Hope I put this in the right category but w/ever. Okay, so you've got a couple of hours to kill and that one game you can't get enough of is looking at you in just the right way. My question is what game is it and what is your "gaming-sesh" set up? Music/ refreshments/ family members bound and gagged in other room so as not to disturb you? All the details, GO!!!!

Turn on console.

Sit on bed.

Play.

Nothing fancy, and marathon sessions aren't special. I'll just walk downstairs when I'm thirsty/hungry.

Sounds about right. Wife being out and therefore not moaning about me not paying attention to her is an added bonus.

Sit down on lazy-boy chair. Cross legs. lean forward. (Proper position is important.) Pick up controller. Play.

Fortunately, I own my own home, so my gaming setup is the same as my living room setup. If I'm in it for the long haul, I usually have an iced tea by my side.

And the only other person in my house games with me. I had to get him his own t.v. though, so he wouldn't interrupt my Fallout playing with his incessant requests to play Borderlands.

Close curtains, turn on surround sound, sit on gaming chair, get bottle of water and play.

1) Get a glass of cold water.
2) Sort out the lighting in the room; during the day this means adjusting the blind to minimize glare, and at night it means closing the sliding door directly opposite my desk so the kitchen light doesn't reflect off of my monitor.
3) Turn on pedestal fan.
4) Lock keyboard tray and lock chair in upright position.

I'm playing quite a bit of Halo:Reach at the moment, with asides of Fallout:NV for the occasional change of pace, so:

Pantera/Disturbed/Metallica playing if I'm playing single player campaign, no music and mic on if multiplayer for Reach; ingame music for NV.
4-pack of beer by the sofa and ashtray on the armrest regardless of game.

Commence.

Set up in my loungeroom. I live on my own so never any people around. I never even turn it on if people are over. Gaming is a solitary thing for me.

Normally I know I will be playing for at least a few hours, so I always have a pack of Caramello Koala's and Tim-Tams next to me. Always have a coke or a coffee going at some point and cigarettes and other forms of smoke are of course essential for gaming. Helps me "chill out and just play" alot easier.

After all that is set, I then take my time to get "just right" into my beanbag (beanbag owners will know what I mean), punch a few quick ones and then cigarette before I start. Normally have a smoke or two between matches or if I am just taking a break from say Pinball FX or Trials HD.

Also for those who don't have a beanbag I would recommend one for gaming. I always used to use a chair but after a while would get uncomfortable and have to stop playing but with the beanbag I can sit and play till the game burns me out, not the chair.

Draw at least one of the curtains to minimise glare. Sit on the bed (or prop myself up) have a thermos flask full of tea or coffee, and play to my heart's content. If I feel like listening to music other than the in game music I will turn on my iPod and listen to Voltaire.
This also counts as a perfect weekend.

-Reduce light as much as possible. (glare kills more than hostiles)
-Make sure mini-fridge is stocked with as much Dr. Pepper and blueberries as possible.
-Sit in this old ass armchair that's liable to break any day now.
-Play!
