[The White Hunter]

Final Fantasy IX, it was the first Final Fantasy I beat all by myself (when we were younger, me and my sister would play them together) and it was the one that easily grabbed me the most, to me, it does almost everything perfectly, the story, characters and world are just fantastic. In way of flaws, it only has minor ones such as the story putting focus on some characters at the expense of others, but other than that, its just a fantastic game that I don't see being topped any time son in my eyes.

Foolish cat, XII is infinitely better.

OT: Sonic 3 & Knuckles is probably my favourite game still, just loved it as a kid and enjoy it thoroughly to this day, play through it at least once a year it seems. Other candidates are Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry 3 SE, Final Fantasy XII, Killzone 2 and Halo 3.

Special mentions go to FFXIV for utterly devouring my time, like a ravenous triple cunted hooker on crack.

I still say Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.

The music in that game? Freaking Hollywood movie blockbuster levels.
The gameplay may not be the most advanced, but it's immensely satisfying to blow off the gushing, gory limbs off of a hybrid dinosaur creature. And the boss battles were pretty intense.
Plus, it continued the legacy of multiple great weapons to use from the first game and (most) games after it.

Still looks pretty good in my opinion today. Maybe not the most complicated environments, but certainly open and explorable.

I'm a bit upset that I can't get the PC version working on any system after 2004 though. The music just doesn't play without console commands, and even then it's FAR too loud with no way to adjust it that I know of. (And the N64 version had rather bad framerates)

I had to pick just one specifically, then my choice would be Kingdom Hearts II. It's not perfect, I'll admit - after all, its story is a bit poorly handled and it takes every opportunity to hammer you with the anvil of the power of friendship, its combat is simple and its not the toughest game in the world - but I love it all the same and I'll happily replay that any day.

I guess my honourable mentions would go to either Pokemon Red/Blue and Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver which are games I can also happily replay at any point and love to bits.

My favorite game is Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie together as a collective, as I refuse to choose one without the other. Every facet of those two games are flawless in my personal opinion, and they will for certain never make games like that ever again. Part of me is saddened that 3D platformers (sometimes dubbed "collectathons") have gone the way of the dinosaur in recent times, but then again I don't see their return as anything like they once were.

There's a reason that Nintendo-era Rareware games are regarded with such praise the way that they are, and both of the original Banjo games stand tall as testaments to that reputation. I am very grateful that they are available for download on the XBLA.

I used to say you weren't a true gamer if you had a favorite game, because how can you compare the best games of each genre to each other? Then I played Morrowind.

The only game that has come close to being as enjoyable as Morrowind for me was Okami. Both allow exploration of a beautiful and fantastical world, but Morrowind allowed something close to living in that world.
