Right now I'm actually working on a couple of different projects which I hope to be able to put into action soon. It's an open-world rpg style but that's all I will divulge at this moment.

And I do have some of the means to get started on the game already. I go to ITT and so have access to plenty of design software, where I could actually model out the world, characters, weapons, vehicles, etc, but by myself it would be near impossible without taking up every second of my free time. So I gotta wait until I graduate first.

Thread's so good it gets better every time someone posts it. Snark aside, I've got a few ideas, but they always seem to come back to the long-forgotten genre of the trade sim and its cousin the city-builder.

Anyway, here's the concept: Anno series meets Port Royale meets Colonization. The year: 1587. The place: Roanoke Island. You are a settler in Walter Raleigh's ill-fated Lost Colony, come from England to make your name in the New World. It is here that the tutorial takes place, as you're taught how to build farms to feed your population, fortifications to keep the Natives at bay, and industries to grow cash crops for export back to Europe. All simple, straightforward stuff, but after the tutorial a cutscene explains how history diverted.

Seems that when the Lost Colony ran out of supplies, a mutiny split the colony in two. Fierce fighting led to the death of most of the men, and when the dust settled you and your loyalists built a boat and set sail southward, finally setting up a freebooter/pirate settlement near what is today Savannah, Georgia. Knowing that if your English heritage were discovered by the Spanish colonists in St. Augustine you'd be slaughtered, you decide to build up a settlement and get a ship to sail around the Caribbean, recruiting (sometimes at swordpoint a la Tropico 2) a multinational band of outlaws and castoffs from towns, villages, and pirate coves. Friendly settlers in Dutch and French towns will provide trading partners as long as you don't try to raid their villages.

Meanwhile, the Spanish Armada sinks on schedule in 1588, giving you a chance to begin terrorizing the Spanish Main...or a visit to the viceroy can get you peace at the expense of earning the wrath of Queen Elizabeth. Win a few battles against the Spaniards, however, and Jolly Olde England will send you regular shipments of indentured servants and petty criminals in exchange for your fealty, and having an export market in Europe for colonial goods can make you plenty of money if you don't mind having minimal naval support and having to constantly worry about the Spanish threat.

Lost Colony (working title) would bring together all the best elements of city-building, trading, and naval combat (using Empire: Total War's naval combat graphics engine with a little more realism and better AI.)

I've had one or two ideas.

The first is a game where the graphics slowly improve as you progress - eg, you start in the 8 bit era and progress for some kind of effect. It'd be awesome, trust me.

The second is an FPS where there is an active realism slider, where totally unrealistic is floating weapons, huge amounts of ridiculous enemies, and over the top weapons, and realistic is more aligned to the gunplay in a tactical shooter, where little damage is needed to induce death, and there are less opponents. All in the same maps. Replayability supreme, pretty much.

Both probably wouldn't work. But I stay hopeful.

My only Idea is a lampoon on old school turn based games like final fantasy where a pimp, a hooker, a corrupt cop, and a hobo go on a adventure to reinstate pluto's planet status. It has some room for some werid things such as drugs for healing items and some parody of cliiches and othe RPG conventions. I think it would be fun.

I seem to remember doing this before (does a quick search), ah, there it is.

So because I'm lazy here's a repost:

I would make a cross between an adventure game [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Longest_Journey] and an RPG [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elder_Scrolls] with a murder mystery [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_fiction] plot that takes place on a Stanford Torus [http://www.nss.org/settlement/space/graphics/toruscutaway-800.jpg] style space colony.

It'll have a detailed physics engine [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Havok_(software)] not as a gimmick, but so that movement in a rotating environment [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrifugal_force_(rotating_reference_frame)] and zero gravity [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microgravity] will be accurately portrayed and lead to interesting puzzles, fights, and the like.

There will be oodles of varied characters with special care given to making sure they all have unique and interesting personalities, plus lots of voice actors so that we don't find Joe talking to Joe about how much he enjoys buying bread from Joe down the street like we had in Oblivion.

