So people of the escapist, in the world of putting paint to canvas or simply claiming a rock is a wonderful representation of the human condition who takes your preference?

I'm partial to either Shrigley or Giger for their damn right strangeness

Giger. Hes the only one I'm into. Plus you dont feel guilty to getting off on some of his more hardcore stuff.

Recently I've really taken to Escher, Picasso and Dalí. Escher for briefly tricking you into thinking that impossible shapes and perspectives are possible. Picasso for the sheer intensity of his images. Dalí because the guy was just hilariously mad and it shows in his work.

I'm enamored with the work of Jenny Saville. People would probably recognise her work on the cover of the Manic Street Preachers album Journal for Plague Lovers.

Andy Warhol is probably my favourite artist, not in terms of technical competence but in terms of artistic vision - especially in his film. He was ahead of his time with regard to his perspective on consumerism and arguably is a pioneer of modern celebrity culture. His superstars were the Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohans of the mid sixties.

Dalí have a long lasting fondness of mine. I like many surrealists, like Margritte and Freddie, but none of them have the vividness of Dalí, I think. Also, his paranoic critical method, as seen in "Narcissos' Metamorphosis" or "Mountain Lake" is a really interesting way of taking on a subject.

Also I have taken Miro to my liking recently. His way of painting is extremely ruthless, as all the layers of the process is clearly visible, and the order of which each layer of paint is applied becomes of great importance. As an aspiring painter myself, I have the same fascination with his paintings as a musician would have with an extremely technically diffuclt piece of music.

Speaking of more recent artists, my countryman Allan Otte is a contemporary realist whose works I greatly enjoy. His paintings lie on the border of painting and digital art and though they're realist they are very interesting. Christian Lette is another contemporary Dane whose works I like, though they're far from realistic, being DMT-fueled, dreamy, large-scale drawings, much of which lie in the borderland between illustration and abstract art.

Also I like the works of Nicholas Roerich, though I haven't gotten around to check him out properly.

Can't pick my one favorite artist, though

I've always liked Salvador Dali, and recently I've begun having an appreciation of Antony Gormley's work.

Although he's still not forgiven for the Angel of the North.

Wow, Jenny Saville bieng mentioned here. She's rather obscure, gaining in popularity quickly though. I love her paintings of obese women.

I'm a big Rothko fan, there are tons of other artists I like aswell.

H.R Giger, Hayo Myazaki and Andy Warhole.

These are the best ones I can remember right now anyway.

I'm an old fan of Picasso. Something about his works stir real emotions in me. Guernica is a masterpiece I look forward to seeing in real life one day.

There are a lot of paintings and artists I like, but cannot name.
