I've been a big fan of Assassin's Creed from the very beginning, and I'm also insanely good at multiplayer (its the only game im good at as well). It usually goes that if i want to play, i'll play anything. But when i want to win, its Assassin's Creed every time.

Everybody's Golf for the Playstation Vita.

I've been playing it every day for almost a year now, with no signs of stopping any time soon.

I just absolutely love the gameplay, nothing else compares,
also
Halo 1,2,3,4,odst and reach singleplayer and multiplayer.
I have such a big steam backlog that it isn't a problem (that is truly first world problems, having too many games to play, and not knowing where to start)

Well, it used to be halo 2. But, unfortunately it is no more. I played a fair bit of halo 3, and it was good, but it wasn't quite the same. I had a lot of problems with halo:reach, and don't even get me started on halo 4. So, the last time my xbox live subscription was up for renewal, I just let it go. Basically, leaving me without a go-to-game.

Generally, I'll play though a game, then just move onto the next one. Now and then, I'll go back to something from my childhood, like spyro, or crash bandicoot, but I rarely replay a more recent game. It would have to have been something I really enjoyed.

Depends what I am in the mood for. If I just want to kill a few minutes it is Risk on the PC. I don't have a console so all my games are PC based. If I want a good RTS its either any of the Warhammer 40k Dawn of War series, Master of Orion 2 ,Star Wars Empire at War or Star Wars Rebellion. I love Rebellion just because I love to have a huge fleet to fleet battle in the Star Wars universe. I am just getting into RPG type games in the last year or so. So I am switching between Borderlands 2 and the Mass Effect series a bit. I am not really into sports, fighting or Action games all that much. Left for dead 1 and 2 for a shooter or multiplayer game. I love RTS the most so they make up the bulk of what I play.

My go-to game is Kingdom Hearts II. It's one of my favourite games and just something I can easily and happily while away the hours on when I feel like playing a game but don't know what to play. The Pokemon games, especially the original Red/Blue versions, as well as HeartGold and SoulSiver are those kind of games for me as well when I'm on the move, along with Final Fantasy: Dissidia [duodecim] if I have my PSP.

On the PC, it's "Sid Meier's Pirates!" because it's just so simple yet addictive. And "Diablo II" for pretty much the same reason.

On the console, I like the old "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" because of the fluid gameplay and lush, storybook setting. I usually wind up playing that at least once a year.

Back in the day Jedi Academy multiplayer MBII mod was my go to. Now days my go to game is Zombie Panic Source. Both were for the same reason the game was great and so was the community.

My current go to game that I play when i'm bored is Civ V, I got back into this game again and keep telling myself just one more turn. Then I realize its midnight.

some older games I have gone back to recently are
Startopia
Earth 2150: The Moon Project (amazed this still works on a modern pc)
Sid Miers Alpha Centuari (and alien crossfire the rare expansion)
Xcom (the new one)

That one title which you most commonly tend to put on whenever you feel like playing a game.

Way back a couple of generations ago it was Jedi Academy multiplayer (who else remembers those days?).
I certainly do! it was always jedi accademy, that or Starwars battlefront.

However even back then I devoted more time to pokemon and I still do now its definitely my go to game.

i can't say there is any game that i consistently play. usually when i complete a game, i move onto another one. rarely replaying games and more frequently i don't finish games as often as i used to. (just don't like a lot of modern games anymore) But i do replay some of my all time favorites, mostly RPG's like:
Final Fantasy X, Legend of Dragoon, Lost Odyssey, etc

If i'm feeling nostalgic i'll pop in some older games like Mega Man 2/3, Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania.

Left 4 Dead 2. Love the fact that you can jump in, join a game, play for a while and leave whenever you can. Or you can stay a bit longer and play all the way though.

See, I don't have a lot of time to play anymore so this game is perfect for me right now.

Any of the last 3 Elder Scrolls games, interchangeably. I even cross-over my characters!!!

Sam & Max games (seasons, whatever) on the Wii are nice to sit back and have a beer with. Low stress, light puzzle, comedy - maximum relaxation.

Also, I play Majora's Mask every year or two, so maybe that counts.

Every generation seems to bring a different Go-to game for me. So, starting from the second generation (where I started) and moving on:

2nd: Centepede for the 2600
3rd: Mario 3 or Ninja Gaiden for the NES
4th: Final Fantasy 2/4 on SNES
5th: Tekken 3 on PS1
6th: Tekken Tag Tournament on PS2
7th: Dragon Age Origins

PC - I did most of my PC gaming in 2004-2006 and excluding WoW, my biggest go to was probably Jedi Academy or Max Payne

Rome: Total War. Still endless fun, after 7 years, and playable on basically any modern computer.

These kind of threads are happy threads :D
For me:
Alien Hominid on ps2 (fun solo or co-op!)
Hitman:Blood Money : as someone else mentioned earlier, a small playspace and your wits. replay value level : 10/10
Super Metroid: I just love this game more than words can describe
Resident Evil 2/4 : I just love em both.
Super Mario All Stars+ World: all the classic Mario platformers on one beautiful cartridge

and from this gen, find myself playing a lot of RDR and ACII
