I'm just curious, what's your gaming history? By this I mean, what consoles (or PCs) have you owned? Which ones have you played? What are your favorite games? Feel free to list anything you want. I'll start:

1st console played: Nintendo Entertainment System at my daycare as a child. We had three games: Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, and Megaman 5.

1st console owned: SEGA Genesis. My dad bought this for himself to play Madden and other sports games, and the occasional action title (I saw a game with a fighter jet on the cover once, but I can't remember which one). Sonic the Hedgehog 2 came free with the Genesis, and became one of my favorite games. My collection ended up growing to include Sonic and Knuckles, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Sonic 3D, and the power rangers movie game (I can't quite remember the title). There were other games, but not a lot, and they are forgetable.

1st handheld owned: My second gaming machine was the Game Boy Pocket, with my first game for it being Pokemon Red Version. It was also my first RPG, so it confused me a little bit, but I got used to it. Other notable titles include Super Mario Land 2, Pac-Man, and Tetris.

2cd console owned: By now my Genesis had grown old and finnicky, and being mesmerized by the shiny new generation of gaming, I bought myself my first console purchased with my own money, my Nintendo 64. My first game for this was Super Smash Bros., and though I was a pikachu user at first, I eventually graduated to relying mostly on Link and Fox. Other notable titles include The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Starfox 64, Donkey Kong 64, Spiderman, and Kirby 64.

3rd console owned: When the next generation of games arose, I was willing and ready to get a new console. This console was the PS2. Notable titles include Jak and Daxter 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank 1 and 2, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, Soul Calibur II, Metal Gear Solid 1-3, and Final Fantasy XII.

4th gaming machine: While I still played my PS2 as I played this, the advent of online gaming led me to turn to my PC as a gaming platform. Notable titles include City of Heroes (not playing anymore), Star Wars Galaxies (not playing anymore [damn you NGE]), World of Warcraft (not playing anymore), Warcraft 3, Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, Star Wars: Republic Commando, and Diablo 1 and 2.

Current consoles owned: With my PC having been outdated and now only good for last-gen games, and being too cheap to buy a new PC, too attracted to console exclusives, and too lazy to keep upgrading all the time, I abandoned being a PC gamer. I currently own both the Xbox 360 and the Wii (as well as all my past consoles with the exception of the Genesis), and am loving them both. Notable titles include The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Gears of War 2, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, Assassin's Creed, The Orange Box and many others.

Misc. information: I only mentioned the Game Boy Pocket up there because it was significant as being the first gaming machine that was exclusively mine, as my Genesis was technically my Father's, and he let me use it. The Handhelds I have owned include the Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance (what a rip-off, the thing was too bulky, and the screen was too dark), Game Boy Advance SP, and the original Nintendo DS.

I have played plenty of other consoles besides what I have owned, and I only mentioned the NES up there because it was my first exposure to video games. Other consoles I have played that I have not owned include the SNES, Playstation, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, and Playstation 3.

If I was to post all that I have owned or played it would be a small novel.

It all started out with legend of zelda on the NES. After that I was addicted to DOOM. Then i discovered portable gaming and rpgs (similar to the way you did). I then played FFVII, and disvovered games can be a medium of storytelling. After making my way through all the console generations and dabbling in PC gaming, I'm currently an MMO addict. Goodbye future.

in a nutshell: i saved up for and bought an NES *just* to play romance of the three kingdoms and (the first) final fantasy. i still have that exact NES, and those two exact carts connected to an old commodore 1084S in the bedroom.

Here it goes =D
I warn you, though =P

Allright. First thing I ever played anyting on was a Commodore (Don't remember what number, but remember there was a number). I was a kid back then, and my father had one. Se me and my brothers played a lot. It hink we also had a SNES, but I'll get back to that. I remember there was this game called "Rainbow Island" that we played a whole lot. At least I think it's what it's called. I remember I won it several times on one-player, and also a lot of times on multiplayer. We also had this drawing program on the Commodere. I loved that drawing program.

