Weird as this sounds, buying almost any modern day AAA title at launch.

Because right now we live in a world where it seems like the vast majority of big titles

A. will get DLC at some point and
B. will get some sort of special edition that usually costs less AND comes with all the DLC attached.
And this is why I'm not buying Far Cry 3 yet.

Then again as far as I know its only DLC has been a stand alone game called Blood Dragon so...
I'm pretty sure they've stated they're not developing any actual DLC, oddly enough. I think there's some potential with that game.

I regret not buying Xenoblade Chronicles when I had the chance. My GameStop has a copy used right now... but it's $90. Once you go online, it gets way more expensive than that. Oh well...

I regret buying any game at launch, because after a month it's cheaper, or comes with a limited edition etc.
And paying for any game based on a movie.
Also, playing Twilight Princess before Skyward Sword. I'd probably have liked Skyward Sword a lot more if I hadn't played Twilight Princess.

Falling for the hype of brink. Thought it was going to be some revolutionary shooter that would go down as having improved and changed the genre.

Turned out it was a piece of shit. and a waste of £40. £10 on steam, tops.

My insistence on getting everything in one playthrough using a walkthrough destroyed a large majority of fun in Persona 3, I dropped it somewhere around mid-late summer game time.

I have a tendency to do that with games that have far reaching consequences. I don't like finding out I screwed something up by not focusing on a stat by a certain time or I was locked out of something because I talked to everyone which progressed something that locks out something else unrelated later on.

I kind of with I had played Morrowind before Oblivion. I was never able to get into it because of how differently it plays from Oblivion. It's shame because of how interesting Morrowind is as a setting.

Not paying attention to DC Universe Online. I stopped playing for a while and Sony gave the European accounts (like mine) to ProSiebenSat. Since I never told them I wanted to transfer my SOE account to them, when I came back I was no longer able to access my old characters, expansions or any of the costume unlocks I paid for. I emailed their support, but was told I was out of luck. I've played loads of MMOs, but I've never been treated that badly by one. Looking at their forums I'm not alone.

I hold a grudge, so I'm not having anything to with either of them. I won't be buying anything with Sony on it, including the PS4. Microsoft had more or less talked me out of getting the Xbone, but since they didn't steal from me, I hope the PS4 dies on it's arse. That probably won't be the case, but I'm hoping.

On the plus side, I took the money I was thinking of spending on DCUO and spent it on Steam and enjoying the games I got.

Not having any sort of console growing up. Alot of my friends had Super Nintendos, Playstations, N64s, everything. Not to say I suffered as I grew up on the PC side of things, with awesome titles like Half-Life, Thief, Age of Empires, etc, but I still would have liked the experience of having my own game console, especially when I talk about it with friends, as they all reminisce about their MegaDrives and NESs, I didn't get that opportunity. First World Problems I think.

I watched Extra Credits' 3-part series on The Walking Dead; I kinda wanted to play it but wasn't sure if I'd ever get around to it. Thankfully, the actual episodes were intentionally free from spoilers, but a very quick glance down to the comment section revealed how it ended; the person didn't even say it directly, just referenced to it. Not knowing the characters didn't matter because my mind still pieced it all together. Then when I finally got around to playing it, while it was still a fantastic game, the whole way through I couldn't stop thinking of what was supposed to happen at the end. Ended up being much less emotional than I was told it would be, which kinda sucked haha. Why did I look at the comments!?

A bit that *was* really emotional, though, was when you find the boy in the attic and the event that follows - my eyes were definitely watering there, which was a first haha. Maybe the ending would have been even worse if it just hadn't been spoiled :(

A long time ago, I had a choice to buy either "Super Mario Bros. Deluxe" or "Pokemon: Crystal" as my first Gameboy Color game... for my Gameboy Advance...

I choose "Super Mario Bros. Deluxe"... The regret comes from the fact that "Pokemon: Crystal" would have been my first official Pokemon game to have owned at the time... and now, I only use "Deluxe"'s calendar feature whenever I'm too lazy to turn a full 180 to look at my own Pokemon calendar...

The only other gaming regret (I can think of right now) is buying both "Ultimate Marvel vs Capcon 3" and the PS3 "Game of Thrones" game through Gamestop preorder... I quickly went straight into "BlazeBlue: Continuum Shift Extend" when I bought the Limited Edition version through Gamestop preorder (that I used my "Ultimate" copy to pay for it) and the only reason why I still have my PS3 copy of "Game of Thrones" is because... it's GAME OF THRONES... and it came with a neat art book that I sometimes refer back to...

(On another note, the best not-a-gaming-regret I had is buying Skullgirls on Day 1 off PSN without having any prior knowledge of the game at the time... One of the best impulse buys I have ever made in my lifetime!!)

My biggest gaming regret is by far lending my SNES to a friend and never getting it back.

If I remember correctly, it was late in the N64's cycle and I didn't really care about the SNES anymore (I actually didn't care much about the N64 either at that point). One of my friends asked for my SNES because he wanted to replay Super Mario RPG and didn't have his anymore for some reason. So I lent him mine and kind of forgot about it. Time went by and before I knew it we had completely lost contact and he never returned my console.

I still have all of my cartridges and I guess that tracking down a SNES online wouldn't be too hard. With emulators it's pretty much a non-issue anyway. But deep inside I still feel very sad about this. The SNES was my first console and I have a very clear memory of that Christmas day when I got it.

I saw a copy of Kingdom hearts Birth By Sleep complete at an anime convention for about $60 (less then the import price) and instead I bought Final Fantasy Ducidem (sp) the second one, for more money because I thought it had more stuff in it.

Never had I been so wrong.

The enthusiast part of me loves introducing my friends to video games... until the inner Hulk part of me sees that not only do they progress through the game FASTER than me, but they also get more achievements/trophies than me. Which, for some reason, REALLY grinds my gears. I can't STAND my big mouth and suggesting games that other people might enjoy because I really hate when they one-up me in said games, even if they don't mean to :I

Also, selling a handful of my DS games for virtually no reason and loving my first gamecube to death. R.I.P. Ergo; you were the best little gamecube I ever had.

I had got into a jaded fan-rage mode over WoW during the Burning Crusade due to how Blizzard was ruining it and mostly that they cared so very little about PvP and balance in that game.

I had deleted my account with a SERIOUSLY EPICLY GEARED PvP warlock and over 32 thousand gold. I only realized relatively recently that instead of ragequitting and leaving a cliche "IM QUITTING" ragepost on the forums I could have hired gank-squad mercenaries to lock down entire world zones for weeks or months. It would have been an absolutely perfect way to quit, would have been insanely fun for me, (open world ganks were like... my entire thing. Guilds would literally summon in raids to camp little ol' me,) and would have garnered far more serious attention from the playerbase.

I paid way too much for Star Ocean: The Second Story on PSX (PAL version) because I was in collecting mode for rare-ish JRPGs.

On a *completely unrelated* topic, anyone wanna buy a heap of rare-ish PAL PSX JRPGs for way too much? :p
