what was your first thoughts when seeing and playing the magical world of warcraft?

also how much wow has changed since then

go into any amount of detail like installing the game or picking your class and what you taught of WOW before you entered then game

when i first started playing it was when BC was just released.
i had a alot of problem installing the game from the disc not working to the installer shuting down

when i finally installed the game and downloaded the patches i decided to be a mage but my friend was alliance so i had to pick from them but only two classes could be mages at the time Human and Gnomes..i did't want to be a humen as i taught they where boring and gnomes seemed to small but where my only option so i became a gnome mage.

i got in and i didt have a clue what was going on. so i went and skilled a trog and ended up in a duel which i lost as i had one spell. so i headed off down the road towards ironforge but i did't know that at the time what i also did't know was that the brewfest festival was on at this time so there was magical rams everywhere so naturally i was confused so instead of trying to understand it i just went with it like most of the things

i eventually landed at the brewfest festival and a raid had just begun so i felt i could help and decided to fire my amazing fireball skills and it said absorbed and got zapped by a much more powerful mage

nowadays its way easyier to level and funner might i say (with the new quests and all)

i did a quick search and did't find any other topic like this sorry if there is.

Got a free trial, played as a Night Elf Rogue, got bored after a while and stopped playing.

Started playing in my first year of Uni as all my new friends played it, took me about a day to download everything (I started playing BC) on my slightly rubbish laptop.
Rolled a Night-elf Hunter as one friend played Alliance, Quested for a little bit, fell of the Night-elf starting island and died in a way that was impossible for me to get back to my body, stop playing as I didn't know you could rez at the Spirit thingy.

Left it for a while I started again with the new friends, rolled a Undead Mage which I leveled to about 40 odd before getting a new game and forgetting about WoW. Spent the next few years buying a few monthes every half a year or so but never got the Mage all the way to the cap. Stopped playing completely when Lich King came out (Didn't even buy it).

I loved it. I started back in vanilla. It took a few minutes (since I didn't have anyone to teach me) to get the hang of it, but WoW was fairly easy to learn compared to most MMOs of that time. Everything was a challange back then. Even the entry-level raids were fun and even somewhat hard. I quit in WotLK though, when the endgame raid was as hard as the starting raid was back in vanilla, so it just didn't feel worth it anymore.

WoW appealed to my slightly-addictive personality.

I ran around and improved every number I could. For like 2 years, with raid epics.

Then i realized I was a raid healer, and gamequit.

I got a trial account and creatively rolled a human warrior, Which I have actually gotten to the current cap. I thought it was pretty cool running around kicking ass up close and personal. I surprisingly got into a group, before the LFG was added, and ran through Deadmines feeling like a high roller when I walked out with 50 silver and a couple of greens.

I played private servers way back when, and was level 36 in legit WoW when the first expansion came out.

Private servers were usually just excuses for people to make crazy items and mess people up with them, but the rare one that was trying to be like the legit game made me like the game enough to actually buy it and subscribe a huge portion of my life away.

As for first experience playing legit wow... I made a night elf hunter on a friends account and got to level 10 while he helped with a druid. When I got my account, I made my own druid cause he was a god damn tiger that was sneaking around shredding things to pieces.

This was the first incarnation of Vidi Kitty, I played that character almost exclusively for years, and the name will stick with me forever.

And I'm gonna say it. I miss night elf land. I miss the dark canopy above, the pale colors, the crazy wildlife, and the distinct lack of any players there but myself.

When i was on my own "wwwhhhhaaaaaaaahhhhhhh This is so boring"

When i did things with Friends "Ok this is pretty good"

However i stopped after a while since i didn't have the dedication and often got bored fast.

Installed, started up, made a char. Got one of the first quests *Go collect (random number of a certain item)*. Hit options, exited the game, uninstalled it.

Played it a couple of times, friends pestered me to play, rolled various characters, maxed the trial a few times, still consider it very boring.

Gave up completely at this stage.

Played it ignoring the fact that you know you gotta kill a few monsters to level and then got to level cap and raided then quit.

Also, laughing at the people who think WoW has tedious quests, HAH!

Downloaded the free trial. Immediately loved it. Played for 2 years. Quit shortly after the Ulduar patch. My guild... they kicked me out of their best 10-man team... So I left. I miss the good old days.

Got the trial, create a Tauren Shamen because I wanted to be a range class and also I fucking love Taurens since Warcraft 3, then I did about ten of the starter quests and felt totally worthless in the world and it dawned on me that thousands of people have already done these quests and me doing then has no effect on the world at all, I then logged off and havn't touched it since. I guess MMOs are not my sort of game :/

First experience was during a 14 day free trial last year. Undead Warrior was my first pick and I'm still playing WoW now... though now my fondness for Blood Elves has made it hard for me to diversify my character roster!

Ex GF played the beta, harped and harped at me to start playing when it came out, I did after I had built a new comp, a couple of months after release. I rolled Horde despite her playing Alliance then rolled Alliance (to appease her) and hated it. I didn't have any fun playing, so I stopped playing for a couple of months and went backto playing City of Heroes. I started my WoW account back up when we were on the outs, but I split my time between Horde and Alliance (when we both were playing).

When we broke up, I kept playing Horde, tho I occasionally had a little fun playing Allies on a different (pvp) server.

Bought it half way through BC's run after my friend told me to buy it. Started playing a Blood Elf Paladin, and got proper addicted e.g. getting up at 6am and playing till 1pm non stop. Realised I had to quit after breaking my computer trying to download some add-ons.
