About a week or two ago i went to go see Green Day at madison square garden. It was my first concert and it was awesome. what was your first or favorite concert?
My first concert was seeing Darwin's Waiting Room (and 3rd Strike) at a Machinehead show. I don't really have a favorite show, but I've seen Sinch, Mushroomhead, and Mindless Self Indulgence several times and their shows are always good. One of the better shows band line ups I've seen was Project 86, Pulse Ultra, and Taproot.
Hey, same here, Rasmus was my first gig. Not bad, but not the best either.
Best one would have to be Take That. And before anyone laughs, try this one on, they played their own instruments, in the past have covered Nirvana live, had a giant mechanical elephant and they rode unicycles. Now that's entertainment!
Green Day at Milton Keynes Bowl would be a very close second though. Damn that gig was good.
For my 10th birthday my mom gave me the choice of seeing The New Kids On The Block (shudder) OR David Bowie Sound And Vision Tour. I asked her if she was nuts and why the hell would I want to see New Kids on the Block? So we went to see Bowie and I knew every word to every song that was played by heart.
That was the first concert I ever went to with my mom.
The first concert I went to with my dad was to see YES, and we ran into my uncle there. That was another great concert.
First: Rise Against in Dublin!
Favorite: it's a tie between the Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold concert I saw at Marlay Park on Saturday and Rise Against!
Enter Shikari. They were playing at King Tuts in glasgow. Tickets were 4 pounds, and the 100 capacity venue was only half full. It was an amazing gig, and will go down as one of the high points in my life. Enter Shikari are still awesome live, and I've seen them 7 times since, but it's just not the same. I mean, in king tuts, you can touch the band if you're in the front row.
As for my first gig, see my answer to the thread on that subject two days ago [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.128668.2768080].
My favourite... that'd either have to be The Pixies at V2004 and Reading 2005, or Radiohead at V2006.
Or... possibly the first time I saw my favourite band (who nobody will know or care about so I won't bother linking), at the Barfly in Camden, a tiny venue where I had my legs pinned against the edge of the stage by the crowd and had to keep dodging whenever the guitarist got a bit too enthusiastic with a solo and waved his guitar around. And the singer decided to play a solo with his guitar an inch from my face.
I saw Kaizers Orchestra last friday at "Storås Festivalen". It was extremely cool. I loved the theme they have going during their live performances. Old lamps on stage, oil-barrels scattered around to hit and the organist wearing a gasmask.
I saw Machine Head the previous day, which was pretty damn good too.
