I got Bulbasaur from old Prof. Oak, and my first capture was male Nidoran in Blue. I never saw another after him.

Bulbasaur, because, because I knew the first 4 gym's Bulbasaur would be awesome. Rock, Water, Electric then Grass? Even after that I had to go through psychic and earth. the only problem Bulbasaur would have had been Fire gym.

Ahem, By the time you get to the psychic gym your bulbasaur has evoled and thus
poison would be weak to psychic.

mine was bulbasaur from pokemon blue. being ironicly number 1.(which i didn't know at the time)

It's not that ironic, statistically, 33% of people playing got the number one pokemon first.

I got Charmander I think. First pokemon I ever caught was presumably a pidgey or some other shit one.

Sure, why not. Bulbasaur was the best one to pick anyway, considering the first 2 gyms are rock and water.

But it was hard to train for them since most of the battles you encountered were grass type so you either has no advantage or a disadvantage while training for the gyms.

On topic: I picked charmander then on the second play through it was squirtle.

I had red version first, I picked Bulbasaur and went through the whole game but restarted as Squirtle.

Oak gave me a Charmander! I trained the shit out of that thing and didn't catch a single pokemon until I got to Celadon. Then I caught a Growlithe.

Me, I chose Charmander, when I got my ass handed to me by Brock, I still kept my little fire lizard. I enjoy a challenge.

Pikachu, yellow. Caught a caterpie to take on Brock and get through Mt Moon; after that, I put that pikachu straight in the box. Utterly useless. Though I do have a level 100 butterfree, which is rarely a point of pride.

Charmader, Blue. I swear to god, Brock was the sole reason that my Charmander was power leveled to 26(and became charmillion) before the second gym. In which I used Pikachu anyway. After that, ever gym was Charmillion/Charizard domain.

First pokemon I ever caught was a Caterpie named Slinky who as a Butterfree I am still quite fond of.
