What would be your ideal stealth game?

Here is what mine would be:

[HEADING=2]Kingdom of Thieves[/HEADING]

[HEADING=3]The Story[/HEADING]

Welcome to the Kingdom of Vazi?sana! You hail from the swampy war-torn isles of Saosia, to escape from the war you took a boat to the Kingdom of Vazi?sana to start a new life, it is however not as you expected after hearing tales of it being a great Kingdom, quickly you realize starting a legal life will be impossible, so you go into the night, and begin your tale as a Thief.

[HEADING=3]Gameplay[/HEADING]

Very akin to Thief: Deadly Shadows, KoT plays in the first person perspective but when you go into cover it goes into third person. Other than that it plays exactly like DS, you can scale walls with rope, assassinates, knock out, hide bodies, water down torches, etc?

The game also takes place in an open world you can go between various cities akin to Assassins Creed, but once you?re there you can decide what to do. There is also a crafting system that will require you to steal the best of items that are unique to each city to craft your personalized arsenal that best fits your style of gameplay. Do warn the game heavily discourages fighting.

[HEADING=3]Alone in a Social World[/HEADING]

The game is online (not required) but you don?t actually play with other players. Instead you interact with them through two ways:

1. Quest Board, for more casual players or crafters, you can put up a bounty on an item and players can take it upon themselves to get these items and give them to the player to get items. This will allow Hard core players to make a lot of money to level up your Home and etc, but also allow more Casual players to get those rare items.

Note: The Quest Board will also be updated with NPC requests over the days. These requests can also have rewards of items rather than just money. Same with Online requests, and lastly you can send requests to friends.

2. The Community City, every copy of the game, whether it be the PS4, Xbox720 (yeah this wouldn?t be a current gen game), or PC comes with a voucher for the PC version editor which allows you to make buildings and levels. These then go through a test with the developer and if the level meets quality standards the game gets updated and the Community City grows with new places to go making it have endless content. The Console versions will get updates with the buildings PC players make.

[HEADING=3]Factions[/HEADING]

There are many Thief factions in the cities, you join one and while you?re in it, you can get benefits from the Faction to which you can help. This also will give you Intel on new item arrivals at manors and buildings, but act quick! Other factions can steal it before you. Rarely will you encounter another thief on the same mission.

Many Officials in the Cities also know of these Factions so joining one (you don?t have to) can net you some faction specific missions that involve stealing information, planting false evidence, and even sabotage to name a few.

[HEADING=3]Living Breathing World[/HEADING]

Over time, seasons will change in the City, from summer to winter, and there will be not only a visual change but the season can possibly hinder your success or help you. There will also be weather that changes that includes, Fog, Rain, Snow, and so on. These can change the variables of the mission and can make it harder or easier to complete a mission depending on the situation.

Also places aren?t static, sometimes manors will hold parties, or hold host to an official and guard levels maybe up or down. So you need to plan wisely before stealing because you could end up trying to steal an item when the Guards are up and possibly getting caught which holds huge repercussions. Granted, during such events the rarity of items will increase so there is risk and reward.

And that?s it! Tell me what you think!

So once more what would be your ideal stealth game and post it! :)

A Thief 4 that doesn't suck, that's about it. I already love the setting, the characters, level structure, and the gameplay of the series so there's really no need to change anything. Just bring it into the modern day of visual quality with all those elements that made the originals so amazing and it would be the perfect stealth game.

Sadly I feel confident in saying that's almost certainly not going to happen, but ah well, a man can dream!

Well, the studio that made Deus Ex: Human Revolution is working on a Thief 4, and since Human Revolution ended up being pretty darn good, there is a pretty good chance that Thief 4 won't suck.

On-Topic: I guess just a longer, more challenging Dishonored with a greater variety of enemies. Dishonored is so close to being my ideal stealth game as it is, it just needs a few more things to get it there.

I know. The Thief franchise is possibly my favourite out there, I've been paying extremely close attention to any details that emerge and frankly despite Human Revolution being surprisingly good, most of the news coming out in regards to Thief 4 hasn't exactly been encouraging.

