I think Dark Souls is rather relaxing. The nice, slow music, and the huge skyboxes, the atmosphere, the general realness of the world...

...The gorgeous art style...

It's rather odd that so many people find CoC relaxing. I mean, so much rape...

Also, A Dark Room [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/ADarkRoom], which is very relaxing, and very simple. No overdramatic combat sequences that require a lot of button mashing, no real conflict, not many tense running away sequences from big monsters who want to eat you... which applies to both Corruption of Champions and Dark Souls. In a broad sense. Ew.

I still play Diablo 3 a lot to unwind. Nothing calms me quite like punching a monster and watching it's skeleton fly out of its body.

I'm surprise Element41 or Thomas was alone haven't been brought up, but this disjustice will be fixed no

Element41 is a platformer that no matter how many times I mess up or the game has a poor checkpoint the happy element style and peaceful music keep me calm.

Thomas was alone is pure charm for me and its soundtrack keeps me smiling.

I supposethe last time I was chilled out was probably the Wii game Little King Story. The gameplay was simple and the soundtrack was quite soouthing (remixed of classicial music).

Most games I buy actually.
I buy games not usually for challenge but to mostly relax.
A lot of easy platforms do this for me.

It really depends on how I feel. Sometimes I just sit down and play some Minecraft. I don't even have to move to my desk; on peaceful mode, I can just use my laptop's crappy touch pad. Under any other circumstances, though, I can't use the touch pad because I can't move my camera and player at the same time; my computer is programmed to stop the touch pad when there is a key being held down.

I find the methodical fights of Monster Hunter just as relaxing as they are exciting. It's engaging, and if you know what you're doing it gets relatively easy. Monster Hunter is at its most difficult when you're fighting a new monster for the first time, with newly-obsolete equipment, but once you've fought a monster a few times and your equipment's up to par, fighting it becomes a science. I find methodical and systematic work engaging and relaxing at the same time.

Visual novel-style games in general are relaxing, too. There's no pressure on me as a player, and I can just sit back and enjoy a story. There's little-to-no chance of losing most of the time, so I don't have to worry about that. I like it better than reading a book, too; call me unrefined, but I like the pictures and sound more than having a black-and-white page with just words on it.

Postal 2

Whenever I have a particually bad day, I always load up Postal 2 and just go to town with murder.
Easily the most relaxing and psychopathic game in existence.

Besides that, uhh...
Rollercoaster Tycoon is pretty chill, especially since I have number 2 with every map from the first unlocked. No need to stress about meeting goals, just chillin' making a park.

Tomodachi life, for me. Like a fish bowl, or sumfin. Sims 3 pets. Pokemon trozei some. Style savvy Trend Setters. Some Brain Age.
Not sure what else, really. I hate having pressure to do stuff in a chill game.

I chill out faffing about without much care. Rune factory 4's cute, and all, but I gotta grind to advance coz an NPC I like is in a bad way.

Really gotta get a harvest moon.

GTA Online, and Saints Row series are good, though I hate having little to do post story in most open world games, and being broke coz I hate pvp in GTAO. Driving is nice, though.

I used to hunt fiends in fallout New Vegas. Not sure why I stopped.

I kinda am hoping Last Light can fill a niche. Looking for a game with freedom of movement, and stuff. Kinda just flying around and enjoying it for the sake of it. Nothing pressing you to do stuff.

Fantasy Life might fill a niche whenever it comes out.

Every so often, I feel I need to chill out, to relax. To this end, every so often I put in something gory. Sometimes it's Mortal Kombat, other times, it's God of War.

If my computer wasn't fucked right now, playing Audiosurf.

Also I'm kinda surprised that people on the Escapist have played CoC. Then again the internet is for porn...

To chill out? Anything not multiplayer.

Ok, bad joke aside, I like replaying Portal 2 because of the dialog. The music is engaging and the humor puts me in the right mood.

Captcha PS: barking mad. How could I resist to make a multiplayer bad joke with that captcha?

That's a title I never thought I would see in the Escapist. I wonder what would happen if someone tried to publish it on Steam.

Gathering (especially botany) in Final Fantasy XIV is very relaxing. I'll usually do that when I'm bored and don't want feel like playing something too engaged.

And when I feel like punching kittens, I play mindless button mashers like Dynasty Warriors 8 to relieve the tension.

I am unfamiliar with gaming to calm down/relax. For me gaming is always intense and exciting. I tend to only play games with epic stories or competitive elements (such as fighters) so as such I more often than not will grab some coffee before I play rather than stay in a drowsy state and kinda mess around. I feel that if I'm not super aware of what's going on I'm not getting the most out of the experience. When I wanna relax I'll just watch videos online or listen to music or something, gaming for me is a very passionate activity which gives me adrenaline boosts and makes me laugh and exclaim loudly if not feel major feels.

Team Fortress 2. I just go spy and observe the enemy team. I don't do anything, I just watch, and see how close I can get to them without being detected. Like a stealth game where all the guards are other players.
