Sorry Bastion I really tried. I love the setting and story, but the gameplay is just - well a little boring.

I'm just too timid to play Amnesia. It's not much fun trying to play a game with my eyes closed. A shame because I did enjoy it when I wasn't busy having a heart attack.

Me? Nothing. Im completely up to date.

Main reason is that i finished high-school a few months back and now have tonnes of free time.

The games im playing now are just Mass Effect 2 (In preparation for 3) And Dwarf Fortress (which was updates last month).

I mean, i literally have nothing to play. I look at me Steam games list or the front store page and think. "Done that, Done that, Done that, Don't want that, Done that, Thats not out until next month" And so on.

I have just started Tafe though, so i should start having work to do, and i hope this will give me a backlog.

(I belive that "Tafe" is just the Australian Equivalent of the American Community College or something)

As for my timesinks... Dwarf Fortress. Endless !!FUN!!

A few months of unemployment really helped me get my backlog manageable. I finish what I start, so all of these are games I want to start and finish. (There are also a dozen or so games I really want to fit in time to play again sometime soon.)

1. Total War: Shogun 2 - Rise of the Samurai. I've done a regular campaign (a while ago), and I'm working on my Rise of the Samurai campaign now... then I have to stop for a while again. If I actually played this (and Rome, and Medieval 2) until I got bored of them... well, I'd never get anything else done.

2. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. On the PS3 HD collection... I just finished MGS3 so this will have to be done soon.

3. Skyward Sword. My exception to my "I finish what I start" statement. 90 mins in I stopped to play other things. I'll give it another go... I should be past the boring opening now.


And my GOG.com games...

5. Baldur's Gate 2 & expansion (played 1)
6. Jagged Alliance 2 (skipped 1)

i don't really feel the need to finish games. i decided one day to give up that notion as i found myself playing games past the point of enjoyment for the mere sake of finishing them. In this day and age of lets-plays i find it makes more sense to play a game for as long as i enjoy, but the moment it starts feeling like work - i quit. Usually this comes when i reach a point where my character gets so overpowered that the game is no longer fun. Or maybe i reach a point where i feel like 'ok, i've seen everything this game has to offer, time to move on'. I can just watch a lets-play to see how the story works out. I don't regret these purchases as i got more than my money's worth for the part of the game i did enjoy.

I do have some games i haven't even begun however. games i intend to play but for which fate keeps putting obstacles in my way. dark souls. disgaea 4. the baconing.

i think the real trouble is that some of my most favorite games have no ending, i can just endlessly replay them, and in so doing i continually fill up what free time i have. league of legends. crusader kings 2 (most recent addiction). tales of maj'eyal. dungeon crawl: stone soup.

but you know , its an nice problem to have. beats the alternative of there being a glut and no games to play at all, i remember plenty of times like that in the distant past. this is better.
