I love being able to good-heartedly talk shit with people while we blast each other into next week. Why does "Dude, did you see the way your body FLEW?" always have to come across to people as an insult to people? Especially if their body literally popped into the air and flew over a railing.
Indeed.
This is what online gaming should be like in my opinion, and it is the reason why I despise the term "competitive multiplayer" and the concept behind it; I, like every other functional human being in the world, compete with people all day long in one way or another, and the stakes can be quite high - it's what we do. However, when I'm at home and playing a game with people online, I want to have fun, not be frustrated from not being top dog on the list of K/D ratios. There
are occasions when the group you play with are like-minded and can still enjoy themselves even if they suck at the game, but most of the time it turns into trading hurtful barbs over something that is essentially even more meaningless than winning an argument on an internet forum. "Competitive" is a word with an aggressive edge, and a lot of folks get sucked into it, all the while forgetting that a game is supposed to be fun, not work. (I know, the two don't necessarily have to be mutually exclusive, but I stand by my point.)

This made me laugh and be sad at the same time.
Excellent. Two emotions for the price of one. Where else do you get that kind of deal nowadays?
