World War Z by Max Brooks
It by Stephen King
The Last Continent by Terry Pratchett
Small Gods by Terry Pratchett
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

I'm currently reading:
The Shining by Stephen King
Death Note: Another Note by someone I can't be bothered to check.
and I plan to read American Gods by Neil Gaimen soon.

That a good start?
American Gods is my favourite novel of all time.

1984 is great, but can I recommend "The Forever War" by Joe Haldemann?
Welcome to the escapist. and 'The Forever War' is quite good. I bought the 'Peace and War', which is the 3 books together. Forever War, Forever Peace, and Forever Free.

Well, one of my favourite books (actually 3-in-1) is 'A Nomad Of The Time Streams' by Michael Moorcock. I highly recommend it.

Can't believe no-one has mentioned it yet but The Stand by Stephen King, that horror-writing raggamuffin, is quite high in my estimations. With it's over-arcing storyline dynamic and general post-apocalyptic feel, it is rather good.

But then, all post-apocalyptic fiction is rather good in my eyes, as Cell was quite dandy too.

Favorite Novel?. Man that's a hard choice..so many to choose from!

It's a toss up between Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
or The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch, which I am still reading.

"Endless Night" by Richard Laymon. Despite it being the most perverse book i've ever read it also has the best story and character relations i've read.

Terry Pratchett has alot of good ones, The Discworld series being my favourite.

The Wheel of Time is also an amazing series.

All Terry Pratchett's, Douglas Adams, and George Orwell's, down and out in paris and london is very good by him.

Part from that The Kite Runner, and his other book, the name of which I can't quite remember at the moment, and the Ragged Trousered Philanthropist :)

Anyone know if The city of bones trilogy is anygood?
I was going to choose the eragon books untill I saw your choice. That is the best choice.
The city of bones trilogy is ok. It isnt as awsome as his dark materials trilogy or the eragon trilogy, but its not bad. Well maybe it is. Its one of the few series I didnt finish. Try it anyway.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is a great read, if you're up for it.

Edit: Oh and so are books by Phillip Pullman and Terry Pratchett.

The Amulet of Samarkand. It's funny AND well-written.

Well, it's either that one, or The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

The Book Thief - Markus Zusak. Beautifully written piece of fiction. It's narrated by Death, how much better could it get?
