Come on people, let's hear doublespeak in action. What expression have you heard people use to save themselves from embarassment and found that you just love the expression they used because of its unusual structure or it sounds funny?

My personal favourite at the minute would be one I've already used tonight, describing the gentlemanly act of being orally pleasing to either a man or a woman:

"Going at it like a dog eating hot chips"

My psychiatrist keeps going on about "problems" in conversation when he is refering to those things on paper as official disorders. Not a favourite, but the only one I can think of.

Is that really a euphemism?

I think its a simile.

Euphemisms would be like calling "executions" "capital punishment" or calling midgits "vertically challenged"

Given the nature of the act it's hiding, it's both.

None.
I hate them all.
Especially when I catch myself using them.
It makes me feel dirty.
I've always felt people need to say what they mean, and hiding behind language irritates me to no end.

colloquialisms and euphemisms are foolish

Also abbreviations and hyphens and puncuation
