Roger Waters for his unique voice on 'The Wall.' Seriously, his dicator voice is freaking kickass.
Bridget Fogle for her work with Luca Turilli. Goddamn does she have a beautiful voice and it really excels in metal.
Olaf Hayer for his work with Luca Turilli. He can sing with emotion and intensity, on all ranges.
Fabio Lione for being the lead singer of Rhapsody of Fire. Same reasons for Olaf.
Damon Albarn for his ability to sing in a range of styles.
Dave Mustain for his gravelly, quote 'Viking' voice on Megadeth.

Howard Jones (formerly) of Killswitch Engage.

The man has a voice like lasagna. Meaty and rich.

Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) I remember hearing that when he was auditioning for Linkin Park, others at the audition just left when they heard him as they didn't think they had a chance. I understand why.

Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters)
Lemmy (Motorhead)
Chris Cornell (Soundgarden/Audioslave)
Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails)
Hayley Williams (Paramore)
Rivers Cuomo (Weezer)
Brent Smith (Shinedown)

Obviously, my vote goes out to the holy trinity of 80's metal vocalists: Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, and Geoff Tate. Not even Dio himself could beat them when it comes to sheer vocal range.
Dickinson:
Halford:
Tate:

Depends what mood I'm in.

Country - Elvis Presely
Modern Metal - Howard Jones
Old Metal - Bruce Dickinson
Glam Rock - Freddie Mercury
Rock - Dave Grohl/Anthony Kiedis
RnB - Stevie Wonder

In their respected styles of music, they are all absolutely brilliant to me.

Hammill has an amazing range, and makes spectacular use of dynamics. He sings more often than not in his native accent, which makes his singing all the more unique. A true original, his skills as an instrumentalist and composer are also top notch. No, I will not be quiet about Van Der Graaf Generator.

Erickson sings with balls. Big, crazy ones. They got gruff and hairy later on.

THE ACE OF SPADES!
THE ACE OF SPADES!

Deep and gruff, every nice. His growls are very pleasing, too.

I'll second Geddy Lee, Halford, Mike Scalzi, Devin Townsend, Freddie, Mike Patton, Peter Gabriel, Runhild Gammelsæter, and Lord Worm. They've all been mentioned, right?

1) Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam.

Whenever I picture a vocalist singing his heart out, I instantly think of Eddie Vedder, because that's what he does.

<youtube=AFVlJAi3Cso>

2) Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The same description I gave for Eddie Vedder goes for Anthony Kiedis as well.

3) Thom Yorke of Radiohead.

Just... listen.

4) Michael Stipe of R.E.M.

For shame at the lack of mention for Chris Cornell, Eddie Veder and Steven Tyler... Some of the greatest American Rock vocalists of all time.

I'd mention Robert Plant in the same sentence to but he's English obviously.

Took the words right out of my keyboard

Hey guys all great choices so far you have really made this hard for me but I found one.
His name is Kyo and he is the lead singer of a Japanese Metal band called Dir En Grey (one of my favorite bands) I would strongly suggest giving them a go, even if you don't like scream-o metal, look up "dir en grey lotus" on youtube WARNING: They like to use some disturbing imagery and lyrics (in japanese) so i would'nt suggest looking them up at school or work!
Have Fun!
