Some series simply are better than everything else in their medium. This thread is dedicated to those series.
It could be a book, movie, tv, or video game series.

The rules:
1. In order to qualify as a series it must have at least 2 installments.
2. For TV shows seasons count as an installment.

That said lets get postin', gimme' your two cents!

For series that need to die http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.76506

I am filled with a sense of impending doom.

With that, I leave my two cents, consisting of the US version of The Office, and proceed to get the heck out of dodge before the flames start flying. Ta.

Why? What makes a drawn out overstaying-its-welcome show somehow more valid to your thread than a show which stops at a reasonable and altogether "right" time rather than dragging a second series through the mud that was its fans expectations?

Didd'nt Nilcypher say just earlier today that he's not fond of threads with "Best" in the title?

Just something to think about

Both the Dark Tower series and the Otherland series are very good.

Onimusha. Even the fighting game wasn't all that bad. Most consistently good game series to my mind.

One of the mods. You do know what the mods are right?
I treat mods like a vengeful but lazy god. If you don't actively tick em off ya' won't get smote.

As for the thing with best evers, I always thought that the "In your opinion" aspect was kinda' assumed.

For my T.V. series:
Monty Python's Flying Circus, MST3K, Ghost Hunters, Myth Busters, and more that I can't think of at the moment.

Debbie Does series

Am I allowed to say that?
Yes. You can even swear on the internet. Your mum probably won't see it.

My vote to the classic Thomas Covenant novel series by Steven Donaldson. Geeky I know but still epic and a great read

The Simpsons. Honestly, can't believe nobody's mentioned it yet, and if someone says it whilst I'm writing this I swear I will open up a new account on a friend's computer and RICKROLL the shit out of all of you. I know that it's gone downhill. But still. To be that consistently good for that length of time, right when I was growing up. Well. That is just swell.

Although it's never made me cry. Futurama has. And got me misty on another occasion.

Pure comedy? Arrested Development.

Game series? Max Payne.

Books? Philip Marlowe series.

Film series? Ack, I've got an essay to do. Just not Harry Potter.
