With all the genre bending going on lately in the game industry. I figured a lot of people would have an idea what game they'd want and what genres it would encompass.

At the moment I am currently fascinated in the idea of a game that encompasses FPS and RPG elements and throwing them together into a Multiplayer game, not an MMO. The longer you play, the higher rank(or level) you become, and you can purchase items/skills and other things that persist for that map. The longer you play said game you end up with persistent out of match items, mostly cosmetic so as to not cause a time-based gap between new and old players.

Items could have RPG qualities to them, I.E. Stats like Armour, Damage, and HP buffs. But it'd be balanced out by the fact that each person would go their favourite route. I.E. someone could become an assassin/spy and someone else a hunter/sniper type.

The maps could be about the size of a Battlefield map, and have hotspots and "popup" quests to make engagements important at certain nodes and map control important in and around said node.

Edit: No, not like Savage 2, good game, just not executed properly in my opinion.

I got really excited by Fallout 3 only to be really disappointed by it, a similar game but an open world MMO that is actually an FPS rather than some weird hybrid would be good. None of this 'press this button and we'll aim for you' business.

I thought there was work on a Fallout MMO, anyone know how that is going? I would think they'd make that more VATs inclined though then FPS inclined thinking about it though.

I want more classic styled RPGs, in the style of Fallout 2, or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (not FFT, I didn't really like the style of that one)

Pretty much, focus more on the game length, and playability, with tonnnnns of side story/missions... Instead of focusing on being the BEST graphic'd game, or the game that shows the most skin on the in-game women... Fallout 3 really disappointed me, mostly because it took after oblivion more than the original fallout games.

Fallout 1 was amazing, but glitchy, and needed some features
Fallout 2 was AMAZING. And significantly less glitchy, but got old after I went through every single side mission, hidden item, etc, and replayed the game enough times to have developed every "type" of character.
Fallout Tactics was just a lot fun, gave you backstory on the ever-favored Brotherhood of Steel ...
Fallout 3, :/
It wasn't a bad game, I just, I came to expect more from the series.

ANYWAYS
Fallout 2 (overhead, turn/stat based RPG with almost complete freedom, where you can do almost /anything/)
or
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (simple, yet nice to look at graphics, turn based grid-field combat, with a delay system, etc. Has lots of classes, weapons, items, missions, etc.)

Give me a new game like either of those... I've been doing my best to search for games similar to them (won't find one I like /better/) but to see a new game with one of those styles, add in a lot of effort for extra hours of gameplay, higher res support, and more sprites/animations (not that hard, compared to a full rendered 3D human that looks semi realistic)

I just think game developers today (mostly) focus far too much on how the game will look in a trailer, rather than making a game that's really a lot of fun.

the best elements of Fallout3/Oblivion + Persona 3 FES + online-function and.....and...*brain explodes*

but honestly, just give me a dark and mature story with likable/relatable characters and decent gameplay. Can't go wrong with that

An MMO or multiplayer set in the Thief universe. I wrote it up here, in quite some detail: http://trilby-reviews.blogspot.com/2009/04/not-review-thief-mmo.html

I like loot and lots of it. That's basically what I play RPGs for. Well that and the story.

So basically I'm banking a lot on Borderlands

Probably an FPS-RPG in which God gives you magic powers and orders you to purge a steampunk world of infidels in the most creative way possible.

Sounds kind of like S4 League [http://s4.en.alaplaya.eu], I play that every now and then, although the new gun has ruined melee.

I love S.T.A.L.K.E.R., at least Shadow of Chernobyl. Haven't played Clear Sky. Something like that multiplayer but with a bit more open and larger world would be super awesome.

My ideal game though... Probably an open-ended sandbox unholy matrimony between S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Oblivion, with good writing, and way, way less bugs (or rather, none).
