We're all gamers here. We're also geeks, and there's nothing gamers and/or geeks love more than gadgets, which begs a question: Do you remember your first "gadget"?
For me, it was a tape recorder when I was about 11, one of those little micro-cassette dictaphones (an RCA if memory serves). I really don't remember why, but when I saw that thing behind the photo/electronics counter at a local grocery store, I thought it would be the coolest thing in the world to have. I did all the silly little things people with tape recorders do: impressions, silly radio shows, mock interviews, and more than one recording began with the words "Captain's log, stardate...". I had that thing for 7 years before giving it to my parents for a little legal battle they had with a contractor a few years ago.
I still carry this love today, and I've got about five little digital voice recorders all strewn about the house, in various jacket pockets, and even in my car. I think they're just cool.
So, what was your first gadget?