We had a computer back then, but that was mainly my brother's occupation. So I did'nt play any computer games at that time. We did have a SNES, I remember. What I played on that one was Donkey Kong: Country. This was when I began to play games more frequently. We also Had Super Mario (something something. Don't remember). I played through DOnkey Kong quite some times. Both multiplayer and single. I used to be quite angry at my freinds if they fucked up =P. Now, SNES was the first console we had quite a few games with (I mostly have most of them now too). It was Clay Fighter (A game where you were clay figures fighting. I loooooved it =D). I always tried to find someone to play it with. Again I played it a lot with my brothers. THere was this game where you were going inside books or something. DOn't remember. Not a significant game. Neither was the other game titled "time (something)". I and my brother tried to come as far as possible, but was'nt able. Also the game Demolition Man =D I loved that game. Except for the levels where you were looking from above, though. They were boring. I always loved the quote at the begining, "Ain't an enemy I can't catch". We also had several other games, but I don't remember them now.

Also our grandparents had a Amiga 56? Or 58. SOmething like that. It was a console, that read CD's. I remember there were some games I loved on it. Like the game I was playing with my cousine a lot. Bubble shooter or something like that, it was called. Also there were this RPG game that I never were any good at. But loved it anyhoo.

And then came the Nintendo 64. How great that was. Now I was starting to really get in to gaming. I got a couple of new freinds, and we were gaming James Bond:Goldeneye as if it was between life or death. Also mission Impossible 2 I think. With the hotel scene. I tried any way possible to imagine, to check if there were an alternate way to go through it. THe way it was meant was a bit too boring =P
We played James Bond multiplayer several times. Think we had 4 controllers. And we made up all sorts of rules. Also Mario Kart. But that was later. But still. We got a few opther games aswell. Don't remember them, though.

Then the era of Sony Playstation begun. We got Plasytation One, and I really was playing that a lot. I think this might be around the same time I got a computer, and was addicted to Duke Nukem and Doom. (Doom I was never able to finsih, and same with Duke Nukem. I remember I loved to give strippers money, and kill boars. But was not able to run though it all) I played quite a few games on playstation one, but nothing I remember especially.

PS2 on the other hand was a real console in my eyes. Now I was a gamer. I remember I bought the small playstation 2 (this applies with number one too, actually). And I remember there was a hell of a lot of games I played on it. I just don't remember wich at the moment.

And then there was gameCube. I did'nt own one, but my brother did. I think. So we were playing Smash brothers and Double Dash. And Strikers Football. Those are the ones I remember.

Never owned a Xbox or PS3. Never played them either. Except for Halo on Xbox. Wich was my brothers.

Now to the computer section. I'll just list the games I remember having played
Max Payne 1&2
GTA - all of them
Black and White - only the first
Rise of Nation
Age of Empire
Red Alert
Half Life - all of them
Portal
L4D
Hitman
Empire Earth II
Sam & Max - the original, and now the episodes
CS, CS:S, Half Life deathmatch, etc
WoW
Warcraft 2
Starcraft, and Brood War (still waiting for Starcraft 2)
Diablo 2
Sims (almost all of the expansion pack on number 1, and a lot of them on number 2)
Sim City
Spore
(That's all I remember now)

NAd now I've gotten myself a Wii. WIth that I have Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Wii Sport, Mario Strikers football Challenge, Mario Kart Wii.

I started with a Spectrum 48, lured by the genius of Way of the Exploding Fist (Still one of the finest fighters ever made).

I graduated the bug prone Spectrum 128+2a so that I could blay astonishing games like Chase HQ and Batman (The Movie).

I was still using and enjoying that bit of kit when my brother got a Commadore 128 which used these amazing floppy disk thingys that loaded INSTANTLY!!!
I wasted an entire summer playing California Games before moving on to a SNES - Which I still consider the finest games machine ever made. Axelay, Contra, SF2, Starfox, Pilotwings, Vortex, Unirally, NBA Jam and obviously Super Mario Kart were the highlights of these times.
Somewhere around this point I also got hold of an Atari Lynx from somewhere - Electrocop kept me entertained for weeks and I got to learn to play California Games all over again!

