3 will not get my money. Hello BF3

I agree with C&C and I guess maybe No More Heroes sort of count (I still like it but it wasn't as great as the first one due to the wrong changes).

Bioshock. Seriously, after the abomination that was Bioshock 2, i can't even look at the first one without sighing.

God of War.... you know it's true
Deus Ex... Invisible War was just meh (human revolution made up for it though)
Bioshock... I didn't even like the first one as much as everyone else apparently did but the second was just, awful

This happened to way to any JRPG series. Especially on the Sega side, such as Shining Force or the 'Shining' series in general, Phantasy Star, the guys that made Lunar & Grandia. Basically all just disappeared or changed the direction of the game to the point that no one really cares anymore. For example Phantasy Star from a classic JRPG style to a MMO hybrid? Shining Force from a class turn base strategy to a... I think the last one was an action RPG? I can never understand why these games didn't just stick to their roots like Dragon Quest and Fire Emblem, two similar titles respectively that are still around doing just that.

Empire Earth was completely ruined and died after they released that god awful Empire Earth 3. I mean seriously they took a great strategy game, that most critics had nothing truly bad to say about, and turned it into a complete joke. It really is no wonder that the series died with that release I mean it was universally panned as one of the worst games every created. Any who the other two games for me that have just been ruined would have to be Bioshock, for obvious reasons, and the C&C series.

I would list Deus Ex as well; yet after playing Human Revolution I can firmly say the series is back with new life and a truly worthy sequel/prequel to one of the greatest games ever.

Fable, the first was really fun, the second was pretty good with some nifty changes. The third one blows.

Also I will second Crash Bandicoot, having played through and beaten Crash Warped then playing Wrath of Cortex, which was okay but definitely lost it's luster and Crash Nitro Cart felt like they weren't even trying anymore while CTR was a great game.

Crash Bandicoot series after Naughty Dog's last game, Crash Team Racing. Crash 1 was difficult, but it was their first Crash Bandicoot game and they improved in the sequels.

Tony Hawk games afer American Wasteland. To me, the last game I really likede was Underground 1. Underground 2 was more like Jackass with skateboarding and American Wasteland was okay, but not as fun as Underground. Never played Project 8 and Proving Ground was shit.

Crash Bandicoot. Hands down. The 1st one was the first game I owned, the second improved, and the third was a classic. Then Sony kicked out Naughty Dog and it all went to hell.

The first game sucked, though, but nostalgia.
Agreed man agreed I can still put in one of the ps1 games and have a lot of fun with it now the games are abominations to those great games
I know, they even fucked up his character design now. What the hell is he? A monster-bandicoot hybrid? Really. The first thing they should do is bring back his original character design and then make it a platformer. Stop with all this extra shit. Get back to the basics.

Oh wow, where do I start?

Spyro the Dragon, first off. There was the original three. Then it became a franchise zombie for about 5 years. Then it was picked up again and given a reboot that was okay - considering the quality of previous games. But then said reboot got a really bad when Dawn of the Dragon came out... Now it's getting another reboot which looks even worse.

Poor Spyro. He's been to hell and back.

FEAR 1 was amazing, FEAR 2 was generic crap. I've yet to play 3, but I've heard it's somewhat better.
No, it really isn't. Gameplay-wise it's okay, but it doesn't even feel like the same series anymore.

i have two, call of duty modern warfare was brilliant and the rest after that it just got repetitive and awful (sorry for those who enjoy the franchise)
and also gears of war, i loved the first one but the one after was just boring (again sorry to those who enjoy the franchise and also sorry to anyone who has mentioned these before me

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. The next gen console sequels literally killed the franchise.

R.I.P. good friend.

Now ummm...I think for my entry, I'll use Oddworld. Everybody remember Oddworld, featuring our heroic slave-Muddokin, Abe? Those first two games were great fun, and there was promise of a quintology like...years ago. Then...whoops! They dropped the ball and signed up exclusively for Microsoft and released a lukewarm game and a not-really-liked game. Years later, they say "Oh, we're getting back in the game!" and...whoops again! Still on Microsoft and not multi-system like they should. Haven't heard anything since that report, so I guess they're dead again.
They aren't dead, there site is back up and running again and they are planning some HD remakes including Abe's Odyssey HD. They are also apparently making a PC oddworld strategy game.

Strangers Wrath was pretty good by the way and has come out on PC and will soon be on PS3 in HD. As far as I know, they aren't dead and MS exclusive.

Anyway OT:

Rayman (Although origins may be good)
Spyro (Just look at him now)
Final Fantasy (Really didn't like 13 and from what I have read 14 is terrible)

I loved Red Faction 1, never played a Red Faction game after 2. the 2nd game destroyed the franchise that completely for me
