The sound I drift off to the most is the sound of my Boyfriend playing TF2 late at night. Very soothing at times... :3 I know I'm an odd bird.

Hmm. Rain is pretty nice. I think it depends what the rain is hitting though. The sound of the impact is key to the whole experience for me. :D

I also like hearing how different fans sound. Whenever I'm at a friends or someone elses house, I ask to turn their fan on if they have one. :)

Same for me :)

That's pretty cool. ^_^

For me, Rain and Thunder is definitely high on the list. Just the generic sound of nature is pretty awesome too, though (as in, when I was in South Africa for vacation, we went to the 2 main Parks there, Kruger and Hluhluwe. The animals were amazing, but thinking back, the sound of the animals on the plains, the birds etc., made a great ambient sound ^_^ ).

Out of those 2, I'm not sure. However, I'll usually just say "Rain and Thunder" if I'm asked, since it's very unlikely I can hear the South African plains from anywhere here in Australia. :p

Who here has heard the sound of an idling pipe organ?
It sounds like a really, really deep soft rumbling. Overpressure in the windboxes slowly letting air out gently vibrates the pipes- not enough to make a sound when playing, but grand enough to certainly shout volumes of the ambiance.

So I was thinking with school and everything my most ambient noise is computer fans.
However it's not my favorite.

Mine would have to be any kind of rain.

The name says it all, what's your favorite ambient sound?
(No particular criteria, it could be music, sounds, noises, anything)

If I'm feeling down, I'll agree with rain.

However, when I'm happier I have no idea. I don't think I have one.

Rain, hands down. Not the sound of it tapping on the roof, but that calming tune of rain falling in a forest. It's just the most relaxing thing.

rain seems to be the go-to answer. But my top rated one is either my girlfriend's sleeping (Actually struggle to sleep without it, and struggle to stay awake with it) or the sounds of my computer.

Though i do have to admit the sound of heavy rain on either windows or a car/caravan/tin roof are truly amazing :D

For me, it's a snowy day. Everything is so still and quiet, then every so often the plows come thru and shake everything up for a moment, then it's back to quiet.

I'm also fond of running water. Not from a spigot, but a brook or river, even ocean waves at night.

Favorite: Most definitely wind. Oh how I love wind and all its beauty. But also rustling leaves, rain, and the sounds of animals.

Least favorite: The repetitive sound of bass from someone playing music loudly, as for example a party hosted by a neighbor. It has caused me to want to do harm to someone in the past. It is just so throughly unpleasant and intrusive.
