We all have them. What little gaming-related idiosyncrasies make you mad with rage?

For me:
- When people refer to Portal or the Metroid Prime trilogy as being FPS's. Just because they are in first person and feature shooting does not make them FPS's.
- This recent trend in games when devs label their new games as an "FPS/RPG hybrid" to make it sound "smarter" when in reality it is essentially an FPS with very weak and barely noticeable RPG elements.
- When people complain about JRPG's based solely on the fact that Yahtzee doesn't like them.
- When people complain about how the Mario and Zelda series have so many sequels when just about every other game series does the same thing (this also stems from Yahtzee a lot of the time).

When my friend plays Left 4 Dead, he refuses to use any of the healing items on the teammates because he believes that they're worthless. It's not because he's good at the game, in fact, he's the worst video game player I know. Then he blames the game when he dies all the time.

When another generic FPS is made.
When people make fun of Pokemon for being too "Kiddy".
When games freeze on me.

Actually... it does. Just because the focus isn't on combat doesn't mean it's not a FPS. If you break it down, FPS stands for First Person Shooter. In both Metroid Prime and Portal, you play in first-person and shoot. Ergo...
- This recent trend in games when devs label their new games as an "FPS/RPG hybrid" to make it sound "smarter" when in reality it is essentially an FPS with very weak and barely noticeable RPG elements.
Well, it moves units, and that's all that matter.

Really nothing to disagree with here, although the Mario and Zelda complaints have been around long before Yahtzee, and giving him credit for creating that argument is giving that hack far too much credit.

Not necessarily related directly to the gameplay:

+The high-pitched, foul-mouthed players who tend to populate the high-traffic multiplayer shooters.

+The Teabaggers, who tend to also be the previously mentioned players.

Gameplay-related:

+Bad-dialoge, particularly the phrases "I got a bad feeling about this" and "We're not alone..."

+AI Squadmates that you don't order around.

+Shotguns (never enough ammo when you need it and always plentiful in situations that you don't).

I hate when in an open world game you can end up walking around for three hours not realizing you didn't kick a certain stone on a road two and a half hours ago and the game doesn't give you any hints that it needs to be done in order to trigger the next event.

I'm starting to get annoyed with every FPS game nowadays trying to add some realistic element to the gunplay.

Stop fucking doing it Devs!

Killzone 2 attempted to add weight to their guns to make it more realistic, Instead it just made it slow and clunky and overall unenjoyable. Why would I play an FPS where it's not fun to kill things?
This, though with any game that tries to make things seem "Real" like adding say a hunger meter or some crap (For example Dark Cloud). It may not be to add realism but honestly, theres alot of stuff going on in games sometimes, worrying about how hungry and thirsty you are while fending off monsters isnt exactly fun.

Just about anything like that really.

Kill-cams
teabagging WHEN IT WASN'T A SKILL KILL
rushing in RTS (which is probably why M2:TW is my favorite RTS of all time)
instant kill melees
bad maps (too many examples from too many games to name)
full EV trained Pokerus infected shiny pokemon. Please just go eat shit and die. No one cares.
the model for the medics in BF:BC2 (I hate that gay mustache on the USA medic)
people who insist that realism in games is bad.
bad sound effects (every gun in MW2)

That's all I got right now.

The term RPG being put on a pedestal as the master class genre.
No, Zelda isn't an RPG. That isn't a bad thing either, stop messing up the terms because you apparently think RPG's are perfect or something.

Also people who think Role Playing Game is just YOU PLAY A ROLE SO ITS ROLE PLAYING. Role playing games are all about using stats to determine a characters abilities rather than playing input. In an FPS, your character is only as good at shooting as you are, in an RPG, you could be the worst shot ever, but your character is great at shooting because the stats say so, just like table top games that
coined the term.

Edit: Oh, and people who take Teabagging seriously and actually give a rats ass about getting teabagged. It's just a crouching animation, stop getting bothered by it.

Snipers.
I don't like sitting miles away from the action clicking on people's heads, and if it's a good game, people shouldn't be able to do it to me either.

AI squadmates who are dumb as shit and have about the same accuracy rating.

When in co-op your teammate can pick you up, but alone the AI squadmate(s) can't and will never do it.

Comp enemies in RTSs that know exactly where you are from the beggining, and when you try to rush hem you have to set out to find them first, they send a wave straight at you from the start.

Comp enemies in RTss that are Psychic. The minute you leave your base, thier one you like they just arrived there at the right time. Lucky them!

Comp thrown GRENADES UP THE ASS!

People who block you from safety when you pop out of cover. Like when I use bolt actions/shotguns/reloading/dodging grenades I pop out, fire, then pop back into cover. It is beyond annoying when I try to pop back into cover just to find someone is blocking my path, allowing the sniper way down field to get an easy shot on me.

When save files get corrupted.

When a game freezes right after you did something that took hours and there were no save checkpoints along the way.

When the power goes out and crashes your game.

XBOX Live players.
