It can be hating a fan favorite character
One word: Sephiroth

Expanded to three words: Final Fantasy VII

It was passable when it came out, though disappointing. The FMVs were overhyped, the game was buggy, and the story was swiss cheese. And yet it's still lauded by legions of magnesium-pantied fans over a decade later.

And I loved VIII. Go figure.
we are on the same boat, EVERYONE hated VIII and i loved it, the story at least was more constructed than VII, but whatever...

Dragon Age 2 was an improvement over Origins in every conceivable way. On general games forums, that statement isn't so bad - you're always likely to find a few other people who share your opinion. On the Bioware Social Network? Not a chance. I'm honestly starting to wonder if the BSN doesn't automatically filter out "Dragon Age 2 was better than Origins" and replace it with "I had sex with all of your mothers. Multiple times. I'm actually having sex with her right now" judging by the reactions from other members.

I guessing my would be for not owning a Xbox 360 so I have miss out on many good games (Bioshock, Gears of War, Deadspace, Portal, Batman Arkham Asylum and many more).
Four of those five games were multi-platform releases for the 360, PS3, and PC. And I would recommend each one of them if you have a PC that can run them or if you have a PS3. (As long as you enjoy those genres, of course.)

OT: Well, to the people on this site, mine would be that I've actually enjoyed the Halo and Gears of War series' and I don't feel that Sonic the Hedgehog should be brought behind a shed and shot (a view which I believe most people only hold because Yahtzee said it), I actually believe that his games are getting better and better now.

Multi-Player FPSs hold zero appeal to me. Every few years, I'll try one. 1942. Operation Flashpoint. SoCom. Rainbow Six. CoD:MW3 All rather meh. I'd play the campaign for maybe an hour. The multi-player for 2-3 hours, and be done with it.

I kinda liked Star Wars Battlefront, but that was it; even then, I'd play it maybe a few hours a month.

I forgot to mention that I only own a Wii (I can't afford to get a Xbox 360 or PS3) and my PC is unstable due to old age (although I do intend to get a new one).

I loved VIII too... granted, I also loved VII, but it was the first RPG I ever got to really sink my teeth into, so I know my opinion there is forever skewed.

My biggest sin is my backlog- I have a good sized pile of games I've never finished... or played... or opened. This in and of itself isn't the problem, the games in it are. Off the top of my head:

God of War 1 and 2 (don't own 3 yet- meant to play these first)
Kingdom Hearts 2
Half of the Phoenix Wright series
The World Ends With You
The majority of the Zelda franchise (I think I own all but 2, but I've only completed 4- and 3 of those are on Game Boy)

There's many, many more, but these are ones my friends yell at me most over.

Oh yeah... I also own no current gen Mario titles. I have a Paper Mario game for GC I bought on impulse out of a bin, everything else is SNES and older. I'm not a big fan.

2) I liked Deus Ex: Invisible War (Again, I didn't judge it by its predecessor, but rather as a shooter on its own merits.)
Me too. I played it not having played the original, and found it to be an adequate console shooter.
Then I tried Deus Ex on the PC and realized how far away from it's roots it was. But I still enjoyed it.

I actually never completed the story of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I messed around with the sub-quests for a while then ended up completely forgetting about it before trading it in.

Fair enough. Though for what it's worth, those games don't have universal appeal so there's always a chance that even after you got the opportunity to play them, you'd simply be underwhelmed because of all the hype they've had. Especially Portal.

I can't recommend that game enough, really, and the version of the Source Engine that it uses would probably run on toaster ovens at this point, but with all of the hype it has received from stupid memes and internet fans, you'd likely be disappointed by the short story mode and small amount of actual exposition.

Portal? It's readily available on PC.

OT: I'm not up in arms about TF2's items and hats; I just play the damn game.

They hate developing for the console.

My capital sin has to be never playing Morrowind...
Oh god, I'm so sorry. I'll go correct myself now.

In my opinion, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is a genuinely good piece of storytelling.
This is one of my favorite games of all time and I wholeheartedly agree.
As for gaming "sins" everyone likes different games... so anyone who thinks its a sin to not like/or like something can piss off for being an elitist bastard.
Besides for PC gamers being the master race of gaming... that is true. lol.

That's not a sin.
It's an art tool that requires grinding to use. That's terrible design.

I tell everyone who thinks SC 2 is the god of all RTS games that they're as wrong as 2+2=5. Seems like a Capital offense seeming as so many are SC 2 fanboys.

Total Annihilation out classes everything.

Not saying Sc 2 is bad, I loved it. But TA is as a Thor to a Baneling.

Still love MW2, both multiplayer and singleplayer, found FF XIII to be amazing, and can't stand Half-Life. At all.
