So I just came from my first driving lesson, and I must say that it was quite nice. The teacher is really nice. The roads were mostly empty,so I din't have to worry too much about other cars. And It was just a really calming for some reason.

Now to put at least a little discussion here.I ask you escapists, what was your first time driving a car like?

I suspect that my father was only pretending that he let me steer the wheel.

Damn him! How can he not trust his own 7-year old son?

Well, the whole time I was going 70 mph on an express way with my mom yelling at me when to merge and why I'm going to kill myself in a horrible car crash.
Other than that, it was pretty cool.

Tractors don't count.Since driving them is entirely different to driving cars.

I went to this centre where they allow you to try out driving when you are not quite old enough for lessons on the road (17 to drive, 16 for these "taster" lessons in the UK), I went along this "road" for a while and got the hang of the basics, it was all relaxed and pleasant, nothing beyond 30mph.

I then had driving lessons for a while before stopping. Picked it up again a few years later and now drive on a daily basis. Yay.

Likewise, I also first drove on a tractor, I was about 12. Private land, before anyone says anything.
First driving lesson, meh, it was alright. I was still used to the tractor, though- gear changes quite forceful, steering with one hand and the other on the gear lever. Instructor didn't like that last habit :p

Can't remember my first lesson... but my 3rd included a guy on a quadbike with no helmet or registration plate racing past way over the speedlimit. Then 3 police cars chasing it with lights and sirens going...

Instructor got me to pull over, fast, and we sat for 5 minutes waiting for the roundbaout traffic to chill out. Then see the quadbike fly out of a nearby alley, straight over the road and down another pedestrian alley oposite... few minutes later spot a police chopper flying about pretty low!

I was in a library parking lot, about ready to pee myself because I was so terrified I'd mess up.
Yeah. >.>
Parked cars used to scare the crud out of me...

Exciting. Well what else. We live in a not so populated country and middle of nowhere in that country. So actually getting my license defined freedom. I could go where ever I wanted and didn't need to cling to my parents car. Or to my parents. Time of my life.

Now driving a car is still nice but I am waiting someone to invent the teleporter ;)

Its so freakin fun i had the same problem changing from some of the tractors to the forlift cause of the weird layout and how the clutch was a button.

I got to drive on an airfield that used to be owned by the family I was with, so that was enormous fun.

I'm eligible to take lessons now, but I'd rather focus on exams first.

16? Really? I was under the impression it was 17.

17 to pass and have lessons on the road. At 16 you can drive at these centres as a kind of "taster" lessons. I see why you got mixed up, poor wording on my part. I shall fix that.

The closest I got to driving was learning how to start a car. Other than that, I haven't really driven yet. :p

Even though I'm gonna learn in the summer, I'm actually pretty terrified of driving. Most people who I'm in the car with get pretty violent when they drive and I'm in the passenger seat, hanging on to dear life. That may be because it's in LA but still!

It seems as if you live in a nice place.Where do you live exactly? Because I want to go there.

On a cold windy Yorkshire camping ground with absolutely no other campers, besides me and my family. Good thing too, I couldn't drive for shit.

I'm currently too young, and I look forward to the day I can leave whenever I want.

However, I suspect I'd never go anywhere anyway.