Choices in the game will actually matter, unlike some games [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioshock], and will lead to extremely different outcomes with there being at least 20 different endings, many of them morally ambiguous at best.

um, probably a third-person cover orientated shooter, but with the cover system of games like Army of Two where you crouch and the move near cover, kinda like how you would in real life with the tactics moves of GOW (ie the swat door to door move)

but i would like some strategy so be leader of squad, but have more un-related to story line NPCs to help out, just to give it the effect thats its actually a war, not three super tank ninjas with chainsaw shotgun things kicking ass, which is fun but annoying. also the ability to control our squad, with specialist units (if you remember way back to Star Wars: Republic Commando, you could set up snipers and get your units to carry out mabouvers).

high level of customization is always a plus, just gives you something to work for because collectibles are annoying


any game that can pack all that has my stamp of approval

After seeing the original Doom I came up with the idea of (what would later become known as) the Thief games. I had it all laid out in my head and I explained to my friends (several of whom agreed it was a good idea). Some years later the Thief game was released and it seemed like my prayers might have been answered. Unfortunately the game didn't come close to what I think it could have been, nor did any of it's sequels, and every other game that has attempted to incorporate stealth elements has done an even worse job than the Thief games did. So I'm still waiting for someone to make the sneak-em-up of my dreams. I know its possible. 16 years and counting.

A game that doesn't ship broken, it promises to do what it says on the box and have awesome matchmaking system aswell as competitive online play.

An FPS by RTS Hybrid: You are in a control room that consists of a large holographic (3d) display. You use first person to observe the 3d map and give orders to units by running around inside the display and touching areas.

...it could work.

I would definatly use an idea i had heard from a blogger on youtube known as sxephil. i would use the fallout landscape, add cooler snipers and only enemies will be "robot zombie nazis"

I love sxephil! I would fund that idea!

....though you could probably fund it yourself, rich son of a -

I would probably do that also, but add more weapons....and god mode!!

cryengin 3 graphics but with sotc's style (on a console)
( every thing needs two people

-a mix of ico and prince persia platforming

-lots of puzzles

-an intresting open world with lots of ruins and every kind of scerneary that their is but no people

-a parter controloed by player 2 (they can do every thing the player can do)

-Sotc's stlye bosses but slightly more puzzel-ish

-and a conbin nation of oblivions and eternial darknesses' magic system

-a compleet weather system which includes seasons full day and night cycles

-an in game ecosystem

-the only goal is to explor and fill out your map but defeating bosses will unlock new paths and new peices of map.

Resident Evil 3 meets sandbox. A completely open world where EVERY PART IS GOING AT ONCE. None of this loading a point when you get close enough to it, everything is maintained and active at the same time. You play a low-level employee of a company who saw something they shouldn't have. Set in the facility-city of the huge corporation you work for, people all around you doing their jobs, you're trying to get out, the corporation gets wind of you knowing what they don't want you to know, and send their super-soldier after you. Here's the kicker, remember me saying everything's on the go at once? The super soldier is constantly moving as you are, he can show up ANYWHERE, not just at certain points like Nemesis, everything is real-time too, going through a door doesn't load up the next area, so you can go through a door with the thing right behind you and it'll just smash right through it. To make it fair the super-soldier won't always be able to zero-in on where you are, it'll have to use things like the monitor rooms to spot you on the security cameras etc, though there'll be the possibility that it can put a tracker on you and vice-versa but there will also be ways to send it going in the wrong direction. The game would tell you NOTHING about how to get out of the facility-city or how to kill it (permanently at least, you could knock it down a few times like Nemesis to get away again, you'd only be able to permanently kill it after doing a certain percentage of the game thereby learning the secrets of how to kill it). Also the pseudo-Nemesis can, like the real one, turn people into monsters who can then turn others, so you'd have to balance just trying to get yourself out with saving as many people as you can, some of which you could recruit as NPC squad members to help you out, though there's no reviving/curing the disease, once they're dead/bitten, they're dead/turned.
