We've all done it at one point. We were bored somewhere and we started tapping on a table or something like that, then, we started to get more ambitious until we are playing a full-blown song on a random object.

So my question is this escapist, What is your favorite improvised instrument.

Taut rubber band as a string instrument. place it around your thumb and index finger, doubled or tripled over so that you have to put pressure on it to extend them away from each other. Pluck it with your other hand, open your fingers wider to get a higher pitch, let it slack for lower.

"holographic" notebook covers to make those record scratch sounds. Combined with beatbox, it's pretty cool.

Well, I'm fascinated by, and want to learn to play, the drums. So I sometimes end up making cool beats just by tapping desks and stuff to a rhythm, tapping soft or hard depending on how the beat goes in my head. I also did something like that at my city's museum on a set of African drums, but that's a proper instrument so it doesn't really count...