Plus they named it Thi4f. What a stupid name.

Thief and Thief 2 were my faves but I'm tempted to get Mark of the Ninja.

Edit: One of my favourite Thief moment was early in the game, I was trying to get in and out on a mission without killing anyone. Id doused the light with one of my water arrows and coshed the guard, I grabbed his body and stashed it where I'd thought no-one would find it before I escaped. I hadn't paid enough attention the environment before I'd doused the light though, so id kind of forgotten there was a shallow pool in the corner I dumped him in. A little later in the mission he drowns, there goes my clean mission. I was a bit more careful where I stashed guards after that.

I loved the Tenchu games but they just HAD to go the gimmicky Wii route with their last game so that series is kinda dead because their last attempt was a quite terrible game.

Just some classic tool-based semi-realistic ninja action, there were supernatural stuff but it was just high fantasy, no huge mountain-blasting aura beams and stuff, mainly just hookshotting from roof to roof, jumping on dudes, darting dudes, stabbing dudes, the basic stuff.

I'll admit, I haven't actually been paying close attention to the development of that game, I just know it's happening. Man, Thi4f is a terrible name. I have lost all confidence in it.

Setting: In the hoods. Maybe it's me, but a good stealth game CAN be done here, you just need interesting scenarios. The story line is affected by actions in missions in LARGE ways (killing only the enemy, leaving no trace of your actions, not even knocking out one guard).

Stealth Mechanics: Uses shadows, sounds (Chaos Theory approach), social (Assassin's Creed/Hitman), line-of-sight, altitude, using the environment (camouflage & Solid Snake box trick)

Combat: Involves all types of weapons, ranging from close-quarters (hand-to-hand, knives, bats, improvised weapons) to firearms and explosives of need to be. Stealth combat involves staying quiet, dealing with threats however you see fit. If you want to kill them yourself, do it. Want to take them non-lethally? Do it. Want to use the environment against them? Do it. Combat is also designed if shit hits the fan for you to get out of if need be.

Enemies: Enemies vary in all flavors, ranging from stick-up kids to full-grown shooters with heat. Undercovers, official authority, rival gangs and factions are all enemies... or your friends, depending on how you do things. Enemies are extremely smart, noticing their missing homies or holes blasted in things and at later levels, hacked security systems among other things.

Levels: Levels are built to utilize EVERYTHING you can think of, including using explosives to blast your way in. Levels features an array of security to bypass, from guards to locks to cameras to even improv gun traps and mil-spec security grids. Large enough to accommodate any type of play or movement.

Mini-games: Hacking and lockpicking. That's really it here.

Other features: customizable character, down to clothing, weapons, and more. Parkour-style movement.

Multiplayer: Multiple assassins/thieves are given goals and must complete them, eliminating other players if they can. Levels are filled with the same as single-player, so stealth becomes moar important than usual, especially if shit hits the fan.

I would love a stealth game that incorporates a destructible environment Red Faction Guerilla style. Have it make a lot of noise when you break walls, and remove all the non terrain destroying guns, and it could work. In fact, you could already sneak in Guerilla, it just wasn't the supported approach.

With the way gaming has gone recently, what would make you think that you would actually get a worthy successor to Thief 1/2 ?

I'm sure they'll be quest compasses, health regeneration, no need for stealth cause you will be able to shoot your way through all the guards and being able to survive 1000s of shots no matter the difficulty just like DXHR.

What more can a modern gamer possibly want?
I know you're trolling, but in DXHR you die in like 4 bullets unless you choose to spec heavily into the armor augs.

I love stealth games but I have yet to find one that fits me perfectly. I think I would like something between Batman Arkham and the Metal gear solid series. I always found MGS to be a little to stiff at times and the batman series allowed a little bit to much brawling for me. If I got a balance between those two I would love it.

Metal Gear Solid 4. Loved that game to death. It's one of my favorite games of all time, definitely in the top three.
