Just got home to test it and it seems to be a slow day... =/ Anyway, upstream seems to be solid at 8Mb/s...

EDIT: Just called my ISP and there seems to be a problem with my connection that they're going to fix... Yay! \o/

I'm actually kind of interested now on how much everybody pays a month and what these speeds actually mean.

For example I have never gotten more then 1.2MB download rate. Yet my number says 20? My upload is weak as hell yet I don't lag when I play games.

The schools student wi-fi is terrible. It's rare to get more than 3 bars and most of the time it half loads the page and just quits. I had my own router but it died for no reason and I couldn't get it working again. My dormmate has his own router but i have to ask him to turn it on every few hours.

Apparently not. Probably because I'm on Century Link.

Unfortunately, they're literally the only people that cover my area. Comcast's coverage just kind of skips around my house.

Oh well. I've never really had any problems with it. Although I'm kind of sad that my internet is slower then 65% of the entire US. That kinda sucks.

This is what I get for living about as far from civilisation as it's possible to get in the UK short of living in the Scottish Highlands. Nice scenery though :)

Damn, this is mine.

Everybody else's download speed look so much faster. Guess this is one draw back of living in a third world country.

Is it good? Does it disconnect a million times a day? (Like mine does) What is your average download rate? Oh and who the hell provides you internet? (I'm wanting a replacement damnit!)

I ask these questions because my internet SUCKS ASS and I want to know what everyone else has in comparison. My average download rate is about 60kb/sec which is so damn slow and the stability is a fucking joke. If anyone in my house loads up google images, my internet will just slow to a halt.. So yeah, fuck you BT.
Oh god... BT suck balls. Everything about them is just bloody terrible, especially their customer service. I make a point not to use them for anything.

My stats aren't much better than yours and I'm only 60 miles away from London! I love the Scottish Highlands by the way, beautiful place. Plockton is one of my favourite places ever.

OT: Wow, everyone here seems to have super, super fast internet. Mine is like, ridiculously slow. It says my ISP is TalkTalk... but I'm with Utility Warehouse, unless they're one and the same?

I tried to download a 4GB game from GOG the other day. It's taken me several days of stop/start downloading to complete the 2 files. I have to wait about half an hour for a short YouTube video to fully buffer before it's even worth trying to play it. I highly doubt I even get 3.5mbps most days.

Sadly this is my work connection. It's a fiber connection with ATT. My home connection is slightly better than 1/4 of that. It's a DSL connection with ATT. I'm quite happy with both. Only issues I've ever had with the DSL are the modems crapping out on me. I've had two die but I got a different brand so here's hoping it lasts longer.

At home, about 2 mb/s, at me student digs... to Speedtest!

Much better :) Heard some complaints about Virgin, but they've been pretty decent here.

That's because Speedtest measures in megabits per second, whereas your download rate is in megabytes per second. 8 Mb= 1 MB, so in that example you're downloading 2.6 MB per second.

As you can see not the best on here but certainly not the worst.... Its cable though, not fiber.... I wish I had fiber, but after seeing what others have I am happy I get what I do....

My internet varies from fine to quite annoying, but my Ps3 always has amazing connection. I don't even know why. It downloaded Hearthfire in a matter of seconds, and Dragonborn in a few minutes. My computer takes a few minutes just to open a page sometimes.

Yay England/Virgin Media!

It's normally better than that, generally get 70+ Mb/s. Upload is fairly terrible, but that's not really an issue because it's good enough. Really reliable round here too, so I don't need to worry about disconnecting, always nice I guess.

Got to have that speed if you want 'em torrents.
Net speed certainly helps, but your torrent d/l time isn't entirely dependent on it. A well built machine can make up for quite a bit. My current net is crap, compared to the high speed cable I had before I moved. I can still d/l 1gig or more fairly quickly.

A slow 120kb/sec download rate. Which is about 1/10th of what my ADSL connection should provide. Probably time to see whether a 4G mobile broadband connection can provide greater speeds and equal stability. I doubt it.
Are you sure you're not just confusing bits and bytes?

There are 8 bits (b) to a byte (B).
If your ADSL gives you 1 mbps (they always measure in bits), that means your maximum download speed (always measured in Bytes) will be 125KB/s (1000/8 = 125).
Yep, I nominally have a 10Mbps connection (it's not even possible to get a 1Mbps connection here any more, the lowest one can go is 2 Mbps). In spite of living in a larger city, I must be very far from the central or something, which is why I'm looking to go wireless.

Ping is a bit inaccurate, given I get less to game servers nearby, but this is my result:

Speed is generally unstable as all hell, I'll frequently get 500+ downloading from Steam. :/
Connection is usually fine, unless it's raining. I think there's an exposed cable somewhere along the line.
