Hello escapist, Pegghead here.

It has been exactly one year since I started this little ol' account, exactly one year since my very first post and my introduction to the greatest website for geek and gaming culture on the internet.

So to celebrate my reaching of this magnificent milestone I thought I'd start a thread about the events in your time as a gamer that shaped you and indeed your gaming today, be it a particular console you hold dear, the first enemy you ever eliminated, the first console war you were a part of whatever.

Edit: I'm stumped thinking up ones for myself, if I have any ideas I'll post back again.

Well, I remember the first game I ever played was Tomb Raider, which pretty much has everything to do with my love of the adventure genre now. I loved the game so much I'd use to wanna' be an archeologist just like Lara Croft, lol. I was young!

Then there was KOTOR, which made me appreciate story-lines, and most of all, the characters. That game has had a MAJOR impact on the games I play today, and because of it I have experienced many joys such as Mass Effect, Fallout 3, ect.

True, upon reflection I think KOTOR was one of the first enormous rpg's with a proper toryline that I ever played. It was like the final fantasy seven of this generation.

My fist enemy was the mushrooms in the Mario NES game that came with the system. I played mostly games that my brother bought because I couldn't buy any. I beat Ninja Gaiden several times and most RPG's that came out on the ps1. Then I quit gaming for a long time and only recently started again a few years ago. I have like 3000 gamer points and a level 4 psn account, these are milestones for me.

First time playing a video game system, when I was 5 years old - California Games on an Atari Lynx (the old one, not the II).

First time playing Super Mario Land and the Great Giana Sisters, when I was 7 years old, on Gameboy and Commodore 64 respectively, I remember the cheat code to get to the last level was Armin.

Humm first game I ever beat was Pokemon Red, I guess that would count as one, don't exactly know what else would count as a milestone.

I have spent more time gaming in my life than anything else (Maybe tied with sleeping).

Difficult puzzles and challenges are moderately trivial to me. It really boils down to controls and my level of skill with them to determine how quickly I overcome anything.

First game, and first platformer - Crash Bandicoot (the original). Without that, I wouldn't be a gamer today (well, I would, but I'd have played a different 'first game' instead...).

First adventure game - Riven. I subsequently played Myst, and was hooked.

First console that I owned myself (so, not a family console like our PS2) - Nintendo DS. I won it in a competition along with Metroid Prime, but wasn't a big Metroid fan, so after making several complaints that the game hadn't arrived yet after I received the DS I finally had the game sent out. I played for a short while then went and traded it in for Mario Kart...

First game bought on Steam (rather than Steam-Activated, like L4D or Dawn of War: Soulstorm) - Rome: Total War. That was about six months ago and I'm still only halfway through the campaign as the Brutii. Seriously, it's a great game and all, but so freaking long...

Well, the first game I ever recall playing?
MDK, I watched my older brothers play that when I was 6 or 7, I snuck on once after they had left, heh. Also to anyone that has ever played MDK, kudos to you, for it is awesome!

First real FPS I ever played for more than 5 minutes was HL2, and I absolutely loved every minute of it, and still do.

But my biggest gaming milestone?
Finally getting around to finish Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn.

And it was fucking awesome!

I remember my first gaming moments. I was 3. I couldn't jump over a hole in Crash Bandicoot. I cried. Oh yes, I cried.

2 years later I was lighting midgets on fire as a purple dragon and mugging tourists in the streets of liberty city not long after that.
