"Adventure" text game. On an Apple ][. In 1977.

Still has one of my all time favorite bits...

Player: "KILL DRAGON"

Computer: (giving you that typical snarky text adventure response) "With what, your bare hands?"

Player: (after much frustration trying to come up with a different idea) "YES"

Computer: "Congratulations, you have just vanquished a dragon with your bare hands!"

Player: *headdesk*

I feel proud to say my first game was the ever classic Super Mario Brothers (1) on the NES.

I think it was some PC game where you fought a bunch of monsters in one room, got killed, fallen through darkness, then there was a fairy godmother, a demon and something. The wall outlines were yellow, there was a top down perspective, the demons were yellow. And that's about all I can remember.

The first REAL game I played I think is Claw. Captain Nathaniel J. Claw.

I think My first game was Super Metroid for the Snes, but I could be wrong as my elder brothers who are roughly five and six years my peer got me to play games since before I could form any coherent thought.

One of two games come to mind:

1) Exterminator [http://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=http://www.lemon64.com/reviews/view.php%3Fid%3D788] for the Commodore 64

2) This I'm not too sure on, but from memory, it had you play as a pirate looking for treasure in a randomly generated maze. It had a top down view, the maze was kinda set in a jungle or something, and was on the Commodore 64.

Heresy! We must all bow down to the cuteness that is Charmander.
Squirrels>Lizards>Weird leafy things
Nooooooo, you have to choose charmander as he evolves into a badass dragon eventually. You simply use a Butterfree or Mankey to take down Brock.

Also, Pickachu > Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur... =P

and on topic, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was my first game as far as I can remember.

No no no, you choose Squirtle or Bulbasaur first, because then you can easily beat Brock.