Then came the Gameboy which I believe was the first machine I ever had that was purchased from retail. Tetris, Tetris, Tetris, Tetris, Batman, F1 race, Motoccross Maniacs the astonishingly good Battletoads were my staple diet on this one. I eventually upgraded to a Pocket Color and enjoyed Tomb Raider, SFalpha and Duke Nukem.

Then I made the biggest mistake in my video game experience when I traded my SNES for a Play Station.
It was on this machine however when I discovered my love of the obscure gem: Vib Ribbon, Parappa the Rappa and Bust a Groove remain 3 of the best RA games around and the likes of Silent Bomber, Bishi Bashi Special, Pocket Fighters and Apocalypse all held there heads up alongside SFalpha3, Driver, Grand Theft Auto and ISS Pro Evo 2. I later got the PSone redesign which I consider to be the best looking console ever made.

The Dreamcast came next with Jet Set Radio, MSR, Tech Romancer, Psychic Force 2012, Project Justice, Cannon Spike, Powerstone and the masterpiece of Space Channel 5 - games that keep me coming back to this day.

The PS2 is still fresh enough in the memory for me to not bother listing all the 50 or so games I still own - just think of anything great that wasn't an RPG and I played, loved and probably own it. Worthy mentions for Okami, SotC, Ico, God Hand and Mr Moskeeto.

Next I got my hands on a GBA Micro and a flash writer (Naughty boy) and played a million classics right up till the DS killed off the software. Advance Wars stands out but Ninja 5-0, TMNT and Drill Dozer also stick in the memory amongst more quality games than any other system can boast.

In recent times:
I got a 360 3 years ago for which I have 23 games, a Wii 1 year ago for which I have 12, a DS and M3 card (still naughty) and a PS3 this last Christmas, the recent addition of SFIV has bumped the software library for which up to three whole games.
The PS3 and DS are the most disappointing lumps of hardware I've owned since that Lynx.

I got given an Amiga 512 and an Atari 400 recently by a friend who moved to New Zealand and picked up a Neo Geo Pocket Color off Ebay for 3 quid - and subsequently the 5 best games for it for a tenner the lot.

Best of all at the end of last year another friend moved to Norway and gave me a SNES he found in his attic along with most of the games I loved from back in the day!

I'm not gonna say which one's I've played - because we'd be here all day. I'll just list the ones I've owned;

First gaming machine:

ZX Spectrum +3 128k. The disk drive was pretty useless because most shops only bothered stocking tapes for the more popular +2 model. But damn, I loved this machine. (And it was pretty easy to rig up a cassette player to it anyway) The Dizzy game series. The Sentinel. Most games were just pure acid trips. (Pixie the Microdot, anyone?) But I loved it. Ahh, nostalgia...

Second Machine:

The Speccy lasted me all the way until I got a Sega Mega Drive. Sonic the Hedgehog just blew me away after playing Spectrum games. This console lasted me all the way up until;

Third Machine:

Sony Playstation (mark 1). Think a great many of us had a PS1. Not much else to say here. GAme I remember the most is a little gem called Warhawk.

Fourth Machine:

This is when I first started playing games heavily on the PC. So I'll insert this here.

Fifth Machine:

Xbox (Mark 1). Fondest memory is probably spending all day with 3 mates beating Brute Force. I traded it in the next day, but it was an awesome way to spend a Saturday. (I was the Replicant Sniper chick.)

Sixth Machine:

I got a Gaming PC Rig built after the Xbox died. Been happy with it ever since.

N64, still in use at home
Game Boy Color, gathering dust
Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim for PC, still pull it out occasionally
GBA, gathering dust
Gamecube, gathering dust
Civilization 3, currently occupied by my sister at home. Apparently I wasn't going to bring it to college.

Orange Box for PC, gathering dust, awful video card on my laptop

I'll learn my lesson next generation.
